Despite featuring a 10-inch screen when fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold didn’t support the S Pen stylus, which could be a drawback for some users. However, a newly discovered patent, spotted by David from xleaks7, not only suggests Samsung may already have the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 in the pipeline, but also that the device could include a slot for the S Pen.
The patent shows that the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 may feature a slot within the hinges to store the S Pen, eliminating the need for users to carry the stylus separately. When the device is folded, a storage space is created between the panels, allowing the S Pen to fit inside.
Moreover, the patent hints at the use of magnets, charging capabilities, and detection features to ensure the S Pen is properly inserted. This could mean the hinge slot would not only store the S Pen but also charge it. This is similar to what Samsung already did with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, Samsung may need to narrow one side of the display panel, which could affect the device’s overall balance.
Yet, we should take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for further confirmation from other tech industry tipsters. Still, adding S Pen support to the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is one of the most anticipated features fans hope to see in Samsung’s next trifold.
While Korean sources previously suggested that Samsung aims to make the next TriFold slightly thinner, adding S Pen support could mean the company might need to opt for a thicker body.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was one of the most controversial smartphones of the year, thanks to its double-folding mechanism. The first version had a relatively short lifespan and was discontinued shortly after launch, and the second version is now expected to arrive in early 2027.
