Samsung will announce a new Gear S wearable next week at IFA Berlin

Although Samsung launched its latest handset, the Galaxy Note8 today, it appears that the firm will have some more announcements about new devices at IFA Berlin next week.

According to DJ Koh, the president of Samsung's mobile division, the firm is set to launch a new wearable under the Gear S line. While the Gear S3 was officially revealed in August of last year, it didn't arrive to retail until the end of 2016. Currently, Samsung has the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 frontier, along with the Gear S3 frontier TUMI Special Edition.

While it was initially thought to make an appearance at the Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Note8, the leaked Gear Fit2 Pro was a no show, leaving many to speculate that it could arrive at a later date, possibly at IFA. If this is the case, it would be an interesting reveal with two new wearables arriving to market, just ahead of Apple's own revamped offering.

IFA will take place from September 1 through September 6. The Galaxy Note8 will be available to pre-order starting tomorrow in the United States.
