Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra wins GLOMO Award

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has triumphed in the Best Smartphone category at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards. Held at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona, these annual awards celebrate the mobile industry innovations in apps, devices, and services across the globe. The winners are selected by a jury of subject matter experts currently headed by industry veteran Shaun Collins.

Samsung's flagship phone was nominated alongside the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, OnePlus 9 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE 5G. The shortlisted devices were judged on a variety of factors including design, innovation, performance, utility, value for money, and user experience to name a few.

According to the judges, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G won them over with its "stunning AMOLED display" and "best in class cameras". For a quick recap, the phone features a premium glass sandwich design with a metal mid-frame. It is rated IP 68 for dust and water resistance. The S21 Ultra 5G sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. In terms of photography, it is equipped with a 108 MP main camera, along with a 12MP ultra-wide unit, and two telephoto cameras. Based on the region, it is either powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip or Samsung's in-house 5 nm Exynos 2100 SoC.

The South Korean technology giant also made its presence felt in the Best Connected Consumer Device category. Part of the shortlist that included Huawei VR Glass, Nreal for Nreal Light, ZTE for Cloud + AI-based Home Camera, Samsung's Galaxy Buds Pro lost out to Vodafone's smart GPS tracker dubbed as Curve.
