Square Enix offically announces Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Some details on Lara Croft's newest adventure, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, were leaked yesterday, but the official announcement today carries a teaser trailer, giving a glimpse at the new setting.

Following the leak from yesterday that spoiled the surprise, Square Enix has now officially unveiled the third game in the Tomb Raider reboot to the public. Titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, its new CGI teaser trailer is seen above, but we will have to wait longer to see any gameplay footage.

Judging by the teaser, however, it seems we will be visiting South America, and at some point in the game, there will be a solar eclipse. The official website doesn't add much to the announcement, only saying, "Experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider," and that a puzzle will be available on Monday at 9am PDT.

The official website now sports a count-down to a new date next month, on April 27, which is when the full reveal event will take place. Expect to see the game being featured at an E3 briefing this year as well.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on September 14, without any timed exclusivity periods like the one we saw for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Also, the game is already available for pre-order through the official website for $59.99.
