Shipments of smartphones globally decreased by 5% in the fourth quarter of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. Over the whole year, sales declined by more than 12% compared to 2019.

The analyst firm, Gartner, has reported that 3Q20 saw a decline in smartphone sales compared to 3Q19. It said that the next quarter looks better but sales will still be hampered due to COVID-19.
Gartner has reported that smartphone sales declined by 2.7% in 1Q 2019. The top five brands, in terms of sales, were Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Oppo, and Vivo, with Xiaomi narrowly placing sixth.
