WhatsApp is adding a shopping cart to its mobile apps

WhatsApp today announced that it is improving the shopping experience in the highly popular chat app by adding a shopping cart to the service. The firm says that the feature helps businesses that sell multiple products – like a clothing store – manage and process orders easily and provide users with the option to select multiple products at once.

The Facebook-owned firm expanded its shopping features last month by making it easier for users to check out product catalogs and purchase items right from a WhatsApp chat. The company says that its service is “fast becoming a store counter to discuss products and coordinate sales” and that the addition of shopping carts will make buying and selling products, especially during the holidays, easier.

Users can navigate to a business chat on WhatsApp, hit the shopping button, select a product from the catalog, and simply hit the Add to cart button at the bottom. Just like on other shopping sites, the cart can be managed and lets users remove items or tweak quantities. Additionally, users can add multiple products to the cart and send the seller an inquiry about them in a single message.

The shopping cart feature is rolling out starting today to all users around the globe.
