Windows 10 will natively support SSA, ASS, and SRT subtitle formats

It looks like Microsoft's Gabe Aul has confirmed that in addition to Windows 10 support MKV's natively, the OS will also support SSA, ASS, and SRT subtitle formats.

Windows 10 is shaping up to be quite the OS when it launches. Although it is still in early beta, there has been confirmation today that in addition to MKV support, Windows 10 will also support SSA, ASS, and SRT subtitle formats.

According to Microsoft's Gabe Aul, Windows 10 will indeed support SSA, ASS, and SRT natively. For those that are not familiar with the terms above, they are popular and powerful subtitling formats that are often used for fansubbing.

Naturally, the additional support for SSA/ASS/SRT will pair incredibly well with Windows 10's native support for MKV's. Although the official launch of Windows 10 is slated for summer, Microsoft will have a lot of work to do if they are aiming to complete the OS this summer.
