You can now sign up to test Sony's next PlayStation 4 software update

Xbox owners have enjoyed early access to new features for some time, with updates rolling out every few weeks. Of course, if you've got a PlayStation 4, the Xbox Preview program isn't much use - but the good news is that Sony is now inviting users to sign up for a beta of the PS4's next big software update.

Sony says that the beta will offer "a sneak peek at the features of the new system software", although it hasn't yet detailed the new additions and improvements that it will bring. More information will be provided in early September when the beta program begins.

However, places on the beta program are limited - anyone with a PS4, an internet connection and a master account (no sub-accounts allowed) can apply to be a beta tester, but not everyone will be accepted. To sign up, hit the source link below.

Microsoft will also release its next Xbox One Preview in September, bringing a new user experience to the console, powered by Windows 10.
