You can now use Shazam to identify songs inside ChatGPT

If you hear a song that you don't recognise while using ChatGPT, you can now use Shazam inside the AI assistant app to instantly identify it.

Apple and OpenAI are integrating Shazam into ChatGPT. Starting today, users can now identify songs directly inside the ChatGPT app using the new tool, without the need to switch to a dedicated Shazam app on their devices.

When you type a command like โ€œ@Shazamโ€ or ask the AI to identify the current song, a dedicated button to activate your microphone will appear. The system uses the standard Shazam recognition technology, the same one present on Apple devices, to process the audio and immediately returns a preview of the track right in the chat window. The tracks are presented as cards inside the chat, following the design language of Apple Music.

The most convenient part of this integration is that the tool operates completely cross-platform. You donโ€™t need to own an Apple device to use the feature. However, if you do have the standalone Shazam app on your phone, you can save any songs you identify inside ChatGPT to your permanent library. That prevents your music discovery history from getting buried under a mountain of old AI text conversations.

Since ChatGPT also supports Apple Music integration, you can create new playlists in ChatGPT, with the recently identified song as a seed. ChatGPT also supports Spotify integration, so you can do the same thing with Appleโ€™s rival music streaming platform.

Shazam for ChatGPT isnโ€™t enabled by default, but the setup is pretty straightforward. Just go to ChatGPT apps, look for Shazam, and connect it to ChatGPT. Or you can visit the toolโ€™s dedicated page and enable the integration instantly. Once you connect Shazam to ChatGPT, the music-recognition service will be available across all your supported hardware.

The Shazam integration is now rolling out globally and is available in ChatGPT on iOS, Android, and the web.
