YouTube support coming to PS Vita in June

The PS Vita may not be flying off the shelves but Sony seems determined to keep giving owners of the new portable console some new features. Today, Sony announced that PS Vita owners can look forward to checking out funny videos on YouTube in an upcoming software update.

In its announcement, Sony said, "The YouTube application features many of the functions you’re already familiar with – you can easily search for videos, choose favorites and make comments, and your personal YouTube account is available right on your PS Vita."

The YouTube client is expected to be released for the PS Vita for free sometime later in June. It will only be the second game console that will have YouTube support. Microsoft added the same feature to the Xbox 360 console in December.

Sony will likely be making a number of announcements for both the PS Vita and its Playstation 3 console at its pre-E3 press event on Monday, June 4th. That may or may not include a streaming game announcement, if the rumors are correct. NeoGamr will be in attendance at Sony's E3 2012 press event to get the word directly from Sony itself. Stay tuned for E3 coverage all next week.
