Lenovo ThinkPad P1 unboxing and first impressions

Lenovo's ThinkPad P-series is all about being a mobile workstation, so you can think of the ThinkPad P1 as an X1, but for workstations. In fact, the P1 is exactly like the X1 Extreme, except for some minor changes.

There are two key differences from the ThinkPad X1 Extreme. For one thing, the P1 comes with Nvidia Quadro graphics instead of GeForce; the model that Lenovo sent me includes a Quadro T2000 4GB. The other difference is that you can get it with an Intel Xeon E-2276M; however, that was not included in the unit that Lenovo sent me.

The unit that was sent to me for review includes an Intel Core i7-9850H CPU, Nvidia Quadro T2000 graphics, 32GB RAM, a 2TB SSD, and a 15.6-inch 4K Dolby Vision display. Interestingly enough, the X1 Extreme that Lenovo sent me also has a Core i7-9850H, 32GB RAM, and a 4K Dolby Vision screen, so it will be a nice way to compare the GeForce GTX 1650 GPU to the Quadro T2000.

One other key improvement with this year's model is that you can get it with a 4K OLED display. This also wasn't included in my unit, but Lenovo said it would send me one when it gets them. Check out the unboxing video below:
