LG V50 ThinQ unboxing and first impressions: 5G is here

Announced at Mobile World Congress this year, LG's V50 ThinQ was one of the first 5G smartphones. Unfortunately, there were very few cities where 5G existed. Sprint is starting to expand its 5G network though, and now that it's in New York, I wanted to get my hands on a unit to test it out.

It's powered by Qualcomm's newest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 855, which comes along with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem. And it packs a 4,000mAh battery, the larger battery being for the extra power that 5G will draw. After all, more speed means more power.

It even has a little glowing 5G logo on the back, which should shine when it's connected to 5G or when it's charging. What you won't find on the back of the device is a camera bump, similar to the G8 ThinQ that was announced at the same time.

On the front of the device, you'll find a 6.4-inch 1440p P-OLED display, similar to what you'd find on previous V-series handsets. In fact, the design is nearly identical. Check out the unboxing video below:
