Battlefield 3 Cracked To Run Without Origin, EA Sheds A Tear

EA is probably fuming over the news right now but gamers and anti-Origin groups are cheering over a slight victory. Torrent-natives and piracy group Razor1911 has announced (yes, they have announced) that Origin is no longer needed to play DICE's highly praised multiplayer shooter, Battlefield 3. If you?re an EA fanboy, you better pull that flameproof jockstrap out of the closet, and you may as well bring your matching flameproof 2.0 girdle to the party?you?re going to need it.

According to GamaSutra, Razer1911 released an Origin-free crack that enables true Battlefield fans to play without having to open or use EA?s new service, just as if it was 2002 and DRM was just a pipedream at a Ubisoft shareholders meeting.

Well, it gets better?Razor group had a statement alongside the crack (yes, pirates these days are sophisticated enough to play the PR game) stating that?

"This release is dedicated to our fans worldwide who bought this game on [sic] legal way and don't want to install the trojan from Electronic Arts to play online,?

Yes, that?s right folks. As the statement says, this crack is only for those who bought the game the legit way. This isn?t for those same people who downloaded the full game from Torrentz a few weeks ago and want to play multiplayer scotch free, since the only way to access the multiplayer is via Origin and Battlelog. Any of you pirates who get the game illegally and then use the above mentioned crack should feel very ashamed of yourselves?you?re completely foregoing EA?s plans of world domination through a digital distribution service. How is EA going to rule the world, spy on your e-mail like the CIA, uninstall DLC when you aren't looking or give you a digital wet-Willy while you're playing games on Steam if you don't install Origin? Really...Shame. On. You.

The Razor1911 patch is only 8MB and is said to only work for those who bought the game legally. Realistically, though, if you already bought the game from Origin you may as well stick with it. I don?t really see the point of going through the hassle of removing Origin when it?s no less intrusive than Battlelog.

Anyway, you can pick up Battlefield 3 from retailers or from Origin for $59.99. Check out Gaming Blend?s review of the game if you?re unsure the game is worth the purchase.

Probably a good thing, but I'm scared right now to give it a try... Don't want my game/serial key to get flagged.

Why would it get flagged? Your game is 100% legal and all you are doing is removing that crap from your computer. I think the reason Battlefield 3 crashes is because of that Origin garbage. It is totally unnecessary. I don't know why they made such a stupid decision to put that crap in the game.

Anyways, here's what appears to be another, safe solution to not using Origin:

I'll stick with Origin on the off chance EA somehow updates Origin to detect this hack and ban people who are using it. Call me paranoid, I don't care. I also don't have a lot of money to throw around too so better safe than sorry. Unless Razer1911 is going to compensate me for all my games on Origin if/when the account gets banned? Since they are so sure it works perfectly and all..

Yeah if you're into cracking software and using other unofficial workarounds, your life is always a lot more inconvenient, fidgety and the whole thing is just not worth doing since with every update things will change, both with the software and the service itself. Just stay with what you've got and everything will work properly.

Unless you like messing around with files and don't mind using outdated, unsupported software and/or error messages every so often. :p

welcome to the dumbest video game setup ever. if anything, this makes me want to get BF3 even more.

What? Really? I open my browser and click on my book mark. That's two clicks. Three if you click on quick game... You guys are pansies, for real :p

Why hasn't anyone said anything about renting this game on PS3 or XBOX360 and how you need to buy a on line pack to play. If you buy the game then you sweat, but if you buy it second hand or renting or borrowing your mates copy, then you need to spend 800MS point to play on line! dont know about PS3.

Yep. This is EA games' new way of getting extra cash from you. I play Tiger woods golf quite a bit and was amazed that a season in the 2012 version contains courses that aren't included in the standard game. You go through a number of competitions at different courses but after a short while it reaches one that you don't have and then asks you if you want to pay 320MS points for it! If you say no and skip that competition, you fall behind in the rankings as the computer AI player goes ahead and wins. Seriously, how can they sell a game that isn't whole. It would be like buying BF3 and then have to spend cash to buy your weapons to complete a mission.

There's a far easier solution. If you don't like EA's tactics and their "spyware", do what I do and vote with your wallet. Don't buy the game at all.

DONE THIS, no steam no buy! nice to see EA rape another classic game to death!!

This is actually one of the reasons why I'm abstaining from BF3. I, too, got Tiger 2012 and got suckered into the additional courses - what a F'd up way to go by EA. As you said, you can't even play the full proper game without buying the DLC. Can't wait to see what they really do with ME3 and how they fudge that up.

EA created Origin, as far as as anyone knows it doesn't collect or send any information, creates huge backlash from whiners due to BF3 not being sold via Steam.

Valve creates Steam, collects hardware and personal information and sends them to Valve, Half Life or any other Valve product isn't sold anywhere else and no one complains.

PC gamers, biggest hypocrites in the entire world. You make politicians look honest and sane.

At first I really didn't want to install Origin and "conform" but now that I have, and got BF3 working properly (after about an hour after installation, kinda pathetic EA)... Origin really doesn't bother me. It's fine.

Hmmm, people want the game just not the dross that accompanies it.

You know that steam asks you if you want your infos to be on the steam survey or not, right?

Its not surprising given the size of the EA empire and the reluctance of gamers to submit to any one company. I think that competition is good. As FloatingFatMan said, vote with your wallet. I bought it cause I wanted to try it and couldn't be stuffed one way or the other. If I didn't want to play, I wouldn't buy it. I guess at the end of the day, it comes down to personal choice. EA aren't required to sell their products to you on Steam. Just like Apple aren't required to sell their products to you though third party suppliers. Obviously they do by choice because they know this benefits them. If we're lucky, EA will realize the same through time and give us more choice.

    • Surgie matched da Vinci precision in live trials; Unitree’s DoD listing complicates hospital adoption Teleoperated humanoid robots completed live in-vivo surgery for the first time in medical history, UC San Diego researchers reported in Nature on July 8, 2026 — a proof of concept that could eventually extend surgical care to rural communities, battlefields, and remote settings where surgical specialists are absent. But the specific robot at the center of the breakthrough, the Unitree G1, was added to the U.S. Department of Defense's list of Chinese military companies just 30 days before the paper was published, carries a documented wormable security exploit affecting all units ever manufactured, and continuously transmits sensor data to servers in China without notifying the operator. The achievement is real, and the complications are real. Institutions evaluating this technology need to understand both. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/320157/20260711/humanoid-robots-perform-first-live-surgery-pentagon-flags-hardware-chinese-military-tech.htm
    • Failed to open \EFI\ubuntu\ - Not found That message keeps popping up every time I boot the computer. Stays there for a few seconds than vanishes and the PC loads Linux Mint, but its really annoying the hell out of me, so, does anyone here know and can tell me how to fix that or get rid of it please? • Could God or aliens actually be real as new theory says we shouldn't even exist by Sayan Sen Image by cottonbro studio via Pexels A study published in July 2025 examined one of science's biggest unanswered questions: how life first emerged from non-living matter on early Earth. The research, led by Robert G. Endres of Imperial College London, used mathematics to examine how difficult it would have been for the first living system, known as a protocell, to form before Darwinian evolution began. The origin of life remained an open question in physics and chemistry. Scientists had already studied how simple molecules might have formed under early Earth conditions, but this study focused on a different challenge: how those molecules could have become organized into a functioning living system. To investigate this, Endres developed a mathematical framework based on information theory and algorithmic complexity. Information theory is a branch of mathematics that studies how information is stored, measured and organized. In this study, it was used to estimate how much meaningful information a biological system would have needed to function. Algorithmic complexity measures how much information or how many instructions are required to describe or recreate something. More complex systems require more detailed organization. The study applied these ideas to a protocell, a simple cell-like structure that scientists considered a possible early step toward life. A protocell would have needed basic features, such as a boundary separating its internal chemical environment from its surroundings, before more advanced biological processes could develop. Using modern computational estimates, the research evaluated how difficult it would have been to assemble the organized biological information needed for a protocell under plausible prebiotic conditions. Prebiotic conditions referred to Earth's chemical and physical environment before life existed, including oceans, minerals and energy sources that might have supported chemical reactions. The findings suggested that forming a viable protocell would have faced major informational and physical barriers during the relatively limited time available in Earth's early history. As biological systems became more complex, the amount of organized information required also increased, making spontaneous assembly through random processes increasingly difficult. The study compared this challenge to trying to write an article about the origins of life for a well-renowned space-based website by randomly placing letters onto a page. Individual letters might have appeared by chance, but producing a complete and meaningful article became vastly less likely as more information was required. The comparison illustrated why assembling a highly organized biological system presented such a significant scientific challenge. The research also examined entropy, a concept in physics that describes the number of possible arrangements within a system and is often associated with increasing disorder. Because natural processes tend to move toward states with greater entropy, explaining how the highly organized structures found in living systems developed from non-living matter remains a major scientific challenge. The study did not conclude that life could not have originated naturally on Earth. Instead, it suggested that current scientific understanding might have been incomplete and that additional physical principles or mechanisms might have been needed to explain how biological organization first emerged. The paper stated that "Ultimately, uncovering physical principles for life's spontaneous emergence remains a grand challenge for biological physics." Biological physics is the field that applies the principles of physics to understand living systems, from molecules and cells to larger biological structures. The study also discussed directed panspermia, a speculative hypothesis suggesting that life might have been intentionally introduced to Earth by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization. Directed panspermia was originally proposed by Francis Crick and Leslie Orgel. The idea remained a possible but unconfirmed explanation and had not been supported by direct evidence. The paper stated, "While the idea of Earth being terraformed by advanced extraterrestrials might violate Occam's razor from within mainstream science, directed panspermia -- originally proposed by Francis Crick and Leslie Orgel -- remains a speculative but logically open alternative." Occam's razor is the scientific and philosophical principle that, when multiple explanations fit the available evidence, the one requiring the fewest assumptions is generally preferred. The study noted that directed panspermia introduced more assumptions than natural origin models. The research did not present directed panspermia as the preferred explanation, nor did it rule out the possibility that life emerged naturally on Earth. Instead, it measured the scale of the informational challenge and suggested that further discoveries might be needed to identify mechanisms that could explain the transition from non-living chemistry to life. Scientists continued investigating the origin of life through chemistry, biology, geology and physics. Previous research had explored environments such as hydrothermal vents, shallow pools and mineral surfaces where early chemical processes might have taken place. This study did not directly test those ideas. Instead, it examined the broader requirements that any successful explanation would have needed to meet. By combining mathematics with biology, the research aimed to provide a more quantitative way of studying the origin of life. Although it did not answer how life began, it highlighted the complexity of the problem and the need for further research into one of science's most enduring mysteries.
