I haven't got a problem with you criticising my country, how about you go first? Oh, that's right, you probably couldn't even find most countries outside of North America on a map (without help), let alone know anything to criticise them for (again, without help).

Typical from someone who seems to think all Americans are dumb - i actually went to a school where we learned every country on every continent. Go ahead and try me since you think i'm of lower intellect. Having lived in both Europe and USA I can say Americans are very prude. Just look at the laws and way of life there. For example in many parts of Florida where people go for vacation and relax in the tropical climate you cant even make out with your girlfriend on the beach. This would never happen in a European country as it would be a violation of personal freedom.

Plus they are very anti nudidty and alot of other things that I can not come to think of..

When I was in Europe I could feel life was more relaxed and people where not prude like in America. Was more of a feeling of freedom and I wouldnt be struck down for voiceing my opinion like I was in the USA.

Also in Europe you dont have to worry about the police beating you up like in the USA over a simple traffic stop.

I don't know what you experienced but in my time living in the US, I had no problems at all with personal freedoms being imposed upon or voicing my opinions. There are many European countries with weird laws and restrictions that you won't find in the US - it goes both ways.

The US is very prude when it comes to ANY form of nudity. Its getting to the point of stupidity. Everyone either has a **** or a vagina, and a set of breasts. People need to get the **** over it. My wife and I have raised our two kids into a nudity conscience family, and have had no problems. They gew up around me and my wife both nude within the confines of our homes, and to the day (She is 22, he is 18) they are both comfortable with everyone, and themselves. I wish this country would get a ****ing clue. But they never will, religion is the reason being nude is bad.

Look at Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" (i still love that). That caused a huge scene. People were ****ed that their children were watching some good ole family style football and then a titty came flying out at them (thank goodness we didn't have 3D tvs back then! Then again, I don't know that Janet Jackson would have done much for 3D). I would be willing to bet that the majority of parents out there would consider nudity on television that their children are watching to be "bad". I know my parents would have when I was younger. If it's a minority, it's a surprise by me. Our country LOVES to censor anything that could possibly offend anyone. Actually, that's half the problem with our country. We're always so worried about what's politically correct and not offending people, so people grow up to whine about everything that they don't like. People could use being offended sometimes so they can learn that the world isn't about them. The US government just keeps passing laws and regulations more and more than make sure everyone lives a perfect life and is never exposed to anything offensive or hurtful, and look what it's doing to us. For lack of a better way to say it, it's turning everyone into a bunch of whiny bitches.

1: eh, no, Europe is full of immigrants from all over the world, and percentage wise moresoe than America is today, maybe Mexicans excluded. but then if we count mexicans and then also count europeans from other european nations then it balances out. Few Africans and Indians and afghanis and Iraqis and Pakistani and so on and so on choose to spend the extra cash togo all the way to America when European nations are closer, have more open borders and far more opportunities for work and the "American" dream.

I'd say on a percentage basis, yes America is more prude than the average(or even all) European nations. of course, this does not count for all Americans and the majority are not, especially among the younger generation. BUT there is a significantly higher percentage of the prude minority, and they tend to be a lot more vocal and demanding of getting their way.

Wow, a little upset are you? The reaction was far more than "a few hundred people bitching to the FCC". I'm sorry but I just don't believe what you're saying. I think if a poll were placed on a prominent home page like Yahoo, etc, asking if nudity and profanity should be allowed on TV, I don't think you'd see anywhere near a minority saying no. I think it would definitely be a majority no. If a large majority of the people didn't care, then we wouldn't be catering to a few whiners. The reality is that it's not a tiny minority like you make it sound.

I don't think a huge amount of people were necessarily insulted by the Janet Jackson thing, but I think that aside from the really hardcore anti-nudity people, most people understood that it was an accident, but I still don't think most people would have accepted it if it were a planned part of the show. I've been here all my life and never once gotten the impression that the majority of people wouldn't care if nudity and stronger language were allowed on TV.

Regardless, to say that the US is just as accepting of all of that as European countries would be absolutely ridiculous to say. It's not even close. We are all about shielding everyone, especially children, from anything that could be "bad". In a lot of other more tolerant countries, kids grow up learning how the world actually works. That's why we have ratings systems on every form of entertainment.

I dunno, I haven't seen anywhere where a poll like that has been done, so I can't say for sure how many people side one way or another, but the impression I get from the country is not that of a very small minority.
