One last question...

Do I purchase the games off of PSN onto PS3 and transfer, or can it be done through the Vita directly? Or both? Just curious best way to do it.

TIA, DL

you can certainly do either. in my case, i downloaded Escape Plan to my PS3 last week, so i'll install it today. i'll probably continue to download stuff through my Vita though.

You can do, some PSP games you have to, i could download Vice City Stories via Vita but not Chinatown Wars or Gran Turismo, had to do it through the PS3 then copy them over.

How do you transfer from PS3 to Vita? Is it Wireless? Bluetooth? Or Plug the Vita in?

Without even knowing how the transfer works, I am thinking I will just purchase it directly on the Vita, use the Content App on my Mac, and download any of the games that are both PS3 & Vita on my PS3 itself.

Again, PSN ID is DLDirtyLarry, anyone with a Vita send me a new invite through it. (Y)

It's super easy to tranfer from the PS3. Basically boot up the content manager on your Vita, go through the prompts, select the apps you want to transfer off the PS3 and away it goes. Very easy to do, so don't hestitate doing that if you want to have them ready to go. Just read the MotorStorm RC is getting a March 6th release date in North America so we've got a couple weeks to wait.

Called today to get a refund on my Super Stardust bundle since it still won't install. Has anyone purchased the bundle and been able to install it? Heard some people mention that after refunding and repurchasing that it worked fine so I guess I'll wait and see. Dying to play this game now though, hopefully it takes less than the 7-10 days they told me on the phone.

I'll also mention a quick tip that I've found to be the most useful, which is holding down the PS button will bring up the common settings so you don't have to jump into the settings app each time to adjust the brightness and such.

My PSN ID is the same as my username so feel free to add me as well.

Nice, I didn't know about that one. I haven't fiddled with the settings very much (outside of just connecting to WiFi networks and installing updates), but that should come in handy.

I'm liberation07 on PSN if anybody wants to add me. If you plan on playing Lumines, you can get a nice self-esteem boost from my pitiful high score :).

Went out and brought a Vita myself today, i was surprised the shop had any in stock as its been getting excellent reviews by players and critics.

I went for the wifi only version as i thought i would tether the Vita to my mobile and i didn't want to multiple phone contracts/sims.

Pretty much agree with whats been said on the forum already, the screen is absolutely incredible, very vibrant and i think a really good balance between size and portability. My bundle came with a 4GB memory card and Rayman Origins.

Linked the Vita to my account and performed the update to 1.6 from 1.06 which was nice and painless, i like that the progress bar for the download gives an ETA on the remaining download time.

Rayman is incredible, i know the reviews say that it doesn't display HD but the balance of resolution and the size of the screen, it definitely looks HD, colours really leap out, it takes a few seconds for your eyes to adjust to the detail and the picture quality.

Haven't had much time to look over the other features yet, I'm gonna grab Motostorm from the store as it's not a bad price. Im hoping that game or game station might do a good deal on games as i wouldn't mind picking up a few more.

Edit:-

After playing with it for a little while I'm really impressed with the number of demos available, pretty much all of the retail game. It's really refreshing to see and something i would say the 3DS needs to pick up on a little more. It's nice to be able to get back into the whole demo thing again as a lot of publishers have shy'd away from releasing demos.

my PSN name : REM2000

My order just shipped so I should be getting it in time for the weekend. :) What cases are you guys using for your Vitas?

Nothing at the moment, still looking for one. Any recommendations?

I've been using the case that came with my first edition bundle and I've been pleased with it so far. Enough room for some games, AR Cards, USB cable and the system itself. Pictures of it are here and here.

That looks perfect, dang it, wish i had done the preorder now :s

Went out and got the Sony Starter Pack from Asda for ?15, feel better than I now have a case and screen protecto (Y) Comes with a car charger and games case as well which is nice (The actual Vita case itself can also hold games).

Review of it - http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/02/22/ps-vitas-official-starter-kit-reviewed/

Highly recommend for ?15.

So very, very initial impressions, as I have yet to play an actual game.

It is incredibly easy to use, super intuitive. Screen really is gorgeous.

Installing games and the system update over WiFi has been a very easy process. Which BTW, @ Boxter, I did purchase Super Stardust and it installed no issues, at least I believe it did, I have not tried to launch it yet, but it definitely installed.

What else...

Using Content Manager is also easy as can be, I did an intial backup to my Mac once I installed everything I knew I was going to install, was about 2.5 GB of data, took about 8 minutes total.

Make sure to grab Cliff Diver and Fireworks and Soccer Table or whatever it is called, all are free games, and I know for certain Cliff Diver uses the AR cards, which I did also get, just did not get to try them out yet.

DO NOT BUY THE CRADLE. I am returning it to Amazon. Perhaps it is my fault I did not read the description, but it is literally just the cradle, nothing else, so in order to charge with it, you have to use the one and only AC adapter that comes with the Vita itself. So it really is pointless unless you want to prop your Vita up nicely for whatever reason. Other than that, total rip off.

So damn, I was wondering why Motorstorm was not showing up for me, now I know why. Have to wait for it to release.

I am going to have to wait a little bit to actually play anything, my Vita only came about 60% charged, so I am currently charging it as it was getting low. I was running it almost 3 hours straight checking stuff out and downloading and installing everything possible. Hope to be playing in about an hour or so.

Also one last thing, I suck at putting on screen protectors. And I also have to remember to do it upstairs where my puppies hairs are nowhere to be found. I literally wasted the one and only screen protector that came with the starter pack, I took it on and off so many times I wound up bending it, it lost some of its stickiness, etc., so that pretty much sucks.

I am probably going to go straight to playing Rayman since I am renting it, but may mess around with Welcome Park a bit. Checked out the very first touch screen thing, and damn it, I could only get 34 seconds.

Finally, what do people thing about the protection plan? I am heavily considering picking it up myself. Would go for the more expensive accidental one as well. Not sure about it, but seems like a pretty solid investment.

Since my store covers all accidental and the high probability of the battery losing the ability to hold a complete charge, I usually recommend it.

I found an interesting feature completely by accident, pressing the Playstation Button cycles through last used application, open applications in a card style view and back to the home screen.

I don't think you're alone there, Larry. Although make sure your puppy doesn't get a hold of the vita and make it its new chew toy :o Nice quick write up, by the way. Looking forward to seeing what your thoughts are after you've had more time with it.

Well I just got my Wifi version. It is charging and installing the 1.61 update. The screen is like "wow" beautiful. I also picked up a 16 GB card and U:GA. I got a pretty decent price for all of it. Well, I could have imported and saved a bit more but I couldn't help myself. It's been 12 month since I quit smoking so this is my present to myself :p. Any excuse'll do ;)

I'll do a little write up not unlike Larry's after I get some game time in.

Real, real valid point. I have 30 days to purchase it, but I think I am just going to bite the bullet and buy it ASAP. Trying to hold off for a gift card I am getting through Verizon Fios. 300 Visa Gift card my wife already said I can use for everything Vita, but not sure it is going to arrive before the 30 days are up. But real valid points.

Congrats. And hell me I still smoke, so I know what an absolute amazing thing it is to have gone a year without smoking, so you deserve it. And you easily have saved the money by not smoking.

And Believe me, the thought of my puppy already thinking it is a chew toy has crossed my mind more than once. Especially since it is going to always be in my hands, he really, really may mistake it as such. I am actually quite concerned and that is all kidding aside. And no ****, he already hates the Vita. LOL Again not kidding, I basically ignored him tonight, so he was not happy. I have to watch out for real. What wound up being real funny is Escape Plan sent him over the edge. The sounds the game was making woke him up, and he came charging at the Vita. Was quite humorous.

So I got a chance to check out a few games. The aforementioned Escape Plan. Only got a few scenes in and already I was like WTF do I do now? Eventually figured it out, but it is a game that makes complete use of the touch, in a very good way it seems.

Also checked out the 2 AR related games, the diving board and fireworks one. I guess they were mildly amusing. Actually the diving one was pretty awful, and the fireworks one I literally just gave up on, as I felt like if I did not I would have still been there playing it, and that was like 90 minutes ago. I will say the tech itself is very cool, but the games around the tech, not so much. They were the same small time killers I bought the Vita to get away from.

Finally, I checked out the first 2 chapters of Uncharted. Looks great and runs great. I do see it is a game that is a showcase for everything the Vita does touch wise, and not sure how I feel about that just yet. Touching to climb just seems to damn easy. But I did only check out the first 2 chapters, so I am still very early on. Going to definitely keep playing.

My wife said to me tonight "you better play this damn thing more than 2 weeks, I do not want a repeat of the last console I purchased for you." At sure I was not sure what she meant, then I remembered she bought me the Wii. I assured her I would be using the Vita way, way more than the Wii.

Definitely very strong initial impressions. Thinking I am going to give it a few days before I post anymore impressions, let it all really sink in.

That was weird.

Switched Vita on and it said updating database and all my games had gone, i tried running Uncharted and it said i required a memory card. Switched it off, took memroy card out and put it back in, then switched it on and everything showed up again.

Anyone else had that?

    • Owing to the nature of Windows feature enablement updates, it was distributed over Windows Update services as a complete system upgrade rather than as an ordinary cumulative update
    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2, urges IT admins to prepare for release by Usama Jawad Windows 11 typically follows an annual update cycle, but Microsoft recently broke that tradition a bit by releasing a "26H1" version in the first half of this year as a "scoped" build for select new silicon PCs only. This version was not available for customers using 24H2 and 25H2 builds, as Microsoft is busy preparing version 26H2 for them, confirmed officially for the first time. In a Windows IT Pro blog, Microsoft has urged IT admins to prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2. The company has confirmed that this will be a small enablement package (eKB) that will simply light up certain disabled features that are already present in the operating system's code base. This means that the "refined" Windows update and deployment experience will be simpler and quicker, with minimal disruptions, as the feature update will simply toggle a few flags rather than performing a complete replacement. Microsoft has explained that this is all possible because the standard Windows 11 releases share the same servicing branch and hence, the same source code. However, this also means that Windows 11 26H1 users won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 as that is a different branch, but this is something we have known for a while now. Similar to previous annual feature updates, Windows 11 26H2 will offer the following support cycles: 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro EDU, and Pro for Workstations editions 36 months of support for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise Multi-session editions Microsoft has not confirmed a concrete release date for Windows 11 26H2, but noted that it is "coming soon". If we go by the ongoing release cadence, we can expect it to begin rolling out in early October 2026. As such, IT admins have been encouraged to begin validating Windows Insider releases in the Experimental Channel, plan rollout rings, and strategize the utilization of their existing deployment tools.
    • Windows 11 gets new audio improvements in the latest builds by Taras Buria Today's Experimental builds (26H1 and Future Platforms, formerly Canary) pack several audio-related improvements. If your device is enrolled in the Experimental Channel (26H1), you can download build 28120.2315, while those in the Future Platforms version have build 29613.1000 to try. Here is what is new in build 29613.1000: [Audio] Following up on our previous improvements, we’re making some more adjustments to Settings > System > Sounds based on your feedback. Namely, we’ve updated the “All sound devices” page so: You now have the ability to change default devices from this page. Each of the devices displayed on this page now has a little volume meter next to it to show if there is audio actively playing. We’ve adjusted the page design slightly so now you can filter whether you’re viewing input or output devices. We’ve added toggles so you can choose if you want to hide or show disabled, disconnected, and unplugged devices on this page. We’ve also updated the input and output audio properties page for devices in Settings to now include jack information for those that need it. And here is the changelog for build 28120.2315: This update includes a small number of minor bug fixes and improvements. [Accessibility] This update improves caption style responsiveness by redrawing captions immediately for caption style changes. If no current caption is visible, a sample caption string is displayed. [Audio] This update improves the reliability of the inbox HD Audio driver. You can find the official release notes for build 28120.2315 here and for build 29613.1000 here.
    • I agree with what I think you are saying, just not in the way you are saying it. Like any tool, the amount it represents your work is perorational to the effort you put into it. It is similar to why 2nd grade math students learning to add and subtract are not allowed to use calculators, but a high-school calculous student is. For the 2nd grader, that tool would completely replace the work they are doing, for the calculous student the same tool allows them to work far more effectively while in no way replacing their effort or knowable. If you spend 30 seconds writing a prompt, then the image that comes out is no more "yours" than if you found the same image with a Google Image search. However, many of these generative tools also support highly iterative processes that allow back and forth, and merging generated images with photos or human created images. I am sure you would agree that a human spending hours of time working on a project, even if AI was involved in the process, still reflects that human's work.
