Type 2 is the NAT you want.

  I just figured Type 1 was better, but if Type 2 is what I want, cool, no need to mess with it.

Yup, works fine :)

That really is kick ass. So wish I was home when it was posted, as I did see it right away, just was at work.

@ REM2000 - Nice find with the game size, etc. By choosing Information. Was wondering how to do it myself, and figured there had to be a way.

This may be madness to some, but I have to say so far my least favorite game is Uncharted. I only did play the first 2 chapters, but yeah, was not all that impressed with it. Stuff like the etchings, being able to just touch where you want to climb, just seemed, I don't know, I have to say kind of cheesy. Should I push on with it, does it get a lot better?

Noob! :p

Yeah NAT2 is what you historically wanted on your 360/PS3, same for Vita. Means all ports necessary can be accessed (voice chat/online gaming/store/ect).

I'm really enjoying Uncharted! On chapter 4, interested to see what you think when you keep playing Larry. I'm ignoring all the touch stuff, besides the touch based puzzles which I don't mind - All the rubbing jokes

Again, I can't speak highly enough of the official Sony travel kit pack. If it's still ?15 in Asda, it's a no brainer. Avoid the starter pack, case is ###### compared to travel.

Bit of a convoluted way to get files onto the Vita but I guess we only have ourselves to blame because of PSP rampant piracy.

Im on chapter 20, Uncharted is massive.

U2 > U3 > U:GA > U1, it doesn't have the big set pieces like U2 and 3 but its better than U1, there is a lot of the touch screen stuff like charcoal rubbings, on screen gestures and stuff and they are a little bit irritating but I guess you have to shoehorn them all in because its a launch game.

It does pick up the pace once you get into it. Though it does suffer from MGS4-itis where you walk a bit then you get a cutscene, climb a bit and get a cutscene, shoot some men then a cut scene. But I can live with it I love the mythology in Uncharted. It does get a bit tedious.

That's not a question :p

Don't really see the point in game downloads other than convenience, the whole point is that you get discounted price over retail but only at RRP, you can pick them up cheaper retail thanks to pricing wars but then you have to carry loads of game carts around.

Also games load a bit slower off memory card than they do retail.

Yeah i knew it had to be in there somewhere, it's an obvious need :)

Im now in two minds myself regarding Uncharted, i downloaded the demo, the chapter where you have to escape the burning building was good but the other chapter in the demo, sniping / covering a girl (cant remember her name) was really annoying/fiddly as it was hard to get precise aim with the thumbs.

Wasn't a big fan of the travel kit case, reminded me of a bathroom travel bag, i asked pcworld to open one of the kits up and thought the case was a bit spongy. I went for a ?10 venom case, i went for it as it was a bit harder and im gonna be storing the vita in my bag during my commute to work so it needs to be a bit ridged. Only drawback with the case is the bit which holds memory cards and games is really loose/practically useless.

Ok just bought vita, like the hardware and it lags some software features but since it's new I'll let go and hope they fix it soon rather then after the release of Vita 2. Also one question

Game - DL vs. Memory Card.

For all of the download games im also factoring in the memory card price, a 4GB is ?15 from amazon in the uk, get say three odd games on it and it's gonna cost you ?5 (unless of course you keep deleting and redownloading). Which is why im gonna get all my games retail (unless of course they are download only a la hustle kings) to save money on memory cards.

Talking of hustle kings next on my list to purchase, didn't think much of the darts games.

Im want to get Everybody golf, Virtua Tennis and perhaps Fifa 12 as these are the games you can just keep replaying,

I'm about up to chapter 10 in Uncharted now and it's probably my least favorite in the series so far. While it's great having Nolan North there I don't care a whole lot for most of the other actors (Dante/Chase). It doesn't mean I'm not enjoy the game, but I also don't like the way they force touch upon us in some cases.

The fact that I can initiate melee combat with square but need to finish off with a swipe I'm not a huge fan of. It takes away from the rhythm a bit. I also find the whole slicing through stuff a bit 'meh'. While you're doing the actions Drake is just standing there motionless so it kind of seems a bit pointless and takes away from the immersion of the game a bit.

Ended up trading Little Deviants in for about 13 bucks so that covered the game cost from the first edition bundle anyways. Ended up picking up Hot Shots then instead and haven't played too much but it so far it seems similar to most of the others.

This is my current lock screen:

Quoting you as I played Uncharted a bit more, I am probably up to Chapter 4 or so I think, and the reasons you state above are dead on and I could not agree more.

These reasons, along with a few others, are exactly why it is my least favorite Vita experience right now.

The whole swipe for melee and swipe to cut the branches, plus the charcoal rubbing, plus the rotate objects and view them at 100% by either rotating or rotating and cleaning, well all of these aspects are just not enjoyable to me from a gameplay perspective, and I personally cannot help but feel they only exist to make use of the touch capabilities of the Vita, and not to enhance the experience overall. I am sure plenty will disagree with this, but for me personally, they are all pointless mechanics that only prolong the gameplay, not deepen it. I am also finding the hit detection to be questionable. There has been more than one occasion I have a headshot, and it registers either nothing, or it takes 3 headshots to bring someone down. And I know at times I am getting headshots, as I already got a pop up for getting 10 of them. Just overall I feel if the game was not tied to such a marquee title of Sony's this generation, it would have otherwise received lukewarm reviews at best.

With the above said, I will say Rayman is fantastic. I am truly loving it. I still need to check out Wipeout and Hot Shots Golf, have not even tried either yet.

And do you have this GOW wallpaper in the original form? Really dig it.

It's funny that you mention the hit detection because there were a couple times where I could've sworn I got a headshot and it didn't register as a hit at all. I always just brushed it off as some problem with me, though I've never experienced this sort of thing before and I've played the other games through several times each. I'm also missing certain features they implemented in the newer games the more I've played this one. The fact that I have to run from cover every time they toss a grenade instead of just tossing it back gets a bit annoying after a while.

I know they started this game before UC2 was released (based on what I've heard from interviews) and I've found that it shows in some cases. They didn't really advance too much in the game and instead it feels like they just sort of tacked on whatever Vita specific features they could to differentiate it. Considering the fact that UC2 is my favorite followed by the 3rd, then it's not hard to understand why adding some 'gimmicky' features sends this game to the back of the list for me.

Like I mentioned before I'm finding certain characters like Dante a bit annoying while I really don't care for Chase's voice acting. Perhaps if these were different than I would've enjoyed it more but when people kept saying it didn't feel like a Naughty Dog game I feel like it's this area where it becomes most evident.

I just grabbed the God of War wallpaper from this link here and cropped it down to size.

From my quick look at it in a local gamestop, here are some of my initial thoughts on it..

The good:

Screen is nice.

Visuals are also relatively nice.

The not so good:

Analog sticks seemed a tad too small and could use to be a little bit bigger.

obligatory "os could be better" statement.

If your hands are bigger than those of a 5 year old, it's basically impossible to hold without touching the rear touch panel. Making that "feature" pretty useless.

The few demos i tried had the longest loading times i've seen in ages. Even if the full versions of the games are improved in that regard, that's a bad thing to show potential buyers.

Overall first impressions: Not a bad device, but i'm not convinced it's worth picking up before a price drop. Especially without a memory card being packed in, even if it's the smallest one.

Totally digging WipEout so far. Yeah, the load times are atrocious, but once you get into the game, it's the WipEout that I have known and loved for all these years. In Giant Bomb's review, they were arguing that the game lacked the "sense of speed" that the PS3 version has, but I haven't found that to be the case at all. Admittedly, I haven't played the PS3 version in quite some time, but 2048 feels sufficiently fast to me. The game looks gorgeous on the Vita's screen, and the analog stick works quite nicely, especially compared to that little nub in the PSP versions. The controls are a little iffy - I have the shoulder buttons mapped to the airbrakes, and I have X and Square for acceleration and weapons (you can't fine-tune the controls - they are presets), which is slightly awkward when you need to hold both buttons down simultaneously (for instance, when you have to fire the cannon powerup while accelerating). Apart from minor issues, I'm definitely happy with this game.

Hot Shots Golf and Lumines are great as well, though I have been neglecting them lately because of WipEout. And once Street Fighter x Tekken comes out, I'm sure that I'll be putting in quite a few hours on that one as well.

Finished Uncharted. It definitely picked up 1/3rd of the way in and the touchscreen stuff got few and far between. Near the end though the boss fights got very touchscreen gesture-y which was a bit annoying.

I still stand by my U2 > U3 > U:GA > U statement this is a lot more run and gun like the first Uncharted was. The graphics got mindblowing the further you get into the game, If you are playing it I really suggest you stick with it.

Starting to get freezes now, usually when playing Everybodys Golf. It will just freeze but the sound still plays, cant press any buttons have to hold power down to put it into recovery.

Only started happening since I upgraded EG to 1.03.

With the above said, I will say Rayman is fantastic. I am truly loving it. I still need to check out Wipeout and Hot Shots Golf, have not even tried either yet.

I will really agree with you there, rayman is incredibly good and plays as well as mario, they have got the responsiveness, jumping down to a tee, ive played some rayman games in the past and its always felt either too jittery or too laggy. The graphics are unsurpassed for a platforming game, easily any scene, any location any position is a beautiful wallpaper. They have also nailed the sound with a really good, fun, poppy soundtrack which really reflects the stage your playing. So far im up to the mountain (centre) stage on the game, it seems to be going past so quickly as it's just such an addictive game!

Thanks for the heads up, this is next to buy, so i might leave the update off if it's possible.

The PS Vita is in an asymmetrical gaming war, because most people will compare the price of the unit and the games to a smartphone and titles like Angry Birds, and the PS Vita will lose in that style of statistical comparisons. To come back to Sony?s gamble, that?s it in a nutshell. Over its lifetime, the PS Vita will shift less units than a smartphone. Will it sell enough?

I think it deserves to. It?s the only choice for gamers looking for console gaming while out and about. The build quality is fantastic, there?s a lot of technology that will be utilised well for many years. The launch titles cover a lot of ground and genres, with more to come.

A review like this on Forbes is bound to turn some eyes. Good marketing for Sony. Also, there's those build quality issues cropping up again

Yeah you dont have to update it, just dont press the yellow sphere icon at the top of the live area.

Cheers, ill keep an eye out for it

I purchased Hustle Kings, really enjoying it at the moment.

Also brought escape plan which is an excellent game, good graphics, however ive found that the back touch screen is really sensitive so the game has been clocking up extra gestures affecting my score (the game counts the number of touches/swipes/pinches etc..) However apart from that, great game, well worth ?10.

It's been really refreshing to get back into portable gaming, the iPhone games really sucked my will to live last year, don't get me wrong there are some excellent titles out there, but they are all rather short without much depth. The 3DS and vita have really sparked the portal gaming scene!

Finally got my pre-order rewards, Super Stardust for ?1.49 (?5 discount) and Frobisher Says for free.

2012-02-28-120421.jpg

Frobisher says..........you are a hot woman Audioboxer and that I have to take you to my hot tub.....

LOL!

Wish I could play that right now, GAF say it's actually quite good for what it is.

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible.
