(As you could have guessed) I live in the US...and it's kind of funny because I too am 14 (b-day 1/11/89). Have you really been using your father's name? For some reason MS has been allowing me to test under my own name, with my age set to under 18....how interesting.

FYI: The following attachment is my orange radio.

.:W O W:. HAHA, I'm younger than u, my b-day is 1/16/89! :) :D

And i really dunno that MS allowed to test under age 18...

Yeah, free speech is good. But when the same people complain about their "gifts" and how dissapointed they are. It get's damn boring. You've had your say, you hate your gift from Microsoft. Ok, in life **** happens. Accept it. If this is the worst thing that happens to you in life then your lucky.

deal with my free speech. you have the right to leave

you seem to care by posting in this thread.

? Sorry ?

I have an interest in beta testing and a general interest in what the actual gifts are, not hearing a handful of individuals **** and moan about their radios.

It's quite simple, if you expect gifts for your efforts and do not appreciate the honor in testing software and helping to make it better.. Then STOP Beta Testing, if very flaming easy really!

For those who haven't received their gifts yet and are getting worried, here is a copy of an email I just received from Microsoft.

Dear ................

The gifts were shipped out later than expected, there are just going out now.

Thank you for you patience, we appreciate your participation.

Thanks,

Ali Scobby

eh...There's no thaksgiving in Hungary

And btw, I think i'M the youngest Office 2003 tester:I'm only 14...(I've tested with my father's name, he allowed me to do it :))

Trust me, you're not the youngest. I know a 12-year-old who tested it. He used his own name but lied about his birthdate.

Anyways, I got my radio in the mail tonight as well. It is blue (my favorite color ;)). The reception on the radio seems absolutely great. I can't hear any static on any channel.

I don't see why you are all bitching; it is a nice gift. It's a lot better than a certificate and a pen that you'll probably misplace. I can use this on the airplane or whatever. I would have liked a copy of Office 2003 Pro, but I realize that MS can't afford to give it away to tens of thousands of people for free. :)

They can afford it. It costs them ~50 cents to stamp out a CD if not less. 15000 testers, do the math ;)

This is what MS will get for the ones who did not get it. 5940 tech tester

$300.00 each =$ 1.782.000.00

$400.00 each =$ 2.376.000.00

$500.00 each =$ 2.970.000.00

$600.00 each =$ 3.564.000.00

This is not counting the other testers who join in after beta 2

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
