Office 2003 beta gift

Recommended Posts

Yeah if nobody wants there Office 2003 i would buy it from you just PM me, It kind of sucks what microsoft did as a person who submitted only 1 bug may have submitted the bug which was the most important eveyone should be issued with the same gift or be given nothing at all.

Can't agree any more man ;)

Hi Travis-

Yes, things are changing somewhat from past program structure and we will not be giving all 15,000 testers a copy of software. We very much appreciate your involvement as a beta tester and look forward to working with you in the future.

Thanks,

Ali Scobby

Hello Ali-

I understand that 15,000 copies of a program is a lot, but as a guess id assume more than 15,000 people were at the launch events and they all received free copies for listening to a few speeches, while beta testers who work hard finding bugs within the program get a 50 cent radio. All I?m saying is that the gift seems a little backwards.

still waiting for a responce.:unsure:e:

Yeah, but don't people normally pay to go to those conferences? Seems I had to pay to go to a Windows 98 conference when I got my free CD.

I don't really care. There are other ways to get a copy, esp. since MS screwed me over back in the day when I bought a $460.00 of Office 97, when all I needed was the upgrade (in small letters mentioned that it upgrades off of MS Works)

Not really, the Office 2003 Release was free entry in the UK ....

Radish?

Got mine today, didn't play with it yet (wasn't a top 60, but I just recieved a copy of Office 2003 OEM with the Pre-Installation Disk today from another source, so all is good)... it's bright yellow. :/

I got the 'I Helped Make' Sticker, and a red radio thing.

I have yet to try this radio out, but I'm damn happy I got Office 11.

Bah, I quite like having official CDs. Maybe I'll print out a screen-label for the CD.

Got any scans of the CD itself, or even a pic?

i got my radio today... its green. my 5 year old daughter loved it so i gave it to her. shes been listening to christmas songs on it since it came. i put the window thing on one of my car windows. i thought it was kinda neat considering i didn't spend much time using the beta or offering feedback... way too busy.... sorry to hear that some of you that spent an enormous amount of time with it didn't get anything better... but its christmas soon... try not to let it get you too mad... at least office 2003 rules partially thanks to you guys.

Well said (Y) ....

@ Hexicon - I think the beta software ends either in November 2003 or January 2004, not fully sure ....

I just got my radio today. You know what sucks? I kind of understand the whole arguments over "You didn't test this to get free software."

Well let's put it this way. We put our HARD WORK and effort into this test. I regularly work as much as I can on the various MS tests I'm in. Granted, I performed VERY little on the newsgroups (NGs were never my thing, I would, however, perform well if they had FORUMS, heh), but the fact of the matter is, we got a $2 radio TOY. It's less quality than what I would give my cat to throw around the house.

Now, why did we get a cheap little radio? I got much more expensive stuff from merely ATTENDING the Windows XP launch. I got free lunch, a pen, 3 t-shirts. In Norway? I think they got printers. Everyone in NYC's launch got free copies of XP Pro.

Merely attending a Microsoft Tech event can get you a free copy of XP Pro.

Yet we put effort and work into helping their product be great, and they give us a cheap ass radio? Come on. I don't know about you, but anyone here can agree that that's just BS.

I don't care about getting the software for free. Honestly, that would've been *nice*, but no. In fact, I'd much rather have seen a nice discount off of it. But noooooo we didn't get anything like that.

*sighs* I'll continue to work in the betas, though. As they normally treat their testers better than this.
