Soon the beta will expire on November 30 which means I'll have to install Office XP. Come on Microsoft I don't want to go back to the old Outlook. I wonder if you can backup your spell checker (I don?t want to re-teach it everything).

... but we do complain when they promise us something and then don't deliver. I recieved an email specifically stating I would recieve a "gift" by now. If they weren't going to actually send something out - fine, but they shouldn't have emailed everyone.

What the hell makes you say that?! That is NOT what is being implied at all, you're making a huge presumption of the individual(s) that are simply asking one question.

I'll use myself for example...I've been on dozens of MS betas over the years, and I enjoyed most of them and am happy to take part. That being said, if I simply ask a question in regards to a "thank you gift" and if anyone has received theirs yet, people like you immediately jump to the conclusion that we're only in it for the gifts. Well, that's totally not true. It's only a valid question that someone is asking. and you shouldn't assume some alterior motive because I asked that question.

I don't know how many times it needs to be said...but it not because people are greedy and the only reason they sign up for beta testing is for free stuff. Microsoft sent the letter and setting the expectation that we would recieve a free gift. Some of us are just really anxious to be getting something. Also would like to note that Microsoft has changed the date several time for recieving the gifts.

you wouldn't want to know how much people signed up (and probably got accepted) because they expect to get free ****.

And you have that number? What polling company did you employ did you use to come up with that figure?

Who cares about other people and their motives anyway. If they sign up and don't participate, they likely will not be accepted in the future and may not be elligible for "gifts" at the end anyway. And who knows, they may sign up looking for free sh*t as you put it, but may get involved and provide some useful reports. Worry about yourself and not about others...

my response was generalized, not at anyone specific.

you dont need numbers to realize that. people were asking in the office newsgroup for freebies way before ms actually announced gifts, not to mentioned that i had never ever seen the names of some of them before, but have shown up in the regular gift thread waves. and the recent amount of idiots invading the msh newsgroups just because they hope MS will send them longhorn 4051 because they were too stupid to read the application requirements speaks for itself too. maybe you're just another freeloader? at least it'd explain your harsh reaction.

Who cares about other people and their motives anyway.

i do. private beta tests have a limited amount of spots. the more freeloaders there are, the less testing feedback can be gained.

Cant u guys wait still, i mean u gotta think how many people microsoft had beta testing for them, if they had like a million people they might of tought that they could of got the gifts sent out and realised they are swamped with beta testers to send the gift to.. give it time :\

if not pirated? i dunno lolol piracy is bad mmk?

there were just 12000 beta testers, two waves with 6000 people on beta 1 and beta 2 respectively. the other 600000 are just preview customers that paid for a kit. they're no testers in the traditional way, and won't get a "gift".
