OK, I really wish all you people would stop acting like little kids and only reply if you have some constructive criticism. Jesus Christ.

I'll bet that unique has a life outside of theming and computers, and, as a result, is not going to be able to release updates every hour just to satisfy the demands of a bunch of little kiddies hitting "refresh" for hours on end hoping to see something new.

My view is: reply if there is something you'd like to see in the next iteration, and leave it at that. I'm sure unique will let us know when an update is available; you don't need to hound him about it.

yea this is a great theme i wish it was still in the works. (damn those who ruined it for us.)

Damn those who ruined it for us?? Look no further than the author of this thread...mgartner should not have given the "rights" to this VS to someone who isn't even a themer. I don't think mgartner knew this so I don't fault him for it. The only modifications that have been made since mgartner gave it away have come from OTHER people and unique just slapped it together.

This VS should become open source since mgartner gave it away and unique just lets it rot. Just think of the creativity and IMPROVEMENTS that would come if this was open source...

Oh well...it's not like we're hurting for quality VS's from quality themers right now anyway.

Is it "politcally correct" in such circumstances for interested people to try and contact mgartner instead and ask (politely of course), whilst informing him of the status of the theme, and appropriate permissions to continually maintain and develop this theme, and is able to devote sufficient time and effort into improving it?

I'm sure many people would jump at the chance if mgartner also gave them the privellege to do it. Unique got it coz he tracked him down - he was the only one interested, I'd say it's more likely you'll get it if interest is shown to find mgartner. That way, everyone'll be happy and mgartner will know the status of the seemingly halted development of this much beloved theme. =)

Well, unique obviously doesn't care anymore so how could it be politically incorrect for someone to contact [mgartner]. He's still around so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to ask him.

I mean, just think if someone like bant or kol or themenorth got a hold of this thing. I'd sure be interested to say the least...

Hey guys! Funny how the ###### have come back out to spew their words of wisdom....

I have granted permission to an individual to use my theme and alter it...in fact, its already been released....I will pack it up and toss it in the zip file...and in case you all forget, I said, do your mods, and send them into me....no worries...i am at work, and will get into this more when i get home...

laters all.

All the people complaining that they want open source are the same people that drove unique away from this theme in the first place. So you should be mad at yourselves. I personaly want to thank you morons for ruining a great theme. I hope unique does get back to this because it's a great theme and it's a shame the village idiots keep ruining it.

Please unique for the sake of the rest of us give this theme another shot. Thanks for your consideration.

Save it, you don't know the half of it...

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
