i've never played or seen anyone play Borderlands before and have a few questions.

Will it be like L4D? Better to game with 3 other mates, and when they are unavailable, you just auto connect with 4 other players via internet? Or can you play solo? I wish it was alot more independent, but you could then create parties, that would have been epic!

Borderlands, like more Diablo-style games, is better played with friends. It's always great to show off/share loot with your friends, and the characters have some great synergy when played as a team. Tanky Gunzerker, as a stealth Zer0 flanks from behind or snipes for example.

Played for a few hours tonight... Even more fun than the first :D

Playing as Zer0 with my friend playing Axton and just scraped the surface of their skills (only level 8 so far), but so far they are both looking like great characters. Badass skills are a welcome addition. Looking forward to lots more playing tomorrow!

Just picked up my PS3 version during my bank run.... Now waiting for lunch hour... after lunch hour, going to just be counting the hours down til closing time. Game looks so awesome. Gearbox is going to become one of the best gaming companies in a little while. They seem to be on track with what gamers really want.

I'm really looking forward to getting some time to play this game. My brother and I played the first one to death back in the day. Unfortunately, I won't get much time to play this week. (Anniversary on Thursday, and friend's wedding on Friday) I'm totally jealous of those of you who are playing already.

How is Zer0? He's the one I'm going to play with first, but some of his talents were kind of ambiguous. (Like Counter Strike and Killing blow). They could be really, really awesome...or really, really terrible depending on the thresholds used (which aren't mentioned). How is he playing early game so far?

Love the Intro/Theme song to the game

If you got it on ps3, add me - PeanutTown

Yeah hearing that made me a little mad I didn't go to the launch party to see them live.

Btw added you LOC as soonerfreak.

Love the dialogue so far. Laughed out loud about 10 times, and only about 10 minutes into the game.

Best one so far is, " I bought a pony made out of diamonds, because I'm rich like that. Was trying to think of a name for him that reminded me of you... **** for brains just doesn't sound right." :p

For someone who hasn't played Borderlands, and is burnt out on FPS for the time being, would I dislike this game?

Only asking because a bud of mine is begging for me to pick it up, but I'm not sure I am ready for another FPS at this point. Are the RPG elements enough to make me forget about it? Just wondering.

I think you'd like it. But, then again it IS an FPS game, with RPG elements. Slightly more RPG elements than say, Mass Effect etc. But it does have RPG elements none the less. Also, with the new Bad Ass system, you can tweak your guys pretty well now also. So maybe...slightly more RPG-ish? :p

Looks like I am going to have some time to check out the PC version tonight. Will see if anyone is on Steam when I do. I do need a little bit to play with graphics settings though, need to make sure it is running the best it can. I also never beat Borderlands 1, so I am a casual Borderlands player, so keep this in mind if we do play, I may not know exactly what I am doing. But I am decent at shooting stuff.

I can't decide if I like Clap Trap or Handsome Jack more.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
