But despite the fact that our posts were in direct proximity you jumped on my slightly disapproving post and not his pro MS post. Freud would love it ;)

His also had a TL;DR quote that i didn't read, which meant I also skipped out on his posting directly below it...whereas yours was right at the bottom and easier to spot.

You can believe it's a conspiracy against you though if you wish. ;)

Don't think it's a conspiracy against me, I just think it's funny that you bitched at me in another thread for being biased when you are so obviously biased as well. I dislike hypocrisy ;)

Oh really? I posted up the actual numbers...and stated your math was off. Your math was off...that's not bias...that's a fact. You called out that the other guy was wrong...pointed out the post...I checked and said you both were wrong...which is a fact.

So posting up straight math and showing that you were both wrong isn't a bias...it's pointing out what the math says.

The other thread, you were thread crapping about something you don't like...which you engage in yourself. If you don't like hypocrits then I suggest you start with yourself and then work on everyone else.

The point of the other thread was subscriber perks...not let's talk about what Javik doesn't like about site administration. You want to have that discussion then contact an admin/mod via the reports or PM's, or start a thread about it as regards site administration.

Derailing a thread is not the way to do it.

Now back on topic...

I think this will be easier if I just stick you on my ignore list to be frank. I'm quite sick of the way you constantly talk down to me.

Hey if you were more polite, and actually attempted civil conversation then that might not happen. I tend to talk down to those that try to be arrogant or condescending to me.

I believe in the concept of you reap what you sow.

BTW text itself doesn't have tonal qualities...so you don't know if I'm amused, upset, or just plain non-committal in nature with my posts. You'd probably be surprised.

Feel free though...I have 3 people on my ignore list...so I wouldn't look down on you for that. Chances are you will end up missing good information at some point though as I'm one of the few around here not afraid to post information to combat misinformation. :p

Intel sure are taking their sweet time getting some chipset drivers ready.

If you're talking about the Chipset INF stuff it's not really needed. That support is baked into the OS and usually the Chipset INF stuff is more just for identification purposes than for actual function.

great! Lets install windows 7 and forget this nightmare called windows 8 once and for all

Insult to the injury is always better, you may use windows 8 but don't ever dare to go to the "store" or use the start screen.... plus using a Start Menu, like Start8.

I would say nice attempt at a slam there but I would be lying.

The problem with your statement is that regardless of platform almost all apps are made by a third party.

So you might want to apply that to all of those Apple commercials as well...if you're going to go that route.

I really cant quite recall using 'ANY' third party app to make a Windows system usable?, at least, not till now? , and I have used most :)

Considering the fact that the system is usable that's not an issue. Just because you don't like the design, doesn't mean it's not usable. You just personally don't want to use it...which is your choice...but doesn't mean it's not usable.

If you want to get into needing third party apps on an OS to fill functionality gaps? Well then that's the case for every OS on the market...so nothing new there either...so my point still stands.

The Metro Start Screen and the hot corners don't make the system unusable. Poor choice of words. In no way, shape, or form do they prevent me from completing my tasks.

Not a 'poor choice of words'. Maybe in 'your' eyes, yes, but certainly not in mine, sorry.

Are you dating Ballmer? Are you wanting his job? Is this the real reason Sinboy left? Was he threatened by YOU!?

So in other words your opinion is law and anyone who disagrees deserves ridicule?

Thanks for helping me add to my ignored list :)

Thanks for helping me add to my ignored list :)

Well thank god for that lol :)

But, I could say the same, as in 'switch' it around, and say, so you think your opinion is law?, and if I, or anyone else disagrees with it, we are making fun of you?

Nonsense!

what I don't understand is if tey are all against the start menu and giving choice as to wheter I want use it instead of the start screen and the answer they give is "well why do you need the start menu you have the new and improved start screen we needed to teke out the code because it was soooooooooo muchhhhhh code it was slowing down windows" well if that was the case then why then they don't get rid of IE10 in the desktop they got anotherone in metro, and why they don't block facebook on the web to prevent it downloading stuff you already have apps and integration in metro, and what about calendar, calculator, tweeter, and all the oter redundant aplications on the desktop, they take sooooooooooo muchhhhhhhhhhhh space like the start menu and consume resources and for what? you got them in metro so why do they give you choice for those apps and not the start menu????? another thing if they say the windows 8 is soooooo muchhhhh faster than windows 7 then why did they take out Aero if they are so afraid of resources being used they why not take the whole interface out and go back to a text interface that would be a "Fast" interface and will use almost no resources no animations no transicions no transparecy no icons that would make windows way faster lol :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: and if you don't like a text only interface "well you got windows 7 to go back :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: /sc" don't get me wrong I like some of the improvements of windows 8 on the desktop part but what I think they should have done was make a separe version for the tablets or at least give the choice of whether you wanted it or not as simple as that.

If I move my cursor down to the lower left corner, and click, Start opens. I click a tile, an app opens, and if that app happens to be a Win32 app, I'm taken back to the desktop. I can scroll "down" Start using my mouse wheel. If I need back on the desktop, it's only a click or a key press away.

If I move my cursor to the top left corner, the task switcher opens, I click a window, and an app running in the background opens.

If I move my cursor to the top right corner, Charms opens.

I can still install the apps I need.

I can still work the way I want to.

Seems like the OS works perfectly fine to me. Completely usable.

I think you're looking for opinionated words like 'unconventional', 'inconvenient', maybe 'troublesome', etc...

1. Wall of text...please fix it.

2. They didn't talk about it like it was so much code. They had made some serious changes to the OS, and the older start wasn't able to handle some of the changes they made. Their telemetry data was able to tell them how often the start button was actually used. So looking at that data they knew it wasn't really being used, and they already had the start screen ready.

You should read some of the earlier posts...in particular the post that links to an explanation from one of the folks that worked on OS. It has all this info and more. The reasons for removal were valid.

Oh, and yeah...they didn't take out Aero. They took out Glass on the frames...but Glass is still present on the taskbar...and Aero is still the primary theme, but with some changes made for Windows 8.

So again...please don't post up something like this without at least checking what you're saying.

Guys. **** the damn menu. It doesn't need to be around anymore. The Start screen is more attractive and functional, and it totally destroys the entire purpose of re-imagining Windows. Does nobody think before they write, anymore?

Lol. You obviously have very poor taste. Your desktop probably looks completely unorganized and ugly.

OCD much

if no one was using it then why put a bigger one that I don't need to use and if I wanted all my icons on the screen Fences is great for that just doble click and they disapear, you don't need the start screen

and if you take out animations, transicions, transparency, and graphics the os will become faster, that's pretty valid to me to make a text OS

really they took out what made Aero Aero without the glass effect guess what it is called "Classic"

You tell me. All my icons are organized into groups on the Start Screen. My desktop is as clean as it can be. :D

you don't need the start screen to hide your icons, Fences works great for that and you can organaize them into groups too plus you don't need to get out of desktop mode

The Ultra 9 185H features 16 cores and 22 threads running at up to 5.1 GHz. It also includes a dedicated NPU utilizing Intel AI Boost at 11 TOPS. On the graphics front, the 185H includes the still fairly capable ARC Graphics (not to be confused with the newer ARC 140T) integrated GPU with a max GPU frequency of 2350 MHz across 8 Xe-cores. It has been said that the iGPU is equivalent to the NVIDIA GeForce 3050 and GTX 1650 in gaming and synthetic benchmarks. Other highlights include an AMOLED display, LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. AI PC? Although the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H includes a dedicated NPU, it's only 11 TOPS; therefore, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ PC. However, it can reach up to 33 TOPS with a combination of NPU, CPU, and GPU. As I said, although we only reviewed the X14 Pro, the unboxing is the same for the X16 Pro, which I noted in my review. The packaging is quite a nice experience. The outer box houses the X16 Pro box with a small compartment that contains the 5-in-1 Dock ($40 value), which appears to be an "Early Bird" inclusion. Upon removing the box cover, the X16 Pro is revealed sitting in a cardboard compartment with two small booklets of documentation. To the left of the X16 Pro are two cardboard compartments containing the 65W charger and Type-C USB cable. What’s In The Box 1 x GEEKOM X16 Pro Ultra-thin Laptop 1 x Type-C to Type-C cable 1.8M 1 x 65W GaN PD Fast Charger 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Thank You Card 1 x User Guide All products sold by GEEKOM receive a 3-year free Warranty from the date you receive the product.
