Will do as soon as I get home. I'll see if I can update the server to 1.6.4 while I'm at it.

Take your time -- give Optifine a few revisions. :)

Also, is the server going to be wiped for 1.7?  I'd really rather not put in too much effort now if I'm going to lose everything...

Thanks!

Yes, the world is going to be reset for 1.7. That said the final release of 1.7 is still some time away, so go forth and build!

Sad to hear that. I really hate that they can't find a solution to this problem of new features not being present on already-generated chunks. I wish they'd dedicate some time to world-merging code and unmodified chunk detection. They should be able to detect which chunks are either unmodified or ungenerated and run a blending algorithm to integrate them into existing worlds. Losing all your work when the developer adds new features is NOT FUN.

Since I'm very much a casual player, I'll probably just wait. Even if it's two months away, I'm not likely do a whole lot in that time -- especially with the reset hanging over my head.

I'll probably look more into chunk deletion on my own server. I'm NOT redoing everything just because Mojang doesn't think it's important enough to give a smooth upgrade path.

If you are going to reset, can you please not chose large biomes?

Thanks!

Server updated to 1.6.4

As for whether or not to use large biomes after a reset - I'll go with what the community suggests.

Large biomes didn't work very well in 1.6.2 in my opinion. The biomes were enormous and I couldn't find the sea and rivers were huge lakes and swamps stretched very far into rivers and mixed.

Unless 1.7 large biomes are generated differently, thee large biomes would be a bad idea.

How about amplified?

Actually you may get something like that on a normal world generation in 1.7.  I found a really high savanna plateau...something seemed a bit off.

Just found out that that is a normal terrain generation in 1.7.  It's actually called savanna plateau M

Finally some more difference in biomes and such. more flowers too :P It makes the world a lot less boring.

also baby pigmen and baby zombies will become 1 block high :( gonna break everyone's old mob grinder :P at least with the latest snapshot. but we can at least capture em separately now.

And yeah back to a survival only world please :) as for PVP, if its as before, this can be done in the nether and the end :)

Still waiting for that mobspawner pick mod :P

What's going on with the server?  What's the emergency mode and why can't we make any changes?

-Forjo

Hm? I updated some plug-ins over the weekend, I wonder if it's because of that.

Ask Timan to have a look, as I am unable to do it atm (still at work and won't be home for another 3 1/2 hours).

It is.

Just still really hesitant about doing anything significant in light of the server wipe.  :(

-Forjo

It'll be some time before 1.7 goes final. Then we have to wait for a compatible Bukkit build, plug-ins to be compatible - in other words, feel free to build now, and be it only to try out things for the 1.7 world.

just to let every one know i am making a new mob spawner under my house to test it for the new reset of the map and to mack shear it won't cause lag and if it dose pleas let me know and there will be a on/off switch on it if im not online.

and y cant i us TNT?

That's 27% off and $90 saved for a solid Wi-Fi solution that covers your entire home (purchase link down below). The 2-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) and supports 100+ connected devices, which handles the vast majority of home setups without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6E brings access to the 6 GHz band for lower latency across the network, and the 2.5 Gb Ethernet port supports gigabit+ internet plans if your ISP offers them. eero's TrueMesh technology handles traffic routing automatically, so you're not manually managing which devices connect to which node. You set up the entire thing through the eero app, and the entire process takes a few minutes. The system also receives automatic security updates in the background, so once you set it up, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If you're covering a larger home or want more nodes, the 3-pack is $329.99 and the 4-pack is $479.98, both at similar discount levels. It's worth mentioning that a newer model exists, which is likely the reason for the discount, but the Pro 6E is still perfectly capable hardware for most homes. • Ladybird Browser is no longer accepting outside contributions thanks to AI by David Uzondu The Ladybird Browser Project has announced it will no longer accept public pull requests and will limit changes to those made by its maintainers as it works towards its first alpha release. According to Ladybird's creator Andreas Kling, this is "not a change we make lightly," but the rapid shift in AI capabilities forced their hand. Previously, a massive PR implied that the person behind it put a lot of care into the code and is ready to "answer for the consequences." Now with AI, anyone can generate a PR without even understanding the bug fix or feature they want merged. The blog post goes on to say that the team is closing all open public pull requests immediately, and that maintainers will not treat external forks as a review queue for upstream Ladybird. Instead, the team wants outside contributors to focus on reporting bugs and running tests. Kling started Ladybird back in 2019 as LibHTML, a simple HTML viewer for his hobby operating system, SerenityOS, but by September 2022, it had turned into a full-fledged browser project. What sets Ladybird apart from the likes of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox is its totally independent engine, which does not rely on pre-existing codebases. The project maintains a strict policy against default search engine deals or user data monetization, keeping development funded entirely by donations and sponsorships. Generative AI is forcing open source project maintainers to rethink how they handle public code contributions (and the whole open-source thing in general). One month ago, a leak about the National Health Service (NHS) suggested the organization was planning to take all of its public repositories private ahead of a May 11 deadline, thanks to Mythos (an AI model that Anthropic believes is too dangerous to be released to the public) and its ability to find and write exploits for zero-day vulnerabilities. Thankfully, the Government Digital Service (GDS) issued a counter-report titled "AI, open code and vulnerability risk in the public sector" that stopped the shutdown by pointing out that hiding code does not improve security.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
