last gen graphics? hard to tell, but keep in mind this was designed for 360/PS3 most likely, then pushed back as per usual. The more they show of this game, the more i like it. Anyone that puts a friggin ED enforcer droid INSIDE a moving train gets my vote of confidence. On a serious note, the German half of me is still somewhat annoyed at the non-stop "ze nazis" content we get. Of course while playing Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 2

Hopefully this will sell well, and the money will go to a truly nextgen looking sequel. The graphics wowed me on Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the original xbox, used to split screen co op with my Dad.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was one of the first games of that particular generation, the early 2000's. It did look very good on PC, and i guess also on Xbox. Didn't even realize there was an Xbox version. I don't expect New Order to be as technically impressive, rather competent. This is most likely a re-tooled held back release, so keep expectations in perspective. The next one will be more impressive, for sure.

Couldn't agree more.

They captured the insane sadism, masochism, and sexual perversion of the Nazi's

They captured the prevalent image that has pandered to a propaganda stereotype, yes.

While i agree that the constant use of Germans/Nazis borders on bad taste and racism, it is important to note that Wolfenstein is parody at heart, and not ill intentioned. However, of course there is a double standard. Swap the Nazi Germany here with China, Israel, or any African or Arab country, and see how far your game goes...

They make for convenient bad guys, for sure, just like zombies, as there seems to be no controversy with killing them. Ditto corrupt cops, PMCs, and nationalists. I agree games with Nazis usually make at least some token effort to differentiate them from "regular" German people, and will often even have a "good German" character or two thrown in for good measure. However, i think many sensible people will agree that this use of Nazis is just a way to be a justified bigot.

Anyway, i will be playing this game and enjoying it for sure! I'm not that heavy, just saying it is getting a little trite.

I think that is simply incorrect.

Naziism (NOT Germans in general) is completely fair game for videogame fodder - developers are even careful to rarely if ever refer to Nazis as germans, prefering to use the terms 'Axis' or whatever instead.

Using Nazis as enemies in videogames serves a very useful purpose of making that part of history relevant to todays youth.  The worst thing the world can do is to forget or ignore that it ever happened.  The world needs reminders, even tounge-in-cheek videogame reminders, so that it keeps the memory afloat enough to keep reminding people how disgusting the whole thing was.

Otherwise why not stop producing war movies or even showing them? Let's stop showing war documentaries for their anti-German propoganda?

The graphics and gameplay look awesome. However, the violence is a bit too graphic for me (especially when using a knife [ie. stabbing]).

The original Wolfenstein is a classic, but I have concerns about this new one (from a psychological point of view). I played the original when I was a kid - if I played this new one then, I think I'd be pretty scared. People under the age of 21 strictly shouldn't play it from my opinion.

Whatever happened to the free "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory?" loved it but I must have deleted or lost it at some point lol

Edit: Found it wonder if there's a decent multiplayer presence for it still :P (downloading now).

There is still a huge presence there with a good skill or casual player base depending on what your after.

It's still my top multiplayer game. Think the way the maps were designed and objectives made it feel like you were in a right tussle.

Really do agree with you on the remembrence aspect, and in no way am i advocating censorship. Just my personal feelings are that there's overkill, and at some point it just becomes a free for all where it's OK to do anything to "them" because they're Nazis, or PMCs, or nationalist Russians, or fifth column American traitors, or evil mega corporations..you know what i mean. It's a delicate balance, and i feel we have crossed into the realm of no longer reminding people of the horrors of WWII-era atrocities, but rather just using symbols of that period as convenient objects to gib.

Hahaha didn't mean to turn this into a discussion on the merits and demerits of having Nazis in games, very much looking forward to this and will certainly enjoy it.

This game was dead to me as soon as I heard it had no multiplayer.

We all want that awesome RTCW or Wolf:ET multiplayer feeling again damn you! -shakes fist-

Single player action FPS games are for teenage boys on consoles.

I think its actually Multiplayer cashcow action FPS games are for teenage boys on consoles.

SP games are perfectly fine...

They should have used something other than id Tech 5. After Rage, I vowed never to play a game using that engine. It's awful. This game looks kinda interesting too so that's a shame. I imagine it would have looked a lot better with CryEngine.

Definitely. RAGE was a disaster from a technical perspective - the textures were incredibly low resolution, the texture streaming was slow, the game environments had incredibly low polygon counts, it had no dynamic lighting (all the shadows were pre-baked onto the textures), etc. The engine was dated for last-gen and it's clear to see it hasn't improved much. Given that it's the only first-person shooter confirmed to run at 1080p @ 60fps on the Xbox One I think it's clear that it really doesn't push the boundaries when it comes to graphics and nothing I've seen suggests the gameplay is any better.

I think I'll pass on this one.

With the recent public release of Unreal Engine 4, I'm confident that id Tech 5 will slip into obsolescence. What a joke of an engine.

Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition

game-ce-wolf-neworder-full.jpg

Limited to only 5,000 individually numbered editions, the Wolfenstein?: The New Order? Panzerhund Edition comes in a vintage footlocker-style box (measuring approximately 20" x 10.5" x 8.5") with a stamped number plate right above the antiqued clasp.

Inside, you'll find a classified folder affixed to the lid containing 11 classified documents (an assortment of maps, case files, and even an x-ray).

The bulk of the footlocker houses an 8" articulated Panzerhund statue. Made of high quality vinyl material (PVC and ABS) the statue is hand painted, includes a base, and strikes a surprisingly menacing pose for a scaled-down replica.

Inset in a velvet-lined tray is an exclusive Steelbook, and a set of 14 full-color weathered-looking postcards of the game's alternate history, bound in a display book.

Lifting this tray reveals compartments housing a set of three high-quality, embroidered patches, and a box containing custom molded replica dog tags, looped and knotted on twine string.

This collector's edition does not include a copy of the game. Keep your pre-order at your favorite retailer and we'll send you these goodies separately?this way we can ship these boxes worldwide and you're not stuck waiting for your game to come along with an oversized, expensively shipped box.

Photos are of our prototypes; final products may vary slightly.

Typically I'm not into these things, but this one looks cool as ####. I'm seriously considering it. If the RTM textures are acceptable. For $100 I guess one shouldn't expect a $60 game, but I'd rather pay $150-ish and have some sort of tin for the DVD. Guess I can't make fun of people who buy these anymore. Hope the game lives up to this.

Love the Panzerhund but Ninja Theory's in Enslaved might be more awesome.

    • Google reshuffles its AI coding team as it struggles to catch Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is already reorganizing the AI coding “strike team” it created roughly two months ago, as it attempts to find ways to close the gap with Anthropic in one of generative AI’s most commercially important areas. According to The Information, Google DeepMind is expanding the team’s focus to include “midtraining,” rather than concentrating only on coding tools and agents. Midtraining takes place after a model’s broad initial training but before the final stages that prepare it to follow instructions and perform specific tasks. In simple terms, it gives developers another opportunity to expose a model to carefully selected data before it is polished for release. That could help Google improve Gemini’s underlying coding abilities instead of relying only on better prompts, interfaces, or post-training. Previous research has found that midtraining can be particularly effective for code and mathematics, where models must move from general language knowledge to more structured tasks. Google reportedly created the original strike team in April. It was led by Google DeepMind research engineer Sebastian Borgeaud, who previously worked on model pretraining, and focused on complex, long-running programming jobs. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Google DeepMind chief technology officer Koray Kavukcuoglu were also reportedly involved in the effort. DeepMind researchers were said to believe that Anthropic’s coding tools were outperforming Google’s Gemini models, prompting the company to give the project more attention. Anthropic has made coding a central part of its AI strategy through Claude Code and its Claude model family. The company has continued improving that area, with Claude Opus 4.8 offering upgrades for coding and other agentic tasks, along with the now-unavailable Mythos and Fable models. The reshuffle also comes at a time when Google faces increased competition for AI researchers. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer recently announced that he was leaving Google for OpenAI, while two other researchers who contributed to Gemini and DeepMind projects are reportedly preparing to join Anthropic. It remains unclear whether the reorganized team will produce a new public Gemini model or developer product. No release date, team size, or specific performance target has been disclosed.
