George Zimmerman has been found not guilty!

Trayvon Martin was beating on Zimmerman and smashing his head into the concrete, yep Trayvon is totally innocent. Dont want to be shot? Then dont put yourself in the position to get shot.

Zimmerman was part of a neighborhood watch. the police tell you to report any suspecious activity if they think something up. He followedhim and reported suspicious activity.. Nothing wrong with that.

Do they also tell you to confront the person, who at that moment in time, was not committing any crime.

Did they go into detail about what this suspicious activity was?.. Here in the UK the police will stop any 'suspicious' looking character in the street to see what they are up to, but this could be something as simple as a scruffy looking guy with his hood up walking down the street, my point is, just because someone looks suspicious it doesn't mean they are actually doing anything wrong... what was this guy doing that made Zimmerman confront him that absolutely could not wait until the police arrived?

I believe the jury was correct, they submitting a verdict based on evidence, but if someone was alive to defend the dead guy i think it would have been very different.

Zimmerman would probably be better off in jail, he'll be weaker on the streets.

He still 'lost'...hes never going to have a normal life simply because everything is a race issue for blacks in america.  They've been productive, Paula Deen and Zimmerman, wonder who's next on their quest to blame everyone for their bad image.

if i had the amount of time to do the things that Zimmerman accused Martin of I'd be the one on trial. A kid doesn't know how to use concrete as a murder weapon like an adult. So many accuse the US Government of evil of spying on it citizens but it's A OK to follow someone. The hypocrisy in in all of this is nothing short of me wanting to fly to Moscow.

Zimmerman is not a cop so why did he continue to follow Martin? In Canada you can use as much force as is necessary to repel an attack, that dosen't mean if someone punches you, you can pull a gun and shoot him. We have but one persons account of what happened that is the one that is still alive. So now we have to go by that account, but in my life time no 15 year old kid would have put me on the pavement by himself, but thats just me. This is a good reason why fools should not be carrying guns as people end up dead

for no reason. Zimmerman was told not to follow Martin if he had listened Martin would not be dead that is a fact. As for this race crap I have seen it pulled for the slightest things, it becomes hard to believe after awhile.

Wait second. Look at the Paula Deen case before making this stupid comment,

Have you ever seen a high school fight before? Apparently you don't know how vicious kids can be.

You make it sound like Trayvon was a 4 year old.... What 17 year old doesn't know Concrete = Hard? Like most people who seem to be "defending" Trayvon you forget about the pictures on his phone showing guns, weed, thugish things, He wasn't the innocent little angel the media portrayed to the mindless masses. But what ever, that doesnt matter, what matters now is the backlash from this verdict. I understand some people will protest(even though that in its self undermines the whole trial) but im worried about "certain" members of the black community who will use it for an excuse to cause havoc (and before i get screams of racism, this was already said by a group of black supports and several hundred/thousand black twitter users)

I don't buy this self defense BS. Why did he follow the kid and why would a 17 year old attack someone holding a gun while they are on the way home? I am convinced that he wanted to shoot someone and a neighborhood watch is suppose to do just that...watch. I hope his life is miserable.

you SHOULD really realize that the Prosecution had the burden of proof to prove zimmerman had intent on killing trayvon. they failed miserably. even the prosecutions own expert witness testified in such a way that shredded their case. there was NEVER a case to begin with. the ONLY reason they had the trial was to "appease" the feral animals who were screaming murder. Also to "appease" al sharpton too.

I bet they feel stupid now...

I'm confused.. are you americans ok with guns or just when it suits you?

He still 'lost'...hes never going to have a normal life simply because everything is a race issue for blacks in america.  They've been productive, Paula Deen and Zimmerman, wonder who's next on their quest to blame everyone for their bad image.

what gets me is, trayvons mom right after his death, wanted to copyright her sons name to make hoodies and other novelties. What a stinking mess and then call zimmerman out like he is an animal. if trayvon were alive today, he'd stand trial, probably as an adult for assault. he had thc from weed in his blood at the time of him attacking Zimmerman.

some folks here have narrow tunnel vision

I'm confused.. are you americans ok with guns or just when it suits you?

we're ok with them when... laws like Floridas "stand your ground" exist.

I'm confused.. are you americans ok with guns or just when it suits you?

Im from the UK.... I don't agree with guns being readily available, but i understand that they're here, and there is nothing you can do now about stopping it in the US, there will always be people pro guns and people anti guns. But that being said, given the choice of weapon if someone was attacking me and i thought i was in serious danger.... I'd pick the gun any time. I would also shoot to kill someone if they were on top of me slamming my head into concrete.. And im sorry but if anyone says they wouldn't then you're either 1) A liar, or 2) Don't value your own life. In my world My life > Random guy smashing my face in.

That jury is, holy crap... ****ing dumb.

no they are not. they were smart enough to see that the prosecution had no case. the former police chief who resigned even said they didn't have enough evidence to try him. the whole trial was meant to "appease" the people.. wait a minute... the same people who claim zimmerman is a murderer want to kill zimmerman.... and are calling out to murder him..

Hypocrisy reigns supreme!!!!!!!!

Absolutely astounding to me that people think this is just.

Unbelievable...

Zimmerman initiated a conflict which ended with him shooting dead an unarmed 17 year old & he is not even found guilty of manslaughter?

...that's ok with you?

It seems pretty sick to me.

Zimmerman didnt touch him first. There was a rash of break ins so he followed him because he was suspicious, not because hes racist but because.he was concerned. Trayvon being the punk that he is hit Zimmerman in the nose causing it to fracture and making him fall then Trayvon beat him and he ultimately lost his life. If someone is following you, that doesnt give you the right to hit someone. If you are worried about someone following you, call the police. Dont get macho and fight them...

I can understand why people were against George Zimmerman. Especially with some of the stories on biased news stations. It took time after reading evidence and allowing the full story to unravel that I was able to see the true order of events. Unfortunately, there are parents without their child. Was it the best decisions Zimmerman could have made? Probably not. Would I have done the same? No. However, I understand why he did. The prosecution painted this image of a little boy who was a perfect member of society. Too bad he was a full-grown 17 year old starting to become a thug. Maybe not even a thug, but you could probably tell that he was not an innocent child. I am sure he had testosterone flowing through him like any other teenager, and perhaps that is what gave him the courage to confront Zimmerman.

What annoys me is when everything on Neowin turns in to a political debate. We need not discuss gun laws in this thread, there is another devoted to that. He was able to defend himself legally. End of story. The jury made their decision. You cannot go back in time. The prosecution was grasping at straws the entire case. The only positive they had in their case was liberal news outlets turning this in to a racial issue. With that said, the only reason that was a big deal is because a large portion of America has their head up their asses.

what bothered me about the whole case was, while some here are calling the case a travesty for trayvon and his family and black community (not in those exact words) the defense was DENiED the ability to present facts in the court room. the cell phone pics of him smoking weed, holding guns and some other stuff that the defense wasn't allowed to use. I think this was because the prosecution itself and DOJ who funded protests link here  who knew that there was no case. Even the former police chief stated on the record that there wasn't any evidence to charge zimmerman.

next; it was racial division. how so? Zimmerman is Hispanic NOT white. this was an attempt by the DOJ and conspiring main stream media who, has NO credibility and losing viewership all the time who attempted to shove racial disharmony on America. if the people hate each other, they won't stand together to complain how crappy our economy has been raped by the rich. a great distraction to take our minds off of being bent over in that regard.

But the whole case, was a fraud. why wasn't the defense allowed to present evidence about trayvon having jewelry, tools to break into where ever to steal items and he couldn't explain where he got them? why did the media always show the young 12 year old trayvons picture and NOT the 17 year old who had THC in his blood, pics of him with guns etc?

why did his mommy apply to copyright trayvons name so she could sell hoodies etc? - to make a buck off the tragedy! she couldn't care too much for the boy if all she could think of was making money off his name!!!!

LOL! the only humor I got was watching feral animals attempting to riot by burning down oakland after the verdict. as joe pesci would say, "g' head morons, buring your own stinking homes down, who gives a F%^&!? it's YOUR home!"

Again Zimmerman initated the conflict. He may not have thrown the first punch but there was zero need for him to do anything. Instead he was losing a fist fight so he pulled out his gun & shot Trayvon.

Like it or not this IS about guns & race.

You think this would have turned out the same if it was a black man shooting a white man? I wonder if stand your ground laws would hold up then.

Absolutely astounding to me that people think this is just.

boy.. you need to research the incident before you comment. you just showed us you have NO clue as to what happened.

it may be over now, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Martin family takes Zimmerman to civil court and wins, as the burden of proof is much lower ("preponderance of evidence," eg 51% to 49% vs. criminal court's "beyond a reasonable doubt")  Zimmerman's legal troubles are almost certainly not over.

I know that I may not have a thorough knowledge of the case, but I do know for a fact that the 911 POLICE operator told Zimmerman not to follow Martin, and he chose to anyway....  He wanted to be a vigilante protector of his neighborhood, and it was this act that facilitated a confrontation between Martin and Zimmerman...  Had Zimmerman not followed the kid, Martin would still be alive.

PS- Has anyone considered that Martin was maybe, you know, afraid of some guy following him, and thus attacked Zimmerman in order to scare him away?  ESPECIALLY considering the fact that he was a young black man, who by race is highly profiled (and definitely profiled in this case)?  Maybe MARTIN feared for his life when he saw Zimmerman...  And was trying to pre-emptively defend himself...  I don't think that's unreasonable...  Wrong? maybe, but not unreasonable given we humans are animals and do have basic animal instincts.  U think a porcupine wants to hurt you when he shoots his quills at you? No, he just doesn't want YOU to kill him, and will do whatever is necessary to get you to back off...

kind of hard to prove civil cases when the person who perpetrated or started the incident when the martin family member attacked first and Zimmerman was right in the eyes of the law under "stand your ground." Trayvon instigated by jumping zimmerman. plus, Zimmerman probably doesn't have anything to sue for. throughout the trial, he was broke.

The main thing in this case was that the Prosecution was never able to really prove Zimmermans story was wrong. Zimmermans story whether true or not is the only real evidence we had. They claimed he lied and exaggerated and were able to show holes in his story but thats about it. Had they been able to actually piece together a timeline of events and prove Zimmerman was in the wrong then maybe the outcome would have been different.

How do you know they're following you? They could be going in the same direction but to a destination near yours. Of course if you're going the cross- country route through the sub, cutting behind houses & community buildings off the normal pathways you ARE going to draw attention and suspicion.

Hell, black folks here would be raising the alarm too given the problems in the Detroit area. There was a story on the news tonight about members of a black community going up to suspicious cars in their neighborhood and challenging their intentions.

It isn't race, it's behavior.

You forgot jumping the fence to a gated community.

    • A review of Synology's BeeCamera software for the BeeStation Plus by Christopher White Synology is leaning into the BeeStation and the BeeStation Plus, and it's easy to understand why. While power users will want something more customizable, the BeeStation and its more powerful sibling, the BeeStation Plus, are great for those who want a device they can simply plug in, click a few buttons, and have it work as their own personal cloud. Until recently, the device was mostly used for the storage of files, photos, and videos, and with the Plus model, you could install and stream media through Plex. Synology recently released a new free application for the BeeStation Plus called BeeCamera, which is basically a stripped-down version of Surveillance Station. First, let's get the confusing naming out of the way. While you might initially think that BeeCamera is a physical device, perhaps a camera that Synology created specifically for the BeeStation Plus, that would be incorrect. BeeCamera is simply the name for the application that runs on the NAS and on your mobile device. I think the marketing team missed the mark here, but it does fit the other naming on the device, like BeePhotos and BeeFiles, I guess. Camera Support As of right now, only Synology-branded cameras are supported, which many will see as a callback to the drive locking the company implemented and then backtracked on. That said, while I 100% disagree on drive locking, I agree that camera locking for a device made to simply plug and play is the right decision. The whole point of the BeeStation line is simplicity. There are currently three camera model lines available, a wireless device for indoor use, and two PoE models for external use. CC400W (Wi-Fi): Plug it into power using the included power adapter, and connect it to your wireless network. This camera is rated only for indoor use and is the one I was provided to review the BeeCamera. $198.36, in line with the Unifi G6 Compact. BC510 (PoE): A bullet-style camera. Connect it to an Ethernet cable that is providing Power over Ethernet (PoE). This camera is rated for both indoor and outdoor use. $240. TC510 (PoE): A dome-style camera. Connect it to an Ethernet cable that is providing Power over Ethernet (PoE). This camera is rated for both indoor and outdoor use. $240. Although this isn't a review of the actual Synology camera, I did want to note that a positive for the Synology CC400W is that it uses a magnetic base. This means you can mount it on any magnetic surface, which is pretty handy. However, a downside to the camera is that it's powered by a built-in USB cable that's about six and a half feet (two meters) long. This means that the cable will probably be either too long or too short, but more importantly, if the cable is damaged at all, you'll likely need to buy an entirely new camera because there doesn't appear to be a way to replace it, unlike many competitors, like the Unifi G6 Instant. Hopefully, this is something Synology addresses in a future revision of the hardware. The BeeStation Plus supports up to four cameras. Setup The setup of BeeCamera is, like everything in the BeeStation family, very straightforward. Simply make sure you're on at least version 1.5 of the BeeStation OS, and BeeCamera is automatically installed on the device. BeeCamera Setup Screenshots Setting up the CC400W was just as easy. Plug it in, open up the BeeCamera app, and follow the on-screen steps to add the camera. During this process, you'll configure the camera name and how many days of retention you want to keep. The system will also automatically update the firmware for you. The whole thing took only a couple of minutes, excluding the time it took for the camera to update the firmware. Once the camera is connected to the BeeStation Plus, you can manage the various camera settings within the app, although there aren't many to choose from. You're able to configure whether the microphone will record audio (some privacy laws may preclude you from recording it), select what codec to use (H.264 or H.265), configure the color and exposure of the camera, and determine what data you want to overlay onto the video. Finally, you can set up AI detections so that BeeCamera will alert you if it sees certain things. These are all of the common detections you would expect in a camera system, such as people, pets, and vehicles. Under people and vehicles, you can also add extra monitoring for lingering and congestion detection, although pets are currently in "Lab" and therefore have no extra features yet. Recording in 4K using H.265 for 30 days will take roughly 300 GB of storage, which is very reasonable for most regular households, as the BeeStation Plus has 8TB of native storage. If you want to set up detection zones, you can. These are areas that BeeCamera will look at for the various detections, and are helpful if, for example, there's a tree in your frame and you don't want to be notified each time the wind makes the branches move around in the frame. Finally, you can also schedule when the camera should and should not be recording, which is a very useful feature. For example, you may want to record only at night when you're sleeping, but not during the day when you're up and about the house, so you can easily shut the camera off between 8 am and 10 pm. Each hour of each day can be configured to record continuously, only upon a detection event, or disabled completely. You can't fine-tune to record at a specific time, though, only hourly blocks on the hour. Daily Use The best part of BeeCamera is that it's easy and just works. If you only care about being notified when things happen, the mobile app sends those notifications and lets you click the button to bring up the video and see what's going on. For example, when I went out of town and had the camera pointed at the cat tower in our hallway, it was nice to be able to drop in and check that my furry friends were doing okay without me. Initiating the remote connection to the BeeStation Plus through the app is very responsive, but this will heavily depend on your ISP. In my case, using Xfinity, I'm able to go from starting the app to seeing live video in roughly three seconds, which is about the same amount of time it takes to connect to my Unifi UNVR system that costs much more. If you want to see footage from a specific day and time, you can do so using the calendar icon. You can also scroll through the timeline, looking for detections that are labeled in blue (vs. the normal gray when there's nothing of interest). There are buttons that let you go to the last/next detection on the timeline, which is helpful if you missed the notification on your mobile device. That's where the ease of use stops, though. While you can download clips that are flagged by detection, there's apparently no way to select generic time frames you're interested in, and the only place to download is to your phone. In addition, sharing a video shares the actual video, not just a link back to your BeeStation Plus. While that's good from a security and privacy perspective, it's a little awkward for sharing large videos. Limitations While the ease of implementation is great, there are some things that are lacking from BeeCamera. The most obvious is that there is no way to view the footage on the desktop. You can log in to the BeeStation Plus to see how much storage BeeCamera is using, but unlike BeePhotos and BeeFiles, there is no BeeCamera on the web console to manage or view footage. This means you'll be viewing all of your security footage on your mobile device, which is pretty limiting. In addition, there's no way to download the video to your PC without first using your phone as the intermediary. The one exception to this is that you can use BeeFiles to see the raw MP4 files. They're saved in 5-minute increments, and it's just raw data with no detection information or any other way to identify what any of them are. The lack of a way to interact with BeeCamera on the desktop also makes configuration of the cameras more difficult. For example, trying to set up detection zones using a tiny screen and your finger to draw boxes is more cumbersome than it needs to be. This reinforces the idea that BeeCamera is not made for power users. It's also missing some of the more advanced functionality of Surveillance Station. For example, I couldn't find a way to say, "Alert me if the thing in this zone is no longer there." Another major deficiency with BeeCamera, and a feature I suspect may come out in the future, is that while it can detect generic people, there is no specific facial recognition yet. This is an interesting omission, given the fact that other Synology tools can detect specific individuals, and competitors such as Unifi Protect also do it. This is probably a software limitation, so we will have to wait and see if this feature is added in the future. Conclusion If you need a security guard to monitor surveillance cameras to make sure your property is secure, then BeeCamera is not the solution for you. That said, you probably wouldn't be using a BeeStation Plus as the brains behind the system either. BeeCamera (and BeeStation in general) is clearly aimed at households that want to avoid sending personal data to Google and Amazon, and now want to add some cameras to keep an eye on their home and their pets while they're away. BeeCamera excels at doing this. The target market isn't interested in creating cases, tying multiple views together in a single pane of glass, or the like, and for the intended use case, the system works great. Where it starts to fall apart a bit is with more advanced features. Not being able to use a desktop app is a major compromise in my opinion, and having to do all of the configuration on a mobile device is annoying, but not impossible. If you don't want to have a full-fledged NAS device in your home, but still want control over your data (or maybe want an easy way to backup your data for World Backup Day), and want to add a couple of cameras to keep an eye on your house and your pets, this is a great, cheap, and easy way to go, and I suspect more functionality will come over time. If Synology releases a desktop app or at least a way to configure cameras and view footage on a desktop browser, this would be a near-perfect solution for a general home user. This New N4S dashcam's supercapacitor design withstands extreme temperatures(-4℉ to 140℉), ensuring stable operation—safer and greener. Easy to Install & 360°versatile Rear Camera Set up effortlessly with our magnetic GPS mount, static cling film, and cable clips. Everything is tool‑free for a clean, wire‑hidden installation, and the mount stays stable on any drive. The rear camera rotates 360°, letting you monitor rear traffic or pivot it inward to keep an eye on cargo, luggage, or pets inside the vehicle. Versatile coverage whenever you need it. 24/7 Smart Parking Mode for Peace of Mind With 4 proprietary parking modes, the N4S 3-channel dashcam for cars lets you customize your protection. Motion detection triggers 10 seconds pre-event recording to capture full event. Collision detection auto-locks footage on impact/collision. Low bitrate/frame rate modes extend recording by reducing file size. Whatever the hour, your vehicle is always protected. 5GHz Wi-Fi & Support up to 1TB SD Card Access and download footage instantly with high‑speed 5GHz Wi-Fi. No need to remove the memory card or wait for transfers—critical clips are ready to view or share in seconds. This dash cam front and rear supports up to 1TB microSD cards (sold separately), giving you ample space for long trips or continuous loop recording. OTA firmware updates ensure your dashcam stays current with the latest features and improvements. So, again, aside from the marketing fluff mentioned above what do you actually get? • The concern of this article is not getting "hacked". No one is taking over my Google account and anyone that was is far away from self-hosting their passwords. It was about your big tech account of choice deciding to reduce features or getting out of the password manager business altogether. Bitwarden (or say Proton) is professional security company offering opensource solutions. They are going no where and one can easily download or export their passwords to another password manager service regardless. They again also offer self-hosted option. I doubt many people were sold on this solution based on the write up. The author had a number of warnings and caveats themselves. A local, self-managed solution is not for 99% of users.
