George Zimmerman has been found not guilty!

Recommended Posts

Unless he had the gun drawn and pointed at Trayvon it isn't justification for knocking someone to the ground and then repeatedly bashing their head into the concrete.

With the benefit of hindsight, it would have been exactly the right thing to do.

this similar to O.J. Simpson who found not guilty on the newspaper on October 3, 1995.

Ebay has collect of old newspaper about Simpon found not guilty in 1995:

I was like what?  I knew this similar to O.J. Simpson too!

Where was it ever established that Zimmerman was a racist?

The information is out there, from his history in neighbourhood watch to his treatment of co-workers, etc. You also have to consider that most people don't spend their free time reporting black suspects to the police. Do I have proof that he's a racist? No, just like you don't have proof that he isn't. But sometimes you've just got to call a spade a spade.

Most people don't spend their free time... Doing what?

Do you not understand what a neighborhood watch is? On top of that, it was the dispatcher that was interested in Martin's color, not Zimmerman.

1. spade A derogatory term for an African American, more commonly used in the post-Civil War era than today. "No you can't sit with me, you damn spade."

Good job!

Please ignore this post, after reading and thinking about it, I realized it served no purpose other than being lame and way off-topic.

You have deliberately taken my comment out of context.

That isn't relevant to this discussion. Zimmerman had a history of reporting black suspects to the police and had complaints made against him for his aggressive tactics, which directly correlates with the Trayvon Martin incident.

i wonder how many of those blacks got away with it?

In Detroit about 92% since the DPD's recent case closure rate is about 8%.

Their crime lab was closed for incompetence years ago, the PD response time averages 58 minutes, and the homicide rate is 10x the national average at >48 / 100,000 - about the same as Ivory Coast in W. Africa.

Might want to watch this video, it details Trayvon and Zimmerman.

I suggest you read this story from Reuters:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/25/us-usa-florida-shooting-zimmerman-idUSBRE83O18H20120425

The neighborhood that Zimmerman lived in had numerous break-ins that were committed by young black men.

Why do so many scream that he was profiling?  Should he have been looking for white women instead?

George Zimmerman has black roots. Is he racist against himself?

what bugs me isn't whether or not it was wrong for Zimmerman to profile.. it was "why is profiling wrong to begin with?"

The kid was just on his way home doin' Skittles. Why did it have to be tha most innocent playa on tha block, oh Lord?

He was no hater, had nuthin' but love for family and all dat.

Looks like hes holding a s&w sw9ve. Cheap gun with a crappy trigger.

All that history of reporting, yet no altercations or guns fired before.  Is there any evidence of people filing complaints against him for it?

Must be racist, and decided to pick Martin to be his first victim despite all the prior profiling.

Seriously though, if he had a vendetta against blacks, why did he wait until now to kill a black teenager, when he had all sorts of chances in the past?

Congratulations Mr. Zimmerman. This one didn't get away. I can accept the jury's decision from a legal standpoint but there are a lot of concerns raised by this verdict. This verdict seems to validate that a person can target another person, start a confrontation by following that second person that is harming no one and not committing any criminal activity at the time, get into a fight, pull a gun an shoot them, claim self-defense and that's that. Of course with better physical evidence or better eyewitness testimony than in this case it might not always be an easy proposition to claim self-defense, but the bar seems to be incredibly low now when on person can just walk away with minor injuries and the other person ends up dead.

I take it you have only watched ABC and NBC for coverage about this particular trial, because if you had watched the actual trial you would see that almost everything you just stated was incorrect and misinterpreted by the media. I wont debate this, but feel free to look at the trial evidence or other news outlets and you will see how wrong your statement truly is.

If he had a vendetta against blacks he wouldn't have given his house keys to a black woman, nor would he helped teach black kids, nor would he have started a business with a black man.

I don't buy it. The police officers told him not to follow the kid but yet he did and he killed him as a result. The kid was on his way home from the store carrying ice tea. I don't buy self defense for a minute.

Incorrect information once again, police officers never told him not to follow, a phone operator did. Phone operators are not the law, and cannot tell you what you can or cannot do. So many mis-informed people in this thread, you guys really need to find other news sources because ABC and NBC and the likes have truly messed this one up.

If he had a vendetta against blacks he wouldn't have given his house keys to a black woman, nor would he helped teach black kids, nor would he have started a business with a black man.

Not to mention that there was a black intern working on the defense team who made it clear if she felt he was racist, she wouldn't have stuck around.

I feel bad for her really.  Between the news media and people like Al Sharpton, she will be a pariah amongst the black community.  How is that right?

it's unfortunate not all black-on-black crimes are met with as much vigor and pleads of mob outrage as has been displayed by the usual suspects (Sharpton, etc) with this case.

There's a reason for that. With black-on-black crime, the race card can't be played.

If Trayvon had bounced Zimmermans head a few more times, a little harder, insetad of walking away and getting shot in the back... i wonder if he would have escaped jail...

of course not. that's murder, not self-defense

Exactly!

If the break-ins had been committed by white, Asian, or Hispanic teens, I would fully understand all of the accusations of racism against Zimmerman in this case.

Isn't the other guy of spanish descent (half peruvian)? Why are they selling it as regular 'merican white dude, it looks good on TV? :)

    • Anthropic accuses Alibaba of using 25,000 fake accounts to copy Claude's capabilities by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic has accused Alibaba of using nearly 25,000 fraudulent accounts to extract capabilities from Claude on a huge scale. According to a report from Reuters, Anthropic told US lawmakers that operators linked to Alibaba and the company’s Qwen AI team generated 28.8 million exchanges with Claude between April 22 and June 5, 2026. That is a lot of Claude conversations, but Anthropic says this was not ordinary chatbot use. The company believes the accounts were part of a coordinated effort to collect answers that could help train or improve rival AI systems. The alleged campaign reportedly focused on some of Claude’s most valuable skills, including software development, multi-step reasoning, and agentic tasks. In practical terms, that means getting an AI model to plan and complete work across several stages rather than simply answering a single question. This is called 'distillation,' where AI companies use outputs from a larger model to train a smaller and cheaper one. The smaller model learns to imitate useful parts of the more capable system without needing the same amount of computing power. The distillation process isn't automatically suspicious, but the problem comes when one company gathers another provider's outputs without permission and at an industrial scale. Also, this does not mean Alibaba obtained Claude’s source code, model weights, or original training data. Instead, Anthropic claims the accounts repeatedly asked Claude carefully designed questions and collected the answers. Those answers could then be used as training material for another model. Anthropic has made similar accusations against DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax earlier this year. As Neowin previously reported, Anthropic said those three companies collectively generated more than 16 million Claude exchanges through roughly 24,000 accounts. Anthropic says the new campaign produced almost twice as many exchanges in a matter of weeks. Anthropic reportedly told lawmakers that the campaign could help Chinese AI developers approach the capabilities of its Mythos Preview model. Mythos is focused on advanced cybersecurity work, including finding and exploiting complex software vulnerabilities. via Reuters | Photo via DepositPhotos.com

    • I don't think it was ever a big question. In fact, I don't think anyone ever asked about how clocks work on Mars.
    • I don't know what the price difference is between a 5GbE and a 10GbE part, but it seems that putting a 10GbE port in might be a bit more 'standard'.
