Man of Steel sequel to feature Batman (and others) (2016)

Every time I think of Ben Affleck, I think of Daredevil and the actor in cursi romantic movies.

The change.org petition is aimed at Warner Bros.; the White House petition asked the Obama administration to ?denounce the selection of Ben Affleck? and recast the role of Batman.

George Clooney is an incredibly talented actor, but he was crap as Batman.

Being a decent actor /= Batman material.

Exactly. Unlike Joker, where we saw the makeup,   and did not judge the character based of the previous roles...

here, we will have to see his as Bruce Wayne!

not going to work well IMO.

however, if this is final... i am looking forward to see what can he do. i hope to be wrong!

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the process began earlier this year when director Zack Snyder had finished working on Man of Steel with producer Christopher Nolan. Snyder and the studio already had ideas for a follow-up, and Snyder reached out to Affleck to check the star's interest.

It's unclear when these talks began. Multiple sources say the studio approached Josh Brolin, as well as other actors. Ryan Gosling was also a possibility, but the actor dislikes the idea of sequels.

But Affleck was curious, and initial talks focusing on story and character began. Once Affleck was satisfied, WME's Patrick Whitesell and Ziffren Brittenham's Sam Fischer began negotiating his role in the Superman sequel. Sources say that Affleck has been signed for multiple other movies. The talks were so secretive that many Warner execs and most WME agents remained unaware of their existence.

On one level, Affleck?s return to superheroes seems bewildering. The Oscar-winning co-writer of Good Will Hunting drew scorn after donning the red suit for Daredevil, and later agreed it wasn't his best work. After he'd recovered and turned in a bravura performance directing and starring in The Town, Fox offered him the chance to direct and star in a Daredevil reboot -- but Affleck turned it down.

More recently, Nolan offered Affleck the chance to direct Man of Steel. Affleck declined, seemingly because of a desire not to return to the world of capes -- despite being an avowed comic book fan.

Because since it?s considered a sequel to Man of Steel and not a Batman movie, any potential underperformance issues won't ultimately land on his shoulders.

The deal also potentially lines Affleck up to star in and direct Warner Bros.' answer to The Avengers: The eventual Justice League movie.

He should have stuck to his first idea and said no.

Superman. Batman. Detroit?

It?s looking like the still-unnamed ?Man of Steel? sequel will be filming in Detroit in 2014.

On Friday, a source with in-depth knowledge of Michigan?s film incentives and industry said a Warner Bros. project would be announced next week.

And that a masked hero would be involved.

Warner Bros. announced Thursday the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in the ?Man of Steel? sequel that?s expected to hit theaters in 2015.

Of course they could be jumping the gun - this could just as easily be Flash or some other DC character. One possibility is John Stewart, Earth's other Green Lantern who is from Detroit.

They do need to get to those characters introduced to the audience before the JL movie if it is all possible.

Don't get me wrong guys he a good actor and I like his series on pbs when I was young growing up.But I just don't think they made a good decision but like some said I have to keep a open mind but Ben Affleck does not look like a action hero.

He's even earth's first Lantern. I'm really hoping that they're going to use John Stewart as the Green Lantern instead of Hal Jordan. Could be interesting. And I'm betting that they're going to announce the Flash film.

So basically if he sucks big time it won't matter :/

I'm thinking they're going to go ala judge dredd, Bats won't remove his cowl during the movie.

Remember this though? The Internet's reaction to Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker

Not that I'm all positive about the casting though!

As I said over Facebook, it's the fact Ben Affleck has already been a Superhero and failed at it (even if it was the writing)

Twitter you mean :p But yeah, it's a bummer that the studios don't see it. Maybe they're trying to repeat what Nolan did casting-wise and just hope for the best.

Oh I knew I said it somewhere! I think I said it there as well to someone! but yeah for sure!

Today's local news leaks are that Detroit would replace Chicago as the setting of Gotham City. Chicago was used for Nolan's films.

Isn't Detroit bankrupt? I suppose it would bring visitors in

It's the city govt thats broke - the rest is starting to boom.

Detroit and the immediate area are a major convention site and draws millions of visitors a year, and its expanding - between $2.5 and $3.0 billion in major developments in progress or just starting. One just starting will be over 3 million sq/ft.

Loads of movie, music video and commercial production too, small and large. The area has 3-4 studios that can support major productions. Besides Transformers, Oz The Great And Powerful was shot here, and most of the F/X were also done at a local facility.

Back to Bats

It was also said that Affleck is already in the gym bulking up. Bruce/Batman was supposed to be 6' 2". At 6' 4" Affleck could get massive. Bale at 6' even was 230 lbs when he hit the set and Nolan told him to lose 40 lbs before the shoot. Being much taller Affleck could easily support 230-250 lbs.

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
