SUV Runs over biker in NYC

I think the actions taken here go far beyond what is acceptable for police work.

When you're undercover, what's acceptable as police work isn't and shouldn't be your primary concern, it'll get you dead, fast. especially in a biker gang environment.

I'm much more concerned about this:

As many as five other off-duty police officers may have been riding with the hundreds of motorcyclists who flooded Manhattan on Sept. 29 as part of an annual biker event called Hollywood Stuntz.

They should have stepped in and stopped this.

How ? they where in the ride, but only one of them appears to have been close to, aware of and part of the attack. and even then they still have their cover they have to protect. And chances are the different undercover cops are not aware of each other as well.

These 5 weren't undercover but just off duty. And 3 undercover cops?  With that many cops around this should have never happened.

And again, there was HUNDREDS, of bikers, these off duty cops where not part of or near this event. how could they prevent something they didn't know about ? and again, they probably didn't know about each other so even if one of them witnessed it what was he to do ? break up a biker gang of 50+ by himself ? even if all 5 of them was there together, knew of each other and worked together, that's an unlikely scenario.

Is the NYPost like the DailyMail?

Is the NYPost like the DailyMail?

If I understand the DailyMail correctly, which I believe I do based on the comments made over the years here, no, it is not like it at all.

It is a regular Newspaper. Some in the area will say it is garbage from a regular newspaper standpoint, but it is not a gossip newspaper, etc.

Funny to see how this is getting worldwide attention. A friend of mine actually posted the initial video that is getting all of the attention upwards of 2 days before it even hit the news here, and plenty of people had something to say about it on Facebook even then.

Here is the deal from the perspective of someone who lives approximately 30 miles from where this happened, and who still has friends and family who live in the area where it happened...

Apparently these "bikers," and I put that term in quotes as it does insult actual real, law abiding bikers, are in essence a gang. They drive like *******s all the time, have no respect for the laws of the road whatsoever, and are generally made up of criminals and convicts. Yes, it is a dangerous thing to group such a large group of people into one negative category, but there is a reason there were undercover cops with them. They conduct criminal activity, are looked at by law enforcement as a potential criminal organization (I have friends who are in law enforcement in the surrounding area in NJ), and should be viewed as such.

Bottom line. They had ZERO good intentions.

Detective Arrested in Biker Case

An undercover New York Police Department detective was arrested Tuesday for his alleged connection to the assault of a Credit Suisse vice president after the victim was chased by motorcyclists through Manhattan, law-enforcement officials said.

Det. Wojciech Braszczok, 32 years old, was charged by police with riot and criminal mischief. He was waiting to be arraigned in court Tuesday evening.

Mr. Braszczok was allegedly off-duty and among the bikers seen on a video pounding on a Range Rover containing victim Alexian Lien, 33, his wife, and his 2-year-old daughter, according to a law-enforcement official familiar with the investigation.

The detective can allegedly be seen on one video recording striking and breaking the SUV's hatchback window, contradicting what he previously told NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau investigators about his involvement in the altercation, said the official, who wasn't authorized to talk about the case and was speaking on the condition of anonymity.

IAB investigators want to add additional charges against Mr. Braszczok and prosecutors are trying to determine if the evidence was there to support the charges, the official said.

The video, which hasn't been made public, allegedly shows the detective breaking the window during the Sept. 29 incident, where Mr. Lien was dragged from the driver's seat and beaten, the official said.

The attack followed a vehicular chase along Manhattan's West Side, set off when Mr. Lien's vehicle struck one of several motorcyclists who had swarmed his Range Rover on the Henry Hudson Parkway.

Most of the chase was captured on a biker's helmet camera. That video is separate from the video allegedly depicting the detective.

Mr. Braszczok relieved his union-appointed attorney from the Detectives Endowment Association on Tuesday and hired lawyer John Arlia, union officials said. Mr. Arlia could not immediately be reached for comment.

Union President Michael Palladino said, "I'm going to withhold any comment at this time."

During an interview on Monday, union attorney Philip Karasyk said Mr. Braszczok told investigators that he didn't see the beating.

"He obviously misled the union and his attorneys," a person with knowledge of the investigation said.

Mr. Braszczok is a 10-year police veteran and has been a detective for five years. He recently began working in the intelligence division.

He was suspended without pay upon his arrest.

Four people have been charged in the chase and assault. Craig Wright, 29 years old, was arraigned on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to charges including gang assault.

NYPD detective faces charges after video shows he pounded on SUV (+video)

The off-duty detective initially told his superiors he was not involved in the motorcyclists' attack on the SUV, but a video showed him pounding the rear of the car before leaving the scene.

An off-duty undercover New York Police Department detective has turned himself in to face charges after video showed him pounding on an SUV at the center of a bloody road rage incident between the SUV driver and a band of motorcyclists on New York City?s Westside Highway.

    • Exactly, this is just the beginning. I hope that by that time, our inept politicians devise something like a Universal Basic Income, because unemployment and poverty rates will skyrocket otherwise. And believe me, robots that perform physical work aren't a matter of IF, but WHEN. No career is truly safe from AI/robots, it's just a matter of time.

Subtitle Edit 5.0.0 changelog: Subtitle Edit 5 is a major new release and a big step for the project. For the first time, Subtitle Edit runs natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux from a single, modern, cross-platform codebase. The builds are self-contained, so no separate .NET installation is required, and on macOS and Linux the needed media components (mpv/ffmpeg) are bundled in. Please read before upgrading: Subtitle Edit 5 is a new application, not just an update of Subtitle Edit 4. It has been rebuilt from the ground up to be cross-platform, so: It is not 100% the same app. The look, layout, and some workflows have changed. Some things are in different places, and a few behave differently than in SE4. Not every SE4 feature exists in SE5 yet. SE5 covers all the core editing, conversion, sync, video playback, OCR, and online services, but some of the more specialized SE4 tools are not available yet. Features will continue to be added. If you rely on a specific SE4 feature that is missing, please keep SE4 installed alongside SE5. The easiest way to run both side by side is to use the Portable versions of SE4 and SE5, which keep their settings separate and do not interfere with each other. Which version should I use? Subtitle Edit 5: recommended for most users on Windows 10 (22H2) or newer, macOS 12+, and Linux. Subtitle Edit 4: please continue to use SE4 if you are on an older Windows version (Windows 7/8), or on older / slower computers where SE5 may not run well. SE4 remains available and is the right choice in those cases. To run SE4 and SE5 at the same time, use the Portable versions - you can try SE5 while keeping SE4 as a fallback. • Google Pixel 11 series: Here's what to expect by Hamid Ganji Google Pixel 10 series In recent years, Google has successfully turned its Pixel devices into worthy contenders in the smartphone market. The search giant is now preparing to launch the Pixel 11 series in just a few months, and many Pixel fans are likely wondering what Google has in store for them this year. The next lineup of Google smartphones includes four devices: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. This year, we don’t expect Google to bring revolutionary upgrades to its handsets, and the Pixel 11 series is likely to receive modest hardware improvements alongside a slew of AI-powered features. Here are the rumored specifications of the Google Pixel 11 series ahead of its official debut: When will the new Pixel phones be unveiled? The last two generations of Google Pixel phones (Pixel 9 series and Pixel 10 series) were launched in August, unlike the previous three generations that debuted in October. With that in mind, we expect Google to unveil the Pixel 11 series sometime in August 2026. The exact launch date has yet to be confirmed. Google Pixel 11 CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines How much will the Pixel 11 series cost? Predicting the final price of upcoming smartphones has become increasingly difficult. As you may know, RAM and memory prices are rising sharply, leading to significant increases in the cost of consumer electronics. Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that price increases for some future Apple products are unavoidable, suggesting that the iPhone 18 series could become more expensive. Google has remained tight-lipped about any potential price increases for the Pixel 11 series. If the company manages to maintain last year’s pricing structure, here’s what the lineup could cost: Pixel 11: $799 Pixel 11 Pro: $999 Pixel 11 Pro XL: $1,199 Pixel 11 Pro Fold: $1,799 Given current market conditions, it may be difficult for Google to avoid raising prices unless it adopts cost-saving measures, such as equipping the base model with 8GB of RAM. Google Pixel 11 series anticipated specs: We expect the Google Pixel 11 series to debut with a new Tensor G6 processor as well as an upgraded camera system. The overall design, however, is expected to remain largely unchanged across the lineup. However, a patent filed by Google suggests the company is working on a removable battery for its smartphones, and we could see this feature make its way to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Given that nearly all smartphones today lack removable batteries, such a feature would be a welcome addition to future Pixel devices. That said, it may not arrive with this year’s lineup after all, and the final decision is yet to be made by Google. The Pixel 11 series could also face an uphill battle in the market. In the Android segment, Samsung is performing well with the Galaxy S26 series, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup is also expected to launch next month. On the other hand, Apple is preparing to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September alongside its first foldable iPhone.
