Here is something that nobody has thought about, and that is, why were the bikers mad at the car to begging with?  I live near NYC and most of the times, bikers (including i, although a HD) want to just go by.  When driving my car, i just slow down, and keep my lane, since i know moving to ANY lane could cause a crash.

 

I dont condone the actions of the bikers, however, around NY and CT there are plenty of these high end cars like the one on the video, who behave like aholes, who think they own the streets as well, who simply dont wait on a stop and who feel entitled because they have money.  Case in point, i was part of a 9-11 ride in CT, and mind you, this one is an official ride, with police escorts, firetrucks, etc, and half way through the ride, i was almost ran over by someone on a mercedes suv, because they couldnt wait for the ride to go by, they simply pushed their way and rode about a mile, while were shouting to the driver that they had to get the hell out!!!   a cop on a cuiser stoped the driver finally.

 

So, see, the driver even with his family on it, could have angered the bikers well before the video started, and it could be why the biker breaks hard in front of him...like i said before, some high end luxury car owners around here feel entitled and drive like they too own the roads.

 

So, i dont feel bad for either group, since either one could have shown an ounce of patience or self-control and this whole mess could have been avoided.

 

(bah, screw it, i am with the bikers, someone crashes my bike, and i too would beat the crap of that driver, like the awhole mercedes that almost hit me, i soo wanted to beat the crap out of that guy).

If the bikers wanted to make a case for themselves, how come their original reason (if there was one) for screwing the the driver hasn't surfaced?  Surely they were investigated?

Exactly, the person who captured everything on video started and stopped the video and then uploaded only what they wanted you to see.

I just re-watched the video and it looks like after the break check a guy was trying to get into the SUV so he speed off.  I was leaning towards agreeing with the bikers even though break checking is idiotic, but now it looks like fleeing was the best option even with people in the way as I don't think an apology would have helped.

 If you brake checking other drivers like one in the video, i hope your ass will get run over ( preferably by a truck) and then a good beat down because of stupidity. If that idiot on motorcycle drove like a normal average person, none of this would happen. I've see more than once motorcycles think they own a road by driving right on a yellow lane or behaving like idiots all over the road, just want to run an idiots like that over. But if you driving like a normal person and some idiot in a car think 'I'm bigger than you, I own a road" and then tries to hit, then I'm with you.

 

Few individuals in that group were asking to get run over.

Why would you want a vehicle where the crumple zone is your face? :p

Fuel efficient, agile, and really a joy to ride on a clear day on back roads, curvy mountain roads, etc. Not so much on motorways, city blocks, or busy highways though, which was another reason I sold mine after moving to my current location.

 

I know someone who bought a cheap bike purely because he can't afford car payments or paying lots for fuel. There are lots of reasons people choose to own a bike. Besides, I am a much better driver now for having owned one. I'm proactive, scan the road more and plan for any possible scenario, and more watchful. I'll take a biker any day over a Valium-ed up soccer mom in a massive SUV, fumbling with her phone and yelling at kids in the back, not paying attention to the road or any of her surroundings.

Misleading title. The bikers were clearly aggressive and posed a threat to the driver on numerous occasions. Obviously I wouldn't condone a driver running over bikers in normal circumstances but it's different when there is a clear threat to their safety, especially at the 5 minute mark. Those bikers should be in jail.

I suspect that something happened before that start of that video to cause the bikers to 'bait' the Range Rover driver. But the biker who was hit at the 0:50 mark was being a dick, shortly followed by some very intimidating actions by the other bikers that almost certainly meant the driver was in fear for his own and his families safety. Should he have run them over? No. But the bikers shouldn't have put themselves in a situation that caused the driver to act like that. Take his license plate and call the cops.

Another reason to be armed in the United States of America, if those bikers attacked my vehicle like that, I would've fired three warning shots, if they continued to attack my vehicle, I would've fired on them in a non-lethal manner.

No, shooting people is NOT a reasonable response. The SUV driver was able to safely get away by driving at the bikers so there was no need for guns, which would have certainly made the situation worse.

It's irrelevant. That sort of behaviour is unacceptable, especially trying to get into the vehicle - that could have only been to attack the driver. They were thugs. Simple as.

Well, it goes both ways.. Bikers can be drunk from a biker bar or coked up from hanging out with his friends.. Maybe even the biker popped a valium..

The video doesn't show the beat down at the end, so no he didn't safely (can we even use the word safely anywhere in this thread) get away.

 

Imagine if they had gone after the wife and child.  One of them was trying to break the back window, and the child would have been sitting in a rear seat.

 

So justification is certainly in the eye of the beholder there.

Fair enough, though I still oppose arming drivers. Road rage is bad enough as it is without adding firearms to the mix.

 

The police need to take strong action against the bikers to send a message that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable.

I don't agree to arm drivers either.  People are too stupid with their road rage crap.

 

A lot of this could be resolved if police action wasn't so lethargic.  You never see them when you need it, and they never come in time when you call them.

 

A few years ago, there was a robbery here.  The woman lived upstairs and saw it on camera. She called the police while they were still there and the alarm was going off below.  They were going upstairs to get into her apartment.  Luckily, she was able to scare them off by triggering another alarm.

 

The police showed up 3 hours later.

 

Is there any wonder why some people don't feel safe without a firearm?

Sure, but there's a massive difference here. A biker driving dangerously is really only a danger to himself. If he hits another car, the car's going to get a bit damaged at most--the biker could die. Someone in a large vehicle is much more of a threat to everyone/everything around them.

 

Obviously a large gang here is a bit different--a million ants can take down an elephant. But you know, they were on an annual ride, a big event. They knew more attention than usual would be on them, that of police included. I doubt they'd be acting rowdy and aggressive entirely unprovoked. I can't help but wonder if the SUV driver got annoyed because the ride had temporarily blocked up an intersection or stretch of road somewhere before this. I just get the feeling the "beginning" we see wasn't the true beginning of the chain of events.

Well, were that the case, that they were provoked, I think it would have made a case in their favor to show that.

 

They didn't which causes suspicion in itself.

 

An annual ride doesn't remove the possibilities of d-bags joining in.

I have to disagree here. A biker (drugs or not), does something reckless, and almost hits a car and said car swerves over, hits another car head on.. I have seen many bikers down here do something reckless, and other drivers freak out and crash. While yes, the biker is less safe than someone in a vehicle, they can cause harm just as easily.

 

My main point was, the comment about the soccer mom on valium. There are bikers drugged up and drinking driving just as the mom on valium.  It seemed like you rather deal with a biker than a mom on valium, which myself would too. But what about a coked up biker and a mom not on valium?

      Hands-on with BOOX Tappy: cute little reading accessory by Taras Buria Page turners are quite popular accessories for e-readers, as they enable a hands-free reading experience, which is particularly useful with large readers featuring 10-inch or larger displays. The BOOX Tappy is a new accessory that was introduced earlier this year, and we took this cute-looking thingy for a spin. The Tappy comes in a small box, with two additional buttons and a user manual. The device is made of glossy green plastic and resembles old appliances from the nuclear age. Material quality is great, and each part feels quite premium. Plastic is high-quality, the switch is nice to flick, and the buttons are not rattly. At the bottom, four rubberized feet prevent slipping when used on a desk. Unfortunately, there are no color options, and the Tappy is only available in green. It looks good, but I wish there were other options as well. There are two removable buttons, an on/off switch, and an LED indicator that displays connection mode, charging status, and more. The buttons resemble those of an old typewriter, with quite a long travel distance and a pleasant clack. In the box, you have four buttons with different icons: heart, coffee, O, and X. You can easily swap buttons by simply pulling them upwards. Tip: buttons come with plastic covers, but they are quite tricky to remove. It is hard to call the Tappy the most ergonomic remote control, but after fiddling with it for a few hours, I managed to find a comfortable hand position. Attaching a lanyard to it can make it more comfortable in use without the fear of dropping it, but unfortunately, the Tappy does not come with one. The Tappy connects via Bluetooth 5.2, and it works in three modes, which you can toggle by pressing and holding both buttons for about five seconds: Reading Mode Multimedia Mode Browsing Mode Next / Previous page Next / Previous Track Up / Down scroll If you pair the Tappy with a BOOX device (I tested it with the BOOX Go 10.5 Gen 2 Lumi), you will get small pop-ups indicating the current mode. Plus, you can customize what each button does when pressed one time, two times, or held for a few seconds. The list of available actions and features you can use is massive, and I like that BOOX lets you map stuff like brightness adjustment, app launching, screenshot-taking, screen rotating, navigation, and more. Note, however, that while you can use the Tappy with other readers, its customization is only available on BOOX devices running firmware version 4.2 and newer. I could not connect the Tappy to my computer (Windows 11 claims a driver error when I try), but it worked with the DuRoBo Krono that I recently reviewed. My Kindle Paperwhite refused to work with the Tappy, though, just like my iPhone. The Tappy uses a non-removable Li-Ion battery, which can be recharged with a Type-C cable. BOOX rates the remote for "weeks of use," and I can say that it indeed has very good battery life. While there are no battery indicators on the remote, you can see the current level in the status bar or in Input settings in the BOOX firmware. After a few days of active use, mine still shows about 95%. Overall, the Tappy left a nice impression. It is well-made, and the integration with BOOX devices is great. I also like that BOOX decided to have some fun with its design and swappable buttons. I cannot say I am a fan of its odd shape, though. Still, I managed to find a way to use it comfortably. And when not in use, it just looks neat sitting on the table doing nothing or serving you as a small clacky fidget.
