"Threshold" to be Called Windows 9, Ship in April 2015

Linux isn't an OS, it's a kernel.

GNU/Linux however is the future of computing, you just need to stop being resistant to change.

GNU/Linux - future of computing since 1991. It will be taking over any day now.

The irony in this post is hilarious.

If you find GNU/Linux difficult in any way, you're doing it wrong.

I don't find it difficult, just stupid waste of time.

You're just too resistant to change to adapt to the factually superior OS.

Enjoying your minority share phone OS by the way? :)

In my opinion so is metro.

Factually superior

I thought it wasn't an OS?

If you had bothered to read the quoted post, you'll see he said "GNU/Linux" - which is indeed an OS. (Being a combination of the GNU userspace and the Linux kernel)

Good job there champ.

So when you don't have facts to back up, you come back with that? :)

I am not resistant to change, I am resistant to waste of time. If Linux was a superior OS, it would show up in market share.

Yes, I enjoy my phone OS - its minority share is Microsoft's problem, not mine.

On the flip side, 3 years on, Windows Phone has larger usage+market share than 25 something years of Linux in the consumer market.

So you agree Windows 8 is inferior to Windows 7 then? Brilliant, me too. ;)

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion but please carry on. Your brilliance may be "factually superior" than mine.

"If Linux was a superior OS, it would show up in market share"

Come on now, you can do better than this.

Time frame, how does it work.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
