To be fair, if they could work with the circuits and get prices down on ticket it would be a start.

The ticket prices for the China GP vs the British are day and night, and the BGP seems to be getting more and more expensive every year.

I think a lot of the problem here stems from the fact that circuits have to pay to host the GP.  They then have to make sure they recoup that cost.

Yep, I know Silverstone had to invest a lot of money into the track in order to keep it too so they seem to have been hit twice - spend money you don't have or stop earning from us as well as paying us for the benefit!

The Caterham team has new owners:

CATERHAM F1 TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Leafield Technical Centre, UK - 2nd July 2014

Caterham F1 Team is pleased to confirm that Tony Fernandes and his partners have sold the team to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors, advised by former F1 Team Principal Colin Kolles.

Under the terms of the sale, the team will continue to race as Caterham F1 Team and will remain based at Leafield for the foreseeable future.

The new ownership takes charge with immediate effect. Former Dutch F1 driver, Christijan Albers, assisted by Manfredi Ravetto, will take over the day-to-day running of the team, reporting directly to the board and replacing Cyril Abiteboul who will leave the team to pursue new challenges.

Christijan Albers:"We are aware of the huge challenge ahead of us given the fight at the bottom end of the Championship and our target now is to aim for tenth place in the 2014 Championship. We are very committed to the future of the team and we will ensure that the team has the necessary resources to develop and grow and achieve everything it is capable of.?

Was just watching the team principles press conference and heard this question...

Q: (Mike Doodson - GPweek) If there are to be any significant savings in F1 budgets the area in which it would seem logical to a dimwit like me to make them would be aerodynamics which contributes nothing to road car design and has no interest - or very little - to the spectator. What would your response be if someone were to suggest the introduction of spec-wings and aerodynamics generally?

It was mainly directed at Newey of all people. They were very polite with their responses to such an asinine question.

Found a copy on YouTube for those interested. http://youtu.be/plL_y0F6xh4?t=14m42s Don't know how long it will stay up before FOM finds it.

good race by Lewis helped by the fact Nico's gearbox went crunch.

Kimmi's last Silverstone race went with a bang rather than a splutter ;)

Man of the race: draw between Alonso keeping Vettel at bay for so long and Bottas for storming to 2nd place

Reject of the Race: Chiltern entering the pits under a red flag - schoolboy mistake

Maybe I'm biased but Alonso is man of the race for me. To keep Vettel behind him for that long with what? 15 lap older tires and massively faster car? You saw how easy Vettel pulled away once he got through. Also, having to do a a 5 second stop and go (I never actually got to see him do the stop and go as I got hungry and had to leave to go cook something).

Absolutely, great job by Alonso, awesome race craft! Poor form by Vettel for looking like a whiney bitch. Shut up and race, that's your job, not to be given spots.

Honorable mention to Ricciardo for making the tyres last 37 laps and still placing on podium, amazing!

I was actually a little surprised to see that Seb got to keep his overtake, since he dipped all 4 wheels over the white line on the next corner due to the overspeed he had. I know drivers have been doing that there all weekend, and I can only assume that the stewards let it slide because of that (and I know they're trying to take a lesser role and all), but I personally think that if you overtake someone then can't make the next corner because of your overtake, that should be a stonewall "give it back", no matter the circumstances.

Both Alonso and Vettel were pushing their luck but in the end were allowed to race and that was the right decision. Penalising either driver wouldn't have been good for the sport. What was annoying was the way Vettel kept complaining about it while doing similar things himself. Vettel has been pretty petulant this season.

A shame that Rosberg had mechanical problems. It would have been way more exciting if Lewis actually had to race him.

Agreed. However I'm not so sure Hamilton would've cruised up to the back of Rosberg. I reckon the .9 of a second he made after his outlap on the harder tyres was the beginning of Rosberg's gearbox troubles. Still am pleased with the result.

rosberg told after the race that he had problems with the gearbox very early on and would have happily settled for 2nd place and taken the points. shame he had to retire, now the championship is wide open again and so is lewis mouth claiming nico is not "german". :|

there is a very arrogant and irritating side on lewis hamilton. it backfired last time, and maybe it will this time as well?

would that guy, who is a brilliant racer, just focus on racing, he would have won the title in 2007, 2010 and 2012 as well.

The strongest whisper in the paddock is that Fernando Alonso is in deep discussions with McLaren about a return to the Woking team.

You have to keep in mind, a reported didn't just walk up to him and he started talking about Rosbergs heritage. He will have been asked some very specific questions that led to that. Wether he should have said it still is another thing but I do find it funny that someone who would race under a Monaco flag when Karting has suddenly decided that he should be racing under a German flag.

I would have loved to see them race, too many times has it been Rosberg attacking Hamilton and If I remember correctly not managing to get in front and stay there. Would have been very telling to see if Hamilton could have made a pass stick if he could have caught up. However having it back down to a 4 point gap is pretty good as it puts the pressure back on to Rosberg, especially for his "home" race :p

now you try to blame journalists for hamis answers? didnt think it would go that far

the guy has a brain but hardly ever uses it, thats the thing i have with him ...

nico, as many other drivers, name monaco as their "home" gp, because they live their for tax reasons. massa did too. still when entering the last race in interlagos, this is his home-gp and he will have no issues claiming so or will you critisize him as well?

last but not least, nico has double-citizenship. i am always on the opinion, that you should be allowed to chose your own home-state, not being condamned to have the one you were born to, but others probably think otherwise.

i find it weird that a formula one driver, who is racing all over the world, even in most exotic countries, is so obsessed about others not being a "real" german, or whatever...  what does this say about the state of mind?

but hami also felt offended once and thought it was because he was black, another time he posted telemetry data on twitter. i know what happens to me if i posted internals of my employer on twitter or facebook ...

No, not blame them. I'm just saying (and especially with him) the Media will have asked him some questions to get an answer like this.  Hamilton should still no better then to come out with crap like this, but the man speaks his heart, sometimes far too much, so this was an honest answer. I understand the examples, Nico and Massa etc... but the biggest thing here is that Nico used to race in his earlier days under the Monaco flag, why has he changed? This is the element I would focus on. Now it could be that the FIA state it has to be the country you were born in rather than where you grew up etc and that makes sense.

I think this pretty much says it all;

Hamilton joked with the British press that Rosberg, who was born in Wiesbaden and races under the German flag, is not a true German because he grew up in Monaco. But Rosberg said the jibe has been blown out of proportion and, in any case, did not bother him.

"I was actually there at the stage when he said that, and it was actually the person interviewing who did those questions. Lewis didn't really answer much to them. Anyway, what do you want me to say? Everybody can judge however they want.

    • Microsoft making much needed change to Windows 11, 10 Patch Tuesday security updates by Sayan Sen Recently, Microsoft delivered its latest Defender patches for Windows 11 ISOs. These definitions are released from time to time alongside the general security updates available during Patch Tuesday. Speaking of Defender, the company has now announced another important change that affects how security updates are delivered to enterprise devices running Windows. According to a recent announcement, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's endpoint detection and response (EDR) updates will no longer be bundled with the monthly Windows security updates or Patch Tuesdays. Instead the company is shifting delivery of these updates to Microsoft Update, bringing EDR servicing in line with several other Microsoft Defender components. If you recall, Microsoft last year moved PowerShell updates to Microsoft Update (MU) as well since it provides automatic updates for Microsoft products and services. Thus the move is intended to allow Microsoft to deliver EDR improvements and security enhancements independently of the OS's regular monthly update cycle; this should enable faster deployment of protection updates without requiring organizations to wait for the next Patch release. For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's EDR capabilities are designed to help organizations detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats across managed devices. Keeping these components updated is critical for maintaining protection against evolving attack techniques. The rollout has already began for Windows 10 devices in late May 2026 (last month) and Microsoft says it will gradually expand support to Windows 11 and the remaining supported Windows versions over the coming months. The company expects deployment across Windows 10 and Windows 11 to be completed by fall 2026 or around Q3 of this year. Once the transition is complete, EDR updates will be delivered through Microsoft Update using KB5005292, provided the required prerequisite updates have already been installed. Microsoft is also introducing a new Defender Update Service as part of the change. Following installation of the first update, devices will automatically create a new directory located at %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Microsoft Defender\Defender Update. Microsoft notes that restarts may occasionally be necessary in case of "rare" failure scenarios. For most organizations, the tech giant says no action will be required as long as Microsoft Update is already permitted within their update management strategy. Admins who rely on manually deployed update packages, however, will need to adjust their processes to ensure the new Defender update package is included. Microsoft also recommends reviewing internal documentation and notifying helpdesk and security operations teams about the updated delivery mechanism to avoid confusion during the transition. As a prerequisite, the tech giant notes that systems must be running Sense version 10.8798.25857.1000 or later and have one of the following Windows updates (or later) installed: Win11 24H2 KB5062660 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win11 23H2 KB5062663 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win11 22H2 KB5062663 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win10 22H2 KB5062649 (2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview) Win10 1809 KB5063877 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2019 KB5063877 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2022 KB5063880 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) Server 2025 KB5063878 (2025-08 Cumulative Update) As always, organizations should verify that their update policies align with the new servicing approach before the broader rollout reaches all supported Windows platforms later this year. In case of major problems, the EDR update can be rolled back to the inbox version stored in %ProgramFiles%\\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) using: MpCmdRun.exe -RevertMde -Product Edr -ToVersion Inbox For those who have access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center portal, you can view the message here under ID MC1381119.
    • My problem with these smart scopes is that IMO they're not really an entrance into astronomy, they're an entrance to looking at pretty(ish) pictures that you take by essentially pressing a button and letting the scope do the work. I still maintain that getting some binoculars or a solid dedicated telescope (which doesn't have to mean expensive) and actually spending time learning the night sky and using a telescope is a much better way to actually learn. But, granted, the learning curve is a bit steeper (as it tends to be).
    • I never played Crazy Taxi before, but this looks like a fun game!
    • The perception of Microsoft Edge is unfortunate as it's a world class browser. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's the best browser I've ever used with its feature set, speed, reliability and advanced security. Running the extension Ublock Origin is a must though to deal with advertising and trackers.
