W10 (phone) will be great.

what are you expexting to see during WP10mobile support cycle??

 

 

Universal Apps.
Interactive live tiles: something that hasn't been talk about recently because it came out early last year & it was supposed to be WP8.2.
MS just released a Java toolkit for W10

I honestly don't think we need a separate thread for phones, since everything is just "Windows 10", that would be until the consumer preview is out.

 

 

W10 (phone) will be great.

Lumia software recovery tool updated to support windows 10 tech preview

Since I haven't use it so far: does restoring carrier software to country variant (I'm not sure if that how they call the clean OS) removes branding? And is there a way to make backup image of OS befor any procedure?

On off contract phones it restores to Last stable image of windowsmobile OS by microsoft with Firmwares(country variant).

Not sure about Carrier Software

Now it will be able to roll back WM10 preview too with the new UPDATE.

It downloads latest official release for your phone including any carrier branding+bloat. You don't really need to backup the OS.

It downloads latest official release for your phone including any carrier branding+bloat. You don't really need to backup the OS.

 

 

Thanks for the info.

But Just a point the original WPmobile OS it dowloads is approx 1.5gb (varies with version)

Kind of related, kind of unrelated at the same time - when Windows Phone 10 (or what ever they're going to name it because I've seen 'Windows Mobile 10' thrown around as well) will there be the ability to do a recovery using that tool and it downloads the Windows Phone 10 image for the phone?

It will be able to dowload stable build IMO.

And windows phone 10 needs to be installed over it with INSIDER APP.

Cool - I'm holding off from considering a Windows Phone until Microsoft releases a flag ship update preferably with an sdcard slot in it.

well they said they will launch a Flagship device with w10mobile (when RTM).

SDcard might be there.

not windows mobile 10, but Windows 10 Mobile. as in Windows 10 for mobile devices, phones and tablets.

Hopefully - something like a 940 or a 1030 would be great but they really do need to get their music app sorted given that it is one of the main things I use my phone for next to web browsing (outside of phoning and text messaging).

Nokia Windowsphones have great audio quality but app need a bit of love.

While Microsoft's mobile strategy is still coming together and after many years of trying to court developers has resulted in little success, the company is hoping its universal apps will finally bring quality content to its stores.

As rumored, not every device will be able to run the Windows Phone 10 technical preview which will surely disappoint quite a few users who wanted to try out the pre-release OS. The following devices are eligible for this round of the technical preview for Windows 10 for Phones:

As with any preview software, take caution before you install this OS on your phone. Seeing as it is pre-release, there are likely bugs that could impact your daily use; if you are on the fence about installing the OS, it is best to wait until others comment on if the build is stable before proceeding.

      I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.

      Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year.The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped.       Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA
