If you actually want to "help" how about addressing the underlying issues rather than throwing money towards a problem, money that would actually be saved if the underlying issues were resolved.

But, you know, pointing out those issues or anything related is frowned upon, right?

Yes, let's all lecture each other about things we all know.

Regardless of what the definition says....regardless of race. This was terrorism. Now you are gonna get droves of people trying the whole gun control lobbying again. But if you listen to the videos. This was automatic gunfire from guns that aren't easily obtainable, require special permits and have to be manufactured before on or before May 19, 1986. This isn't your AR-15 which are semi-automatic and can be bought at Cabela's or your local gun store. Hilary has already made this political.

@HillaryClinton The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.  Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.

""We have no idea what his belief system was," Sheriff Lombardo added.
The sheriff was asked if there was any evidence the attack was related to terrorism.
"No, not at this point," he replied."

So-called Islamic State later claimed to be behind the attack, saying that Paddock had converted to Islam some months ago.
But the group provided no evidence for this and has made unsubstantiated claims in the past.
Senior US officials discounted the group's statement.

Why wasn't all of the crowd armed? They could have returned a rain of hellfire back that could have left Mandalay Bay Casino in rumble within minutes.

That'd be an awful scenario. Disregarding alcohol as @TPreston mentioned, you can't return fire if other people start firing. You won't know who to shoot and will likely injure/kill someone.

Why, if the shooter has an English name, is this not described as a terrorist attack?

There has to be a motive. What is he against? So far, all we have is an apolitical white guy shoots white people. It's only been how many hours now? Give it time.

ter·ror·ism - the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

People are acting like calling him a terrorist is some sort of degradation to his name. It's not. Being a mass murderer or a terrorist means you are still a piece of shite. One is politically motivated, the other just means you're completely insane. Personally, I find the latter to be much more terrifying. To learn someone believes in something so strongly, they resort to murder is terrible. To learn someone decides to mass murder people just because? Like... what do you even do with that?

Trumps speech was good, nothing real political which is not needed right now, didn't call this an act of terror.

My only takeaway is that this was definitely teleprompter Trump not the rambling Trump we usually see.

You could tell. The NFL was not mentioned.

At least 58 dead and over 500 injured. This just keeps getting worse :( Regardless of the motive behind this, we as human race are in a dark place.

I listen to some of the cell phone video, and it certainly sounded like full-automatic weapons fire.

Large magazines as well, easily exceeded 30 rounds per mag, at the rate of sustained fire from what I heard in those videos.

Dunno - may have been a drum magazine with 50+ rounds.

The problem is it doesn't exactly take a genius to turn some sheet metal and flat spring blanks into a  hellaciously large magazine.

It's also fairly trivial to convert a non automatic into a full automatic, or even to build from scratch a rudimentary SMG.

Now Clinton, probably because she has not been in the spotlight to much lately, made a statement pretty much saying the deaths would be higher if silencers were legal.   *face palm*

True enough, a part of me was curious as to the weapon being used, until I further found out that there were as many as 10 weapons (possibly more, just in case)

I actually, found myself wondering if he was using a Thomson, as I couldn't recall a modern drum based, fully auto rifle with that rate of fire.

Admittedly, my knowledge of firearms is limited to various magazines, news, and so on. I ruled out the Colt M16 as the cycle rate was too low, (sourcing old vietman newsreels from memory) and smg's (again, wrong fire rate) would be less effective at that range, I believe, and fully acknowledge that I may be wrong here.

Again, chances are I am wrong here, but I do believe silencers aren't effective on fully automatic weapons, as they cannot suppress the sheer amount of escaping gases, at that rate of fire.

It said "at least 2 people dead" when I went to sleep and I woke up to see "at least 50 people dead".

You are correct.  Just shows how much Hillary knows...not very much.

Well, with a shooter that far away, she's right. Presuming they weren't spraying away with a full automatic.

I find it incredible, the opinion that her and people like her are just out to spoil people's "fun" pastime when what they're actually trying to do is stop tragedies like this.

While it may be true, it's a poor time to make that comment.  It didn't really make sense to play the speculation game.  Anyone could easily say that the death toll would be higher if the assailants have grenades, helicopters and hellfire missiles, but it would be extremely poor taste as a political figure to bring that up when people are dead and dying.

Been saying this since his appearance in Saudi Arabia. Whoever his speechwriters are, they do great work. It's just when he goes off the cuff or on Twitter...
