This can't be serious? Absolutely correct, I was about to say it wouldn't sound out of place in the next Avengers movie, then I googled Brian Tyler...

Avengers Age of Ultron, Iron man 3, Thor The Dark World - yep, absolutely generic superhero music.

RIP - I can still hear you saying, You would never break the chain :(

Relax, that'll still be around in Channel 4's coverage, and likewise, Sky will still use "Just Drive". That new theme's replacing the start of the FIA's coverage...

...although with the new theme being a full-length one, they might be going the Formula E route this season and having it play during the grid walk, maybe even during the highlights, too.

Don't play that!!!

Don't judge me but that is the music that tells me I need to go to the toilet, it's sort of a habit now and whilst I know it has no effect on the race I have to do it otherwise I'm dooming Hamilton to a bad race. Now I'm sat at work wanting to go to the toilet but not needing it!

Melbourne gets extra DRS zone for F1 season opener

Traditionally, tracks have one or two DRS zones, but in a bid to further increase overtaking at a track where it is traditionally difficult, F1's governing body the FIA has created a third for the first time at Albert Park.

The new zone begins on the exit of the quick Turn 12, with the aim of helping drivers carry speed on the run down to the tight Turn 13 right-hander.

Couldn't find an F1 timing sheet for FP2 so had to screenshot from the F1 website.

A lot closer in FP2, Verstappen's long stints looked equal to Hamiltons but we don't know fuel situation etc. As I understand it Ferrari never ran Hyper Soft so there's still some time in the bag for them and finally, weather is forecast for Rain tomorrow so really right now, we know nothing.

Driver of the Race: Pierre Gasly - Hell of a drive getting that Toro Rosso to finish 4th.

Reject of the Race: Whoever hit the green light prematurely on Raikkonen's pitstop and ended up breaking that poor Ferrari mechanic's leg.

Impressive drive from Vettel to maintain and preserve his soft tyres. Bottas really should have been able to put Vettel under more pressure. He'll be scratching his head, that's for sure. Hamilton was definitely the loser when it came down to overtaking backmarkers. 2 seconds from Bottas to 6 seconds whilst being on fresher tyres. I thought for sure Bottas would let Hamilton pass to try overtake Vettel as he was lapping much quicker at the time before the backmarkers.

Another poor pitstop and unsafe release from Ferrari concerning Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen must be fuming. He seems to be able to match Vettel's pace so far this season.

Driver of the day for me was Gasly. He was well composed throughout the race. I imagine Gasly would have been under a lot of pressure. Amazing drive.

Lots of respect to Vettel for this one, I was saying after it was clear they were gonna go to the end that there was no way he would make it to the end on those tyres, same old story where they push too far and the tyres blow on them but not only did he make them last he was really competitive too.

A massive amount of respect from him for this defence of Lewis too, glad someone called out the BS on trying to create drama where there isn't any.

Ferrari and Mercedes will receive a much smaller share of F1’s prize money from 2021 under new plans for how the near-$1 billion fund will be shared out.

Formula One Management’s commercial rights holder Liberty Media presented its proposed changes to teams in Bahrain. RaceFans has learned from sources how it intends to cut top teams’ payments and hand more money to F1’s smaller outfits such as Williams and Force India.

Ferrari’s unique Long Standing Team payment, which by itself is worth more than some teams’ entire prize revenues, will be scrapped. The payment, worth $68 million last year, will be replaced by a $40 million payment which must be taken as company profits, RaceFans understands.

The Constructors’ Championship Bonuses and other special payments to teams will not continue under Liberty’s plan. Instead the prize fund will be more closely linked to where each team finishes in the constructors’ championship.

The fund will continue to be split equally into two columns, the first of which will be shared equally between the teams, as before. The second will distribute payments based on their constructors’ championship finishing positions. While the payment to the first-placed team will fall from 19% to 14%, the last-placed team will continue to receive 6%, and the incremental gaps between them are evenly spaced.

Based on the details of Liberty Media’s F1 prize money plan for 2021, RaceFans has modelled how much money each team could receive under the new structure.

For ease of comparison we have used the 2017 constructors’ championship finishing positions for each team and assumed a total prize fund of $1 billion. All figures are $m.

NB. Under the 2021 prize money structure Ferrari would receive an additional $40m which must be written to group profits. Each engine manufacturer would also receive an additional $10m. These are not reflected in the tables and graph above.

    • Gears of War: E-Day brings 12-player co-op, smoother traversal mechanics, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Right as the Xbox Games Showcase came to an end today, The Gears of War developer The Coalition took over to show off its next project: E-Day. This prequel project was announced back in 2024, but now we have a lot more details about its campaign, new gameplay mechanics, and even a release date. The studio says this is the first time it has managed to get the time to build the entire game in a new engine, as it had worked non-stop on new titles for years while porting classic code and assets. With Unreal Engine 5 now powering Gears of War: E-Day, The Coalition says it started completely anew, with all assets, animations, environments, and others being built from scratch. The campaign will take place across three days in the city of Kalona. The story will follow the events through the eyes of Bravo Squad. This is made up of the returning classic duo Marcus and Dom, as well as the new characters Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes. Watch the trailer below to see Marcus in action without his iconic armor and gear, just as the Locust invasion kicks off. The story will draw on classic Gears novels like Aspho Fields as well, with the studio even collaborating with author Karen Traviss. "That continuity is what makes the destruction land," says the studio. "In E-Day, you watch a living city torn apart—homes still lit, meals half-finished—while people abandon their cars and run for cover. Small details—a child’s toy, an uneaten dinner—make the loss real as everyday places collapse under the Locust assault." The movement system is getting a big overhaul here. Players will be able to slide while running, jump across gaps, climb head-height covers, and even crawl on the ground to avoid fire from enemies. As for the returning horde mode, The Coalition teased a new 12-player PvE mode. This will involve three squads of Gears going up against the incoming Locusts in larger city maps than usual. The studio says that it is going to reimagine the classic formula just as co-op games are going through a resurgence. Multiplayer was touched on today too, where Versus is coming back touting four versus four Gears PVP action set across Kalona maps. More details about multiplayer will be revealed later. Open beta weekends are kicking off this August for fans wanting to jump in early too. Gears of War: E-Day is releasing on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6 with pre-orders available now. It will also be a part of Xbox Game Pass on day one. Microsoft has confirmed this as an Xbox platform exclusive, as there are no plans to bring it to PlayStation or Switch.
    • Microsoft announces the return of Xbox exclusives with Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft had plenty of announcements to make today at the Xbox Games Showcase celebrating 25 years of the gaming brand. Now, under the leadership of the new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, Xbox games are going back to their original release methods. She appeared in the livestream itself to announce the return of Xbox console exclusives. This means two major upcoming games from first-party studios won't be coming to PlayStation or Nintendo consoles: Gears of War: E-Day from The Coalition and Clockwork Revolution from InExile. Both titles will only be coming out on Xbox Series X|S consoles and Windows PCs, ditching any plans they had for PlayStation. "These are not timed exclusives," confirmed Microsoft. "We’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond." The company confirmed that any already announced Xbox titles for PlayStation, under previous leadership, will continue to arrive for the rival platform. This means games like the new Halo remake, Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and State of Decay 3 will still be available on PlayStation, either at launch or later. It sounds like any new projects announced by the company will avoid other consoles in the same way. Microsoft first opened the floodgates by bringing titles like Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles back in 2024. Since then, almost every new game release from Xbox Game Studios has arrived for rival consoles alongside Xbox and PC. This decision follows Sony's plans to ditch its own multiplatform releases too. Outside of multiplatform live service titles, the PlayStation maker is even abandoning its PC porting endeavors that started years ago.
    • I'm missing the beginning part of this equation... but for the sake of the convo, you don't get to take a $250(?) set of normally priced RAM, jack it up to over $500/600/800 just because of a market shift, then lower it back down to more than what it was originally and call that a "sale". Not the author of this post... the manufacturer/seller.
