Dune 9.5/10. The only problem is that it is not long enough!!!!

Well aint that some crap - so we are not even sure that we get next part yet so the movie is totally incomplete at this point?????

With all the good things being said about Dune, I'm sure there will be a part 2.

It's already made $130m outside the US and without China.  It might not make a billion but it doesn't have to.  I think we're going to get a part 2, for sure.  And really there was no way to make the thing into a single movie.  Unless you wanted a 4hr+ movie?  I doubt the studios and the movie theaters want that.  It had to be split up.

Only problem I have is that the wait for part 2 will be longer than it had to be because of the pandemic and so on.

9.5/10

Fantastic!  The scale of some of the scenes was incredible.  The acting well done, the music ethereal and beautiful.  Part 2 had better be coming out soon, very soon!

Till Death (IMDB) - Streaming on Netflix

Surprisingly good IMO ... strong performance by Megan Fox.

Side note:  Not a movie ...but Maid on Netflix is really, really good.  I binged watched that last week ... I highly recommend.

Saw Shang-Chi last night, it's your typical MCU movie, they don't do much to change the formula with these.  7/10.  Them trying to retroactively tie this into IM3 wasn't really needed IMO.

Question: When there is a death in a family, how long one should wait before it is socially acceptable to invite one of the mourners to a movie?

I don't know but I suppose it really depends on how close you are with the person in question.   Not everyone handles these things the same.

I know. I can handle the personal aspect on my own, since I am directly involved with the matter.

I was asking if there is a social norm.

Not that I'm aware of.  Just use your best judgment depending on how well you know the other person.

@George PBy the way, does Greece have any unique social norms? I'm assuming Helenism is not being practiced there anymore.

We're Orthodox Christian by majority.  As far as mourning periods go, the default is the first 40 days.   But again that's down to how close you are to the person who passed away.  It applies more to direct family members, and it's pretty much the only social norm that I'm aware of.

Very similar here. We have Muslims and Christians, both observe 40 days of mourning.

The other day, I was watching Red Notice; I was worried I might be laughing too loudly. It was a strange movie; I wasn't sure I was laughing because it was a comedy or goofy, i.e., whether the predominant nonsensical state of affairs was deliberate or a director's mistake. I needed a good laugh, but I also didn't want to offend anybody.

who would you be offending?

I just saw red notice to, 6.5/10. It has some funny moments but it's mostly a silly over the top popcorn flick.

Same assessment...

To skip or not to skip.

I mean I enjoyed both actors in other semi silly movies (free guy and jungle Crouse, recently) but I don't like Gal at all and the idea of this movie does not see to have Jumanji adventure or real life video game adventure appeal.

So should I watch or should I not... Let me know.

It isn't a bad movie, so I wouldn't skip it (nor should you drop everything to watch it right now).

As George said...it's just a silly popcorn flick.

Saw Venom 2 a few nights ago, 6/10, overall it's nothing special but the Brock and Venom banter is something I enjoy and what saves it IMO.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. 9/10 Surprising great movie. Its one of the better MCU movies.

Let me guess: It's about a guy who beats up other guys to save the universe. The antagonist is someone immortal, immoral, or immune, who wants to open a dimensional portal to Dormamu/Thanos/Ether/End of Time/(Something nasty), which comes every once in a (n * 10 ^ m) years during celestial alignment. And then, during credits, a scene plays in which someone does something he or she wasn't supposed to do. And I'm guessing there are ten rings that are either made of Vibranium or Infinity Stones.

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
