btw this is bullsh*t..

i already got PMs "congratulating" me about my achievement.. IMO nobody needs to see what my warning level is, but myself..

not that it bothers me seeing it all the time, i just think other members shouldnt be able to see it..

we can't see your levels

well.. hmmmm

i know i've been warned at least twice before.. but it says 0%.

honostly I DON"T GIVE A SH!T about this "warning" if it was there before, what difference does it make that you can see it now? that is not going to change the way i post anything! warning or no warning, it doesn't matter.

the fact that it doesnt lower over time is complete BS. i mnea, if you have been here for a while, like say xStainDx and did sone foolish things when you first got here, and got a warning, you should be rewarded by taking off 10%. IMO that has to be the dumbest rule ive ever heard.

But what does it constitute to anybody what their warning level is? If you are responsible and follow the rules, then you shouldn't have any issue. And if nobody else can see the warning levels, who cares? You are the one responsible for your own actions so take responsiblity for them.

By you having a higher warning level it just means that you did something against the rules. Unless you do something terribly wrong to get banned I don't believe you are given any different treatement by anyone.

It's just a monitor bar guys. Honestly. It's like a school file. You have control over your grades just as you do with your actions on the forum.

I agree with DaCoOlNeSs.

When we are new here we are still treading the water... this should not mean that I should have to suffer because I had differing political opinions to someone else 500 posts ago.

It is a warning that we are forced to see everytime we are here, so they should decrease over time!

Or if this is not the case, should not be shown at all (ignorance is bliss).

NFC, true but everytime you get an F at school you don't get it tattoed in phosphorous ink on the inside of your eyelid (weird analogy)

How long has it been since a mod has been in here? I'm tempted to make a new thread to this effect...

well what should it matter. if u know u hav to b good now then be good and your warning level wont go up anymore therefore you wont get banned.

it dus not matter wheteher its on )% or 80% as long as you dont break the rules after that.

do you understand what im gettin at?

I know what you're getting at, but I still no like it

The brownish meter there that will never go away adds a negative atmosphere to neowin browsing.

I mean, for crying out loud, I don't need to be told I was an idiot once SIX MONTHS LATER and everyime I enter these forums for the rest of my life.

Well, that said (as weird as it was) a single F can hold you back for years to come when it pertains to certain education (ie. applying to a different school to continue education). Maybe Neowin is of the higher learning where bad behaviour can hold you back long into the future.

Take it another way if you will; receiving certain criminal offences stays on your record for years at a time and only until a judge decides it is time to clear the slate if you have been good will it be changed. The difference is; a criminal record can hold you back from certain things (jobs, career movements, credit, etc) where-as your rising warning level will hold you back from...what exactly?

I don't understand the problem in all its entirety though; follow the rules, keep the count low, enjoy the thread. I am making an assumption here, but I wonder if all the ppl complaining about their warning level are ppl who actually have something other than zero. There are reasons for this. What is wrong with being responsible about it?

I think the system (because it has always been here) is a good one. The fact that it has been now publically enduced (to indiviuals only that is) is no big deal. I don't understand why some are making it into one.

Because I don't need to be reminded every time I post in a thread that my warning level is 40 Percent.

Let me hide it like Quick Reply!

Since its a user level option anyway, set by admin I don't see why the board can't be hacked into letting us show or hide it.

The point is to beneift us, but I see no benefit in it personally I don't want it on my screen. I don't need my hand held and I don't need that stupid reminder of the crap I pulled way back whenever it was for whatever reason.

So please just let us show/hide itin User CP. ::begs::

Well said (Y)

The warning bar is there to remind you of what you have done in the past, to learn from it and essentially become an even better member here at Neowin.

So what if you have been warned, no-one is perfect here at Neowin. We downgrade warnings if we are at fault or there is a mistake altogether depending on the specific situation - other than that, they stay.

I honestly don't see what is all the fuss about people being annoyed that they have recieved some warnings in the past and can now see them - deal with it.

Neowin is not your "run-of-the-mill" tech website, we are unique and this change show that.

xStainDx - I'll ask the Admins if it is possible to implement it into the User CP, but don't hold me to that.

Radish?

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
