LG launches "world's first" native 1000Hz 1080p UltraGear gaming monitor

LG unveils 24.5-inch UltraGear 25G590B, the "world's first" native 1000Hz Full HD gaming monitor for esports, launching late 2026.

LG today announced what it describes as the "world’s first" Full HD gaming monitor with a native 1000Hz refresh rate. As is typical with these launches, the product is aimed at competitive esports players and similar such fast-paced gaming environments. The new monitor comes under the UltraGear branding with the model number "25G590B," and is expected to launch in select markets during the 2H (second half) of 2026.

This 24.5-inch monitor, as mentioned above, features a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and is designed primarily for first-person shooter (FPS) games, where quick reactions and visual clarity are considered essential.

Over time, gaming monitors with very high refresh rates (480 Hz and higher) have become increasingly common in esports, but LG says the 25G590B is the first consumer monitor to offer a native 1000Hz refresh rate at Full HD resolution. The company previously had a 27-inch 480 Hz 1440p OLED display. This is impressive for sure as 1000 Hz natively without any overclock is not easy.

According to LG, the display’s native 1000Hz refresh rate allows for smoother motion and faster visual updates and is basically intended to improve motion clarity and maintain sharpness during fast-moving gameplay. To further help with that, the monitor also includes Motion Blur Reduction Pro, a feature designed to make moving objects appear sharper and easier to track during gameplay. LG added that the display uses an IPS panel with a low-reflection coating to help reduce glare and being IPS, it should maintain decent color consistency across various viewing conditions.

Of course, the 25G590B packs AI-based gaming features too including automatic scene optimization and audio adjustments. LG says these functions are designed to adapt picture settings based on game genres and improve spatial audio performance when paired with compatible headsets.

In terms of physical design, the monitor uses a compact stand with adjustable height, swivel and tilt controls. The smaller base footprint is intended to provide more desk space for mouse movement, a setup commonly preferred by competitive gamers. Calibration markers have also been added to help users recreate preferred positioning between gaming sessions or tournament environments.

In terms of pricing, LG has not yet announced pricing details for the monitor but the company expects broader market availability to expand gradually after the initial launch period later this year.
