Does Dell offer financing on the monitor? Because I would like to do one of those things where you pay 100 dollars down and like 50 a month or so... 900 dollars is really intimidating for someone with no job.

I hear Dell Financial Services really ain't good...

A person with no job should not be buying a $900 LCD, I would think. If you have a VISA with a $1,000 limit or more, then I would use that to buy it. Otherwise, hang in there with what you got until prices drop even further.

Just some friendly advice from a fellow Neowinian.

I Paid for mine via Dell Financing :)

Are you saying that BenQ manufatured and make DELL's monitors?

I click on the link and it's dead...maybe that's just me.

Also, search for discounts and you can get it down to like 700 for the monitor.

And I would certainly agree that you should use a credit card to pay for it instead of using their financing.

It costs a lot of money at the end....

Hehe, Dell should pay me commission! :D

I used to work for dell for about 2 years and they said i would get "commision" but even selling 40k a week for them it's a "team based commision" so even thought i'd hit like 270% of my goal for the week I wouldn't see one red cent from them., B@stards

I prefer the Viewsonic VP201s/b. Looks much better imo and has a nearly identicle screen to that of the 2001FP.

I wonder if it uses the EXACT SAME LCD panel? Dell does not make their own panels, so its very much possible. The Dell is very nice though, I have never seen the Viewsonic in person but am sure it is equally nice.

BTW.. are the Viewsonics much cheaper?

Please, please, please,

Could someone try and post a picture of their Dell 2001fp showing a black coloured desktop, in a dark room. I've just got one and I'm 90-95% happy with it, apart from the backlight leakage in the top left and right hand corners. The Ebay seller here in the UK will replace it, but they can't let me compare both together, so I might end up with similar or worse.

If I could see hopefully a few images I would be able to see if what I have is normal. In that case I would keep the monitor and just get on with it, as I knew of the certain flaws this had before I ordered one.

And don't let this request put anyone off getting one of these, it truly is stunning to see it in action. I'll post a better opinion when all of this is cleared up.

Thanks in advance.

I got mine yesterday. Damn nice monitor. The first thing I did was set up UT2K4 in 1600x1200. It took a few seconds to get used to it, but it looks beautiful.

Everquest looks amazing on it. I had EQ running when I had my 23" Cinema Display from my Mac hooked up to my PC and it really looks panoramic. Unfortunately, I couldn't justify ANOTHER $2000 for a monitor on a machine I mainly play games on so I had to settle for the Dell.

I love the multiple inputs. I only have the DVI and D-Sub connected right now (the D-Sub's connected to my G5 server). The analog connection looks fuzzy to me which is expected on an analog connection, even at 1600x1200x60. I only pop onto the G5 when I have to tweak the server anyway so I don't use it much.

As for gameplay itself, there's nothing I saw using this monitor that I didn't see on my Sony 420GS so I can't really say that the monitor has any drawbacks. I'm very happy with it, and no dead pixels (yay!). I'm going to hook up my modded Xbox to it later today since it hasn't had anything to run with in the last year.

I haven't tried actually tilting the monitor. I don't think I really NEED to, or ever will.

One thing I love about LCD monitors is how well and detailed everything looks on it now. Tube monitors don't do artwork justice.

I'd say my only gripe is that I have to put the center channel under the monitor now. I was so used to it being on top, but there's no way to balance it on a 1" ledge. It fits nicely underneath.

You can see the bad backlight in this picture of the matrix. The camera makes it worse than it is, but ideally you shouldn't be able to see the backlight. Is this something that is wrong with every single 2001fp or is it an isolated problem.

Mine should be here any minute (or hour, lol), I'm hoping for no defects as well.

Well I just got mine in, it had been damaged in shipping (big hole in the bottom of the box), consequently right where the panel is packed face down. So where the hole is I have a nice fuzzy dark spot on the screen. Called up Dell and am getting a replacement though, so here's hoping that the second time is the charm.

That's unfortunate. :o

Yeah, at least they are shipping one out to me now rather than having me ship back the old one first. It speeds things up and I can still use this one with the spot. I also noticed one stuck (red) pixel but only after running a test (I'd never catch it otherwise). I hope this next one is at least that good.

Other than that I am very pleased it's a brilliant display (minus some backlight leakage during movies or black backgrounds as people have reported).

    • Hmm actually looks decently interesting!
    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
