I don't think it will be useful for any functional purpose and why waste our time on MAC OS when we have more useful applications on IBM PC and fairly good WIN XP OS, yes for the emulation sake

we can design our desktop like MAC and I think we are very good at that, in any case emulator are very sluggish and can't be used for any useful purpose. https://www.neowin.net/forum/style_images/N...B-674/icon7.gif

I give it a week of hype before everyone realizes it is useless. Except for you Jackalo, I'm sure it will run Sherlock just fine and while you are at it you might want to check out a program called Watson. Its an OS X Sharware version of Sherlock except much better.

In any case it may do some good for Apple is people are able to try out OS X before buying a Mac. I was always a firm believer that Apple should do something like this but just as a live demo disc so Windows/PC users could try out OS X before they went and got a Mac.

Have you ever actually USED a Mac? I mean, for Christ's sake you're using terms like "IBM PC" which leads me to believe you're still in that mid-late 80's mindset. Ever since I bought my G5 I've been using my PC MUCH less than I used to.

What apps do you use?

The only REAL advantage Windows has is in gaming. That's it.

Hell, even Kismet works on the Mac...with an Orinoco card.

I have to agree with that.

What I was talking about using OS X on a x86 pc for the first time was....It's never been done before. And yes it has been emulated on the atari....but never truly working on a wintel machine.

Nope, im getting my powerbook soon and my neighbour wants panther anyways on her G3 iMac, so shes gonna buy it off me.

If you are buying a PowerBook why are you buying Panther seperatly? It comes with it. Plus Tiger should be out this fall/winter.

I think the point is more, if you had a Windows PC, what program does Apple offer that you would have to emulate it to use?

I could use them interchangably, but I don't see the point for using both of them.

Or you could use KisMAC which works with both AirPort and AirPort Extreme cards. It also supports passive scanning and some encription hacking tools.

Well, KisMAC is the app I was referring to, but I didn't think people would actually think it was a real port since it had the MAC on the end of it.

The iApps kick ass, and there are NO apps on the Wintel side that even come close to them. Emulating them would be a bitch, though, and the hardware integration that works on the Mac would surely break with this emulator. I'd like to see this emulator suck in Audio and Video in real time, even after it matures. :laugh:

I use Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro for my stuff. Photoshop is sweet on the Mac. There are a lot of little apps that the Mac has that I use all the time.

I used to turn on my Mac and my PC every day when I came home from work. Now I boot my PC only when I want to play UT2K4. :laugh:

Emulation is of course not the answer for running iApps or basically anything else on a daily basis (except Sherlock).

People make it seem like switching to a Mac is something that is near impossible. It really is easier than most people think whithin a week of buying my Mac last year I sold my PC. The only advantage a PC has is games and I have a console for that.

Both platforms have their advantages for some people and if one has more apps you are going to use then its time to move. Everyone can complain about the cost of a Mac but if you would save some money its not a big deal. The eMac is a great machine for someone who wants to add another computer to their house.

Just my opinions.

i don't think apple is too worried about this. they could go a lot of ways on this. they could go the legal route and try to shut it down, but i don't think apple wants to go this way, and if i was steve jobs, i wouldn't. sure, it's nice you have a 3ghz pc, but you're never really going to have the design. you could be like that one guy with the g5 case and toss a bunch of pc parts in, but then you don't have the quiet fan system. i think the way apple should proceed on this one is looking at it in a "we could expand our market out there". this will never match apple's pro computers, even at a final release. they could increase the authorization required (like windows xp) to make sure people are paying for osx and easily make tons of money. $130 a year, a major release every year... sure, probably not as nice as the chunk of change apple gets per ipod or per g5, but still a nice little lump of money.

Not trying to flame, but why do you think that? I use iMac G4 800mhz with 768MB RAM machines at school, for work with Photoshop and Illistrator and christ, it sucks. Both of those programs run like total ass on those machines, and I'd imagine it would take atleast double the power of those machines to run it decently.

I'm running it on a dual 2.0GHz G5 so my experience is much different than yours.

It's fast, it's smooth, and the response time for simple things are practically instantaneous.

apple has ****ed adobe off, now they are opimising photoshop and the rest of their adobe products for the x86 architecture.

see, the reason why school computer is slow is cuz there are a lot of poeple using that machine. everyone handles the computer differently. thats why schools replace their computer every so often. my school are now using emac just last year we were using the same one your using.

I actually Disagree with you here.... I work with pretty much every adobe product that is out there at work... I can tell you I have a G4 1ghz with only 512mb of ram on 10.3.3 and I can assure you that My mac beats the hell out of my PC with apps like Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS... Some apps just are not built around mac because there is no need for it. For exmaple you will never see a Photoshop Albums for the Mac... because you Iphoto... You will never see Encore DVD for the Mac because you have Idvd... Some apps that adobe has decide to drop such as framemaker and Premier are for good reason, Mac has there own apps like final Cut pro, Motion and so forth that are built right from apple and adobe see no reason to compete with that because why by something from adobe when apple can just package it with there products for a lower cost.

I will agree that the new age adobe products run a little slower then past versions, but they do so much more and I can assure you that Adobe has not forgotten the mac, I can say that almost 70% of the people I deal with everyday are mac users, and they do get slowing but it aint any better for x86.... I mean try running photoshop 7, CS and Photoshop Elements 2.0 on your mac at the same time and you will see that it can be done... then open up the same apps on the PC with similar of not better specs then your mac and you will see the differnce in preformace.

Today at Summer Game Fest, Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced with a new trailer while also confirming a whole lot of information about the setting of this survival horror project. Check out the reveal trailer above. Leaving behind the Sevastopol space station, the sequel will take players to a remote colony world. With a Xenomorph (or more) on the loose, players will be navigating both the surface of the weather-ravaged planet as well as "the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station." Interestingly, Creative Assembly is leaving behind Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley, as the protagonist too. While it hasn't confirmed a name yet, players will be taking the role of a new character for this new adventure. The setting is also being described as a new hunting ground for the Alien. This will have players improvising and developing new tools to aid in their survival and escape, all to avoid "cinema’s deadliest killer." "It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel," says Al Hope, Creative Director at Creative Assembly. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer."       Like the article stated, it's written completely from scratch, unlike the umpteen Chromium clones. It got its start as the browser built-in to the also written-from-scratch SerenityOS.

      Hello, From looking at the screen shots in your motherboard's manual at https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/Intel 600/Manual/Intel 600 Series BIOS English/Intel 600 Series BIOS User Guide.pdf, you go to the ADVANCED option at the top of the BIOS (UEFI) menu, then select SECURITY in the list of options on the left.  From there  you can enable and set the Secure Boot mode.       Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is getting a simultaneous release across PC and all consoles by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Square Enix showed up to the Summer Game Fest presentation today with multiple trailers showing off its next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. The final chapter of this trilogy now has an official name too, with it being dubbed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, following up Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from recent years. Vincent Valentine, Cid, Cloud, Barret, Tifa, and more showed up in the trailers as they battle against enemies, or 'Weapons,' from the final chapter. "As the world teeters on the brink of annihilation, the final battle against Sephiroth begins," says the trailer description. "A meteor mars the sky, monstrous planetary guardians wreak havoc across the globe, and the fires of war rage. Now, Cloud and his companions must stand against this chaos to not only decide the planet's fate, but bring a legendary conflict to its conclusion." Following the reveal trailer, the show also dropped some gameplay footage that shows off a new way to travel across the open world using the Highwind airship. Players will be able to swap characters on during battles, use tactical mode to synchronize with allies, and summon their entities. Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine are joining the party this time too. “FINAL FANTASY VII, first released in 1997, has been beloved by fans for many years and has since become a “legend” in its own right," added producer Yoshinori Kitase. "The FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series that began in 2020 with everyone’s passionate support is finally reaching its climactic finale with FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION. The story’s final destination represents my emotions spanning thirty years working on this title" One of the biggest revelations of this announcement, however, was the multiplatform release confirmation from the get-go.
