Your Mac Hardware Setup

Why 3 laptops basically the same size?

Just keeping the PowerBook as a collectors item.

MacBook Pro is for work.

MacBook Air is my personal notebook. Love it since day one!

My guess is he prefers notebooks with smaller displays for portability sake.

I'm the same... I'd pick the 11.6'' MBA over the 13.3'' model any day.

Pretty much.

Well...upgrading to the base model 21.5" iMac from Apple under Applecare. My iMac 20" (mid-2007), system has had it's host of troubles from hard drive failures to Superdrive failures finally ending up in my headphone jack stopping working on the left channel. Throw in a randomly freezing USB system, I decided it was time to call them up. They agreed to replace my system and since they didn't have anything in their old systems to replace with are sending me this one:

21.5-inch iMac

Configuration

* 3.06GHz Intel Core i3

* 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB

* 500GB Serial ATA Drive

* ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB GDDR3 SDRAM

* 8x double-layer SuperDrive

* Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide

* Magic Mouse

* Country Kit

The processor I have now is 2.0ghz so a nice little upgrade and then the video will be better I think. Not certain though as I haven't gone through all my stats on my current system, but will be shipping that out tomorrow or the next day to them and then getting the new one in about a week. Will be losing my 640gb hard drive in it now, but not too worried as I never use more than 300gb at a time it seems. :)

Of course, if I wanted to, I could have gotten more for extra $$$ but since it is a straight across exchange, I am pretty happy 'bout it.

Now, of course, I don't know exactly how things work where you live but the US got pretty good consumer laws too if I am not mistaken. Over here in Sweden if a device (or whatever really) breaks in the same way 3 times or different ways 4 (might have changed to just breaks 3 now) you "cancel" the purchase and get a full refund, can't imagine there isnt something similar in the US, so really don't think you would have needed the apple care :p but it's pretty sweet none the less :p

Repost from the workstations thread. I think there's enough Apple that it belongs here too. :p

I did a little re-arranging today.

From left to right:

RadioShack Pro-164 radio scanner

Logitech Z-2300 Speakers (sub is under the printer on the floor)

LG 22" LCD

21.5" iMac (most recent generation)

iPhone 4 16gb

iPad 64gb wifi+3G

13" MacBook Air ultimate (most recent generation)

And of course the little Apple remote in the middle for the Apple TV (off frame to the right with my tv/360)

    • Here is how to watch Apple's WWDC 2026 conference where iOS 27 is expected by Taras Buria It is Monday, June 8, 2026, which means today is the day Apple kicks off its annual Worldwide Developer Conference, WWDC 2026. As usual, today's keynote will be full of consumer and developer-focused announcements, including new versions of Apple's operating systems, developer tools, and more. Apple streams its developer conferences, allowing everyone to tune in and watch the announcements live. Today is no exception, so here is how you can watch it. Apple WWDC 2026 will be available to watch on Apple's official website here. Also, you can stream it on YouTube and the Apple TV app on your Apple device. The stream kicks off at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM GMT+1. Apple's annual developer conference usually focuses on new software experiences, so do not expect major hardware announcements. What is expected is the "27" series of Apple's operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and macOS. Apple is unlikely to introduce major UI changes, but you can expect subtle tweaks to the Liquid Glass design language, particularly on Mac. One of the biggest changes Apple plans to announce today is a reworked, AI-powered Siri. The assistant will be available as a standalone app with a chatbot-like experience and Google's AI models under the hood. If you want to learn more about what is expected today at WWDC 2026, check out our dedicated article here. However, if you prefer a spoiler-free stream, tune in at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT on Apple's official website, its YouTube channel, or the Apple TV app.
    • For we consumer readers, it would be helpful if you clearly stated in the headline if the article is about consumer or enterprise. Then readers will know if the article applies to them or not. 2 cents.
    • At the moment I have my main PC and a test PC on my work desk. The test PC is also not inverted so I am not looking at the glass panel side, which is irritating.
    • I'm glad you posted this clarification of the cause of so-called Windows 11 update problems that too often appear in the article headlines.. In the future, it would be better to readers if you took your time, did the analysis before posting an article about Windows problems, which end up being a waste of time. Just saying.
    • Nah. They'll milk the current generation in terms of design - controllers, consoles, but no meaningful hardware improvements. This is one reason why people aren't buying Xbox hardware - it's stagnant.
