NeoRequest

Question

Neowin,

Over the past few months, myself (JMann) and Chorpeac have been working on a new graphics request system for Neowin, called Neorequest. This system has been designed to provide a lot more organised and simplier system to request graphics. My job on Neorequest was to provide the skins and to make the graphics on Neorequest look very good and also to make the system simple so users dont get confused or stuck when using it. Chorpeac was the guy who codes the whole thing together and makes all work together and has done a brilliant job bringing it all together and it has worked perfectly, so without further talk, myself and Chorpeac present Neorequest Graphics Request System. Enjoy the system and drop us a comment or question in the Neorequest Official Neowin Forum, all linked below.

Neorequest Graphics Request System

Neorequest Official Neowin Forum

Enjoy it, as it was made for all of you and Neowin.

Best Regards,

JMann and Chorpeac.

Ok, just simply refresh that page or redo the action and see if you get it again. If you don't ok, but if you do get it again, Clear Cookies and Cache from your computer then do it all again then and then shouldnt appear, if it does though, logout and login again. If you still get it after that, post back here and we will see what's happened. It was probably Chorpeac changing and moving some files around.

Well, i think i know why this is happening to me...

I asked some time ago to Neobond to change my nick, and he did...

So i was Inspire and if i use that nick it does enter in Neorequest, it's not right but i hope someone could fix this...

Just read through this twice, look now whats the problem here? Neobond changed your name, ok right, and then if I re-write your sentence to make sense, I think it would go like:

So I was inspired, and went to see if I could use my new name on NeoRequest and see if it works correctly.
And then you said it enters NeoRequest fine from this bit:
it does enter in Neorequest

But then you say it's not right? So your saying everything works, but your just making a fuss over nothing? Am I right? Clarify this please.

I think he's trying to say that he used his old nickname (Before he got it changed by Neobond) to log in on NeoRequest.net and it worked :D

why don't you let someone who at that time already log on in neowin go through to neowin request. just my suggestion

585132461[/snapback]

Could be an idea, but there could be some security flaws, and some errors would come into the picture I think. But it's always an idea, we will see about it when the new Visual Theme enters NeoRequest. It's a possibility. Thanks Roy for the clearity on that, but at least everyone is logging on fine now, damn Databases. :)

try clearing your cookies/cache.

Have you tried cleaning your cookies or cache though, that would be the problem. I am almost 90% sure on that one, if not try another browser, for example Opera or Firefox, either things should fix the problem, get back to me on that one. ;)

First of all: Thanks JMann for this great request system. I really like it, keeps me occupied and is a good way to improve my godlike skills.

"Having said that, I do have some thoughts"?b>i>

- Most Requesters don't seem to check the site regularly. They just seem to shoot and forget. They want a logo, banner, a signature, an avatar or whatever (sometimes quite important stuff in my opinion) and sometimes either don't reply at all to submissions or only days later. I don't get that. If you get stuff for free (which is the case most of the time), at least have the decency to thank the designer for the effort, even if you don't like their designs. You have to remember that there actually was someone (and by someone I mean good to very good designers) who sat down, thought about your request and designed something, knowing that the reward for it is going to be nothing at all.

- Some requesters are not able to specify clear criteria for the job they need. I don't get that either. It's cool to specify colours and wording, but for chrissakes, give us, the designers, as many infos as possible! If it just says "blue, white, red lol", there isn't much I can do wrong, but the possibilities are just infinite. You're obviously not going to be happy with the results if you don't specify what you want. Take a few minutes, think about the logo you need, and bspecificb>. The less specific you are, the longer it'll take the designer, and the more errors can be made, which result in bad ratings, even though all requirements are met.

- I personnally accept requests I can relate to straight away. I don't submit for the sake of it, I submit work I think is worth showing, and of course work I assume usable. I think mass-accepting/submitting just to be present is not the way to go. If there is no connection between the request and the designer, the request shouldn't be accepted. For instance, I do not relate to screwdrivers, and I'm not going to accept a request of a screwdriver-company (unless it's the drink).

- Requestors: You just have to assume that all the people on neorequest have jobs, or at least better things to do than modifying accepted requests for hours and hours. Details can always be changed of course, but I personnally can't afford to spend so much time modifying my logos. You like the logo, you get the source file, you want a couple of slight changes, done. We work for free, don't take advantage of that, or offer something in return.

I know I keep moaning, but I really love the neorequest-system and I'll keep submitting.

Cheers,

cybadelic

Initially when I joined the Neorequest system, I had feelings quite similar to what are expressed above. I don't mean to hijack this thread off-topic since it is specifically for addressing bugs at Neorequest and not abuse/misuse of the system as a whole, but I agree with what is being said above by Cybadelic, a trusted member and really good artist working here for free.

A designer has to work hard for maybe an hour or two - especially a slowpoke like me - at the very least to achieve the final result which he presents to the requestor; so at the very least, one would expect at least a "Thank you" !

Personally, I always send an email to the requestor to inform him/her that their request has been filled and to email me back in case they want changes, but in 9 cases out of 10, I don't even receive a simple "thank you, cheers m8 !" reply :( Forget ratings, that's miles away !

That being said, I think Neorequest allows us upcoming artists some freedom to apply our techniques in real world situations and helps us to grow and refine our methods, so don't count on me leaving too soon :)

I now get this error when entering

ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Too many connections ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Too many connections

btw it's great

585541989[/snapback]

Ok, I want to do this in sections. Galoosh, thats weird. But upon reading it, it just looks like to many connections where getting on to NeoRequest at once, if you still get that error shoot me a screenshot here or in the NeoRequest subforum and I will look into it futher. ;) Hope its okay now though,

Damn, yeah doing loads of Graphics work for people I know how hard it is to have people not even say thanks for doing the work. It doesn't make it feel as if you are appreciated. Regarding the ammount of times people dont come back, I know about this, and its a shame, at the moment I have seen a slight increase (now decreasing though) of people &quotestingi>" out NeoRequest making requests and then not coming back, its such a shame, and we had the same problem on Neowins Graphic Request thread, and people got angry on Neowin, which resulted in warnings/restrictions in the end, which was a shame. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do by getting people to come back onto NeoRequest and say thanks, we have the rating system, and maybe with the help of Redmak and Neowin we might be able to incorporate something like a PM system that PM's someone on Neowin when the request is done and then the users can add there little messages on the end, and then they can continue the chat via PM on neowin, hopefully ending in a Thank you. We will see.:happy:y: But I suggest PM'ing the user on Neowin, that might help them to get back on. We all appreciate your work, as I stated in NeoRequest news a while back. And you can tell you like it, and you can tell I appreciate your thoughts as I wouldnt right back such a reply. Think of it like that, thats what I do, and sometimes, just sometimes it makes it worthwhile:):)

- Some requesters are not able to specify clear criteria for the job they need. I don't get that either. Hmm, this has made me think. I think I might start writing a little Artists Advice section for NeoRequest so users can see what they find usefull. As I for one know, there is nothing worst than people not clearly stating what you want, and then you get told its rubbish, anthenb> they say what they want and you find yourself doing it all again.:rolleyes:s: I will get back to everyone on this, it might be an idea if you could give me your ideas or if we worked on a little article explaining the right and wrong ways to do things. Add me to MSN if you like, click me MSN button;);)

- I personnally accept requests I can relate to straight away. I don't submit for the sake of it, I submit work I think is worth showing, and of course work I assume usable. Yeah, I personally think you have to put time and effort in to work, and if you dont like it improve it or redo it, depending on your thoughts or the requestors. But you have to think people have different ranges of skills in graphics, so you have to give them time to get practice, and NeoRequest is a good place for this, as long as the aren't too terrible.

My advice to first time artists, practice makes perfect, but save them on your own computer, not to people's requests when you know they arent very good. Be proud!:yes:s:

- Requestors: You just have to assume that all the people on neorequest have jobs, or at least better things to do than modifying accepted requests for hours and hours. This is another problem, and people have to understand this, and most do, but there are the one or two. We do have lives, and personally I sometimes hate sitting at a screen all day, it bores me, so I go out walking, go to the pub and be with my friends, and what the heck, I even go wall climbing up in the hillsides, its me. People have to appreciate with what they get, as long as the are happy with it. Which they should be:):)

I know I keep moaning, but I really love the neorequest-system and I'll keep submitting.

Thats fine, and thank you!:D:D

Cheers,

cybadelic

This thread isn't just for bugs, it for everything, although it would be better to here this from the NeoRequest forum. We are working for free (most of the time) but we choose to, and I myself when I have time like to help and I enjoy it! The same as you all I would of thought. We all appreciate it, some people don't reply, but thats the world we live in, its not nice but we can't personally do anything about it.

A designer has to work hard for maybe an hour or two - especially a slowpoke like me - at the very least to achieve the final result which he presents to the requestor; so at the very least, one would expect at least a "Thank you" !

Im sure your not that slow, but slower the better I think;);) As I said in Cyberdelics replies, it might be nice to get this PM system working, but yes, its very disheartending but 90% of us appreciate everyones hard work:D:D

Personally, I always send an email to the requestor to inform him/her that their request has been filled and to email me back in case they want changes, but in 9 cases out of 10, I don't even receive a simple "thank you, cheers m8 !" repl:(:( Forget ratings, that's miles away !

Thats a shame, its hard I know, and its tough to keep you motivated, but keep at it, little things can all add upto one big thing in the end.

That being said, I think Neorequest allows us upcoming artists some freedom to apply our techniques in real world situations and helps us to grow and refine our methods, so don't count on me leaving too soo:):)

Good I am glad, and thanks for the comments, I appreciate and read them all;);)

Thank you,

JMann

Edit: Errors fixed;);) Quote wouldn't work, so every quote is in red, sorry about that.:laugh:h:

I need a logo like the round Dell one, but with 'iBox' in it, and white on blue(like the blue on the very left of this page). The text MUST be as rounded as possible, with NO SQUARE CORNERS.

Thanks in advance.

(The logo will be used on my new PC, and maybe my website)

    • They thought value of their goods would forever only drop like it used to and didn't account for sudden increase in price because of all the Ai hype. Tough luck Samsung, don't try to weasel this one out. Also American customer protection laws are a**. In Europe, you need to be compensated for a functioning product of same or better characteristics (not same price point as when it was originally bought!) if it can't be repaired and when you receive a replacement product your warranty starts from scratch because you received a different item than you previously had and old warranty thus cannot apply to it anymore. If your actual item was successfully repaired, warranty gets extended for the period the item was in service. If item is repaired to a significant extent, warranty also starts over from scratch because major part of it was replaced. Americans need to fight to get this kind of consumer protections because they are constantly getting screwed over.
    • Microsoft releases new Windows 11 Media Creation Tool with the latest updates by Taras Buria Patch Tuesday updates arrive every month, bringing users new features and security updates. To make sure customers have access to the most recent images, Microsoft also releases updates to the Media Creation Tool app, its official utility for Windows 11 installation. Today, the company pushed new ISOs to Media Creation Tool, allowing you to create images with the June 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. With the latest update, the Media Creation Tool now downloads KB5094126. It is Windows 11 version 25H2, build 26200.8655, which is also available via Windows Update. Note that the app itself remains on the previous version, which you can check in Properties > Details. The only change is that it now downloads a more recent Windows 11 build, so the only way to check is to download an ISO. The June 2026 Patch Tuesday update is a special release for Windows 11, as it brings a new performance profile to make the operating system more responsive and snappier when rendering various user interface surfaces, including the Start menu, quick settings, and more. It does so by spiking processor speeds for a brief moment, resulting in higher loads for a second or two. The so-called “Low latency profile” is rolling out gradually, but you can force-enable it with the ViVeTool app. Other changes include webcam improvements, Task Manager updates, shared audio support, and more. You can download the Media Creation Tool app from the official Microsoft website using this link. Besides MCT, Microsoft lets you download Windows 11 ISO as a file directly from the official Windows 11 website. However, you will need a third-party app to write it to your USB drive. Check out this guide if you want to know how to do that.
    • Louis Rossmann suing Samsung over "990 Pro SSD warranty scam" by Sayan Sen Back in 2023, if you recall, Neowin reviewer Robbie Khan had a dispute with Samsung over his 990 Pro SSD, which was rapidly losing its health. After significant back and forth, the tech giant had finally released firmware to "stop" the issue. Interestingly, its previous flagship at the time, the 980 Pro was also facing problems leading to two consecutive sets of firmware fixes. Three years later, it looks like a similar conflict has now broken out between tech repair entrepreneur YouTuber Louis Rossmann and Samsung, as it has escalated into a threatened lawsuit after the company allegedly refused to appropriately replace a failing 990 Pro SSD that remained under warranty. According to Rossmann, a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD purchased for approximately $330 less than two years ago, began experiencing major hiccups and issues, even though he claims it had been operated under ideal cooling conditions. It was installed in a RAID 1 array and cooled by a heatsink and dual high-speed fans. However the drive reportedly started dropping out of the array, exhibiting controller-level failures that eventually became not useable in any meaningful way. Rossmann said Samsung’s support process was marked by delays and confusion from the very start. After initially contacting the wrong regional support channel, he was redirected to Samsung’s memory support division where he submitted detailed diagnostics, logs, and proof of purchase. Rossmann runs a repair company and owns an ACE Lab PC-3000 machine, which is a professional-grade data recovery equipment. As such, he had been confident in his diagnostics. Samsung even seemingly acknowledged that later. Regardless, Rossmann claims that his initial support ticket was automatically closed before a full 24-hour response window had elapsed, forcing him to reopen the case and resubmit documentation. The controversy however intensified further from here after Samsung accepted the drive for warranty evaluation but later returned it with a repair report stating that the drive had passed its testing and that the SSD had been verified as functional. Rossmann strongly disputed those claims citing that his own independent testing on PC-3000 showed write speeds reducing to as low as 40–60 MB/s before the drive failed entirely. Samsung subsequently informed him that the SSD had been reset and reflashed, passing internal stress tests. However, the company also stated that replacement units were unavailable due to an industry-wide memory shortage and suggested that a refund process could be initiated if further testing confirmed the fault. Thus, to settle, the company offered a refund of $330, the amount that was initially paid by him to make the purchase. Here, Rossmann pointed out the seeming hypocrisy of the tech giant as in how no Samsung drive was apparently allocated for warranty replacements, but they were abundantly available for retail sales especially when using business accounts. As you can see, Rossmann is indeed right, there are Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSDs on Amazon currently for $950 (shipped and sold by first-party Amazon US itself), and they are also available on Samsung's own store too, albeit for an even higher price of $1100. Thus Rossmann argues that Samsung’s inability or unwillingness to provide a replacement while the same model remains available for purchase at significantly higher market prices reflects a failure to honor its warranty obligations. He has issued a formal 60-day notice and says he intends to file suit in Texas small claims court, asserting that companies should face greater costs for denying legitimate warranty claims than for fulfilling them. You can check out the full video titled "Samsung's 990 Pro SSD warranty policy is a scam; I'm taking them to court," at the link below.
