Thanks it worked :) (didn't even think of that). Well, it's now 6am (3 hrs later) and I've entered the level "Sandtraps"...I have no idea how many more levels there are. But this game is getting good :D

* think I'll go to beddy byes now

OK the stuttering seems to have stopped, or is very rare and unoticable with that cfg trick. I've also made a new file called autoexec.cfg to my C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\yk890\half-life 2\hl2\cfg

the stuff in the autoexec file is:

cl_forcepreload "1"

sv_forcepreload "1"

cl_smooth "0"

Well, basically I am amazed at the experince HL2 is delevering me, but I dont have a nice graphics card that I would like to have (X700 coming in early next week) so I am going to stop progressing thru at this time. HOWEVER -- In the E3 Demo, I LOVED that Blue Physics/Gravity Gun, the one where he lifted the dead person up and so fourth, tossed him around and such.

I heard that you can aqquire this wepaon at the end of the game, but do to reasons stated above I dont want to soil the experince.

Is there anyway I and others can get this nifty tool BEFORE I reach the end? Im not sure which it is, if it is the "weapon_physgun" or "weapon_physcannon" but none of them bring it to my wepaon list, only the Oranged Beam Manipulator or whatever its technically called.

Any insight on getting the blue gravity gun before reaching the endis greatly appericated!

Thanks in advance,

- Nathan B.

You can accually pick up bodies with it! instead of jsut objects!?

I've had this problem with both HL2 and CS:S since the day CSS was "released" - although my video card (a radeon 9600 non-pro) seems to be able to handle the video (getting 30-60 FPS @ 800x600) it sound-stutters like crazy on sound-heavy places like de_aztec or the G-Man opener to HL2. I dropped to 640x480 and it seemed to fix that... I don't think it's the sound chipset - had the same issues with my onboard CMI 9xxx, a hardware accelerated CS4600 card, a SB-Live Emu10k card, and an old Ensoniq 1370. Yeah, I thought it was my onboard sound chipset, got desperate and started yanking people's cards :-P

And yeah, if anyone has a definite way to fix that, that'd be great, because I'd love to run the game at 800x600 so I don't feel like a complete ass in a room full of people with brand-new video cards going "OMG U SUXORS WE ALL DO 1600x1200 @ 200fps WTF LOLZZZ!!!?!?!!"

that was way back in the e3 demos and movies and leak, that is no longer the case. Objects only now, unless there is a mat_ option like with the cs:s body clipping...

I read the title, and I thought to myself "Geez, don't you just love it when people spoil things for ya"

Thanks for spoiling it for the people who havent heard about the blue gravity gun... it woulda been a nice surprise picking that up in the game

i liked that part also, but reminded me to much of Goldeneye lvl

I loved the bridge area before the section with the door and the battery puzzle ... crawling along the parts of the underbridge ... awesome I got the feeling that if I misstepped I would fall and I wasn't Gordon talk about putting you in game.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
