Can we have a screenie please? :D

Graphics card q....

Currently got xp1700 (@2400) 512ddr and gfmx420 128meg card.

I have a nother 512 mem in the post and think I need a better gfx card to really appreciate the lush graphics - my current card plays the game ok, but only at 800*600 on medium settings.

What card would be best for me with a budget of 60-80 squids??

think your going to need more of an upgrade then 80 bucks

yeah I agree, your going to have to shell out a llot more for a "decent" card.

as a bargain, i know the nvidia 5800's are coming down and so are the 9600s (128mb) ones (then again i'm in canada, so it might be different for u).

I'm running a 9600xt (128mb) and am running the game in full detail with 4X antialiasing and the game looks spectacular.

shop around my friend, ur bound to fall upon something.

im phuckin stuck at the bit where u get 3 turrets to setup, and then loads of them guard type people come....they keep knocking over my turrets an killin me whilst i put them back up :(

oh well, must try and try and try and try again !!!! :/

We have a way to go people, but were commign close on number of replies

flame on.

(but i think that has something to do with multiple threads being merged with this one)

I was very, very dissapointed in how super locked the game was

Just got it last night. Brought it home, and installed it. That took awhile being 5 discs and all. From the time it was off the disks to me actually playing the game: 45 minuets.

I wanted to strangle someone at valve.

I'm having sound problems. I've tried changing all the settings. But the sound still jumps around whenever there is dialog. It is very annoying.

The game plays well. Pretty linear, and it feels linear. FPS games are suppose to be linear, but I like it when it feels like you are just wondering in the right direction all the time. As if you think you have chosen a random path, but were really being guided the entire way. There is a lot of just "find your way out of this situation", and the stacking up box tricks are getting old already. I want to bring down some big ass monsters all ready.

So far, kinda dissapointed. But I've only invested a little over an hour of game time. Hopefully it will get better and I can fix my sound problems. I have a SBLive card around here some where. Maybe I'll try that.

my 2 cents.

this is crazy!

True, most of them are the same thing (bug, fix, help) - I'm doing all that in this single thread...even if it is unmanagable.

HL2 is a very popular game and 15 threads on a page proves that ;)

P.S.

I agree...too many people starting threads where all the questions have already been answered in this thread.

did anyone else find hl2 to be way too short for the 5 -6 years of development?

It's the technology in it (i.e. the Source engine). It will be used for other games so they spent a long time on it.

Yeah, well we already have a company that spends all their time making engines, it's id. Hopefully they make hl3, or whatever single player game they come up with next, on the source engine so they don't spend the whole time making the engine and not the game.

p.s. this game took about 8 gameplay hours to finish, that's more than underwhelming.

    • New Outlook for Windows and Web is getting a simple but very useful email feature by Sayan Sen Recently Microsoft put up a blog post highlighting not one, not two, but 15 total reasons why it feels you should switch to New Outlook already. If that was not enough, the company is bringing another new feature soon that could finally compel you to switch over to the new app. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the tech giant is making changes to how message sorting works when users choose criteria besides the traditional options of From, Subject, or Date Received. The idea is to provide better options for the attribute being used for sorting and make it easier to understand why messages appear in a particular order. For those unfamiliar Outlook already allows users to sort emails using a variety of fields including sender, category, importance, subject, and message size. Users can access these options through the Filter menu in Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. With the upcoming change, whenever users sort by a field other than From, Subject, or Date Received, Outlook will automatically display an additional column showing the value being used for the sort. For example, if messages are sorted by Size, a Size column will appear in the message list, allowing users to immediately see the data that determines the ordering of emails. Microsoft believes this should make sorting behavior simpler and reduce the need to manually adjust views or inspect individual messages. Support for sorting by Flag Due Date is also coming and should be especially be helpful for users who rely on email flags to manage follow-up tasks and deadlines. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564803 and is expected to reach general availability beginning later this month itself (June 2026). You can find the entry here. As always though, users should keep in mind that roadmap timelines can change and rollout schedules may occasionally be adjusted by Microsoft. Outlook for Web is also set to receive this feature.
    • That is true. but the liability side of my balance sheet is clean and has been for decades.  Nobody comes a knocking,  calling or writing harassing me for the money i owe them.😎👍  Haven't dealt with "a money changer" in decades and like Jesus it was in Jerusalem.  Don't have much money, but have even less stress in my life.👍👍     P.S.  Sorry, can't walk on water or change it to wine,
