this is not a problem with the game, its your drivers or your card, or maybe directx version. its already been answered in the steam forums its your PC

i had that same problem with 2 previous 9700 Pro's wiht UT2k4, its not the game

It's the card? In what way? Broken card? Not powerful enough? Seems to work on all my other games including new ones like Pacific Assault (Demo).

I'm going to try it in Windows 2000 again. I'll see if it still happening there.

I never had a single gfx glitch like that when I played.. definately a driver issue or something!

Some nice high res pics I took here btw if people wanna see - shouldn't be any spoilers or anything :)

My crappy 9600Pro EZ did me proud :D

I preloaded as I went along, so I can't say how long it took me :D

yeh, i was hoping to do something similar, download overnight...but my dad kept trying to avoid doing it, so i had to wait until late this morning

You just got it this morning? Or was there a new patch released? *Refreshes Steam*

ha, no need to refresh, i just got it this morning :pinch:

but again in a sense, it's early because it's a Christmas present, so I'm happy that I'm getting it now...now only 10 minutes left on my download of hl2, so if no replies then that's the reason :shifty:

4 hours it took to download HL2 and then an extra hour to download CS : Source and then a little while longer to download the SDK and after I downloaded the SDK my problms with starting HL2 went away (the memory could not be read to error) and I could start playing :)

Bought it on DVD as soon as i could, with me not having a Credit Card, was the only option :p other than use someone else's...but hey :p....

Although if i had used someone's credit card, id prolly been able to get the Silver package....cost me ?35....think its only ?26 for the bronze on Steam....oh wel:):)

Maybe (if they do it) will get someone to let me use it on an upgrade so i can get DoD:S and HL::):) bloody loved HL....

    • "...a low price of just $340..." I don't think it means what you think it means.
    • This Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 32GB RAM with RGB is a great deal for limited time by Sayan Sen Memory prices have been through the roof for a while, though it seems like things might finally be getting better. If you are in the market for one, then grab this Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000 CL36 kit with RGB for a low price of just $340 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The kit is compatible with both AMD and Intel systems as it supports both EXPO and XMP overclocking profiles, respectively. 6000 MT/s is often the sweet spot for many systems as it provides ample data transfer speed while still being on Gear 1 mode. • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
