hello proud 2005fpw owners! :woot:

have my precious now and it looks *really* sweet!

no dead pixels and no dreaded backlight leakage!

one small thing i noticed

is that when looking at the left side on the front

with a small angle and close to the screen, one can see a small light strip

under the bezel. there is no leakage into the screen however.

would like to know if i'm the only one with this "speciality" ?

thanks for answering!

Hey all,

I ordered mine two dell 2005fpw's on the 9th, got them today, and when I unpacked

them and saw "may 2005 rev a01", i was pretty shocked that i would get an earlier

model at such a late date of purchase (relative to everyone else)...s already I was

apprehensive. I hook up the monitors, and found one stuck green pixel and another

dead pixel on the other monitor. I then looked for backlight bleed...SEVERE. it was

terrible. I honestly thought everyone on the forums was just being super-picky (not that they don't have a right to), but the whole thing was just ridiculous!! All four courners had severe and obvious bleedthrough. Talked to customer care - they were really good,

and they gave me free next day on two exchange monitors that shipped out today. I made sure to note that I wanted rev a02 and I wanted them brand spanking new, not

refurbished. The guy chatted with the discharge folks (the folks that handle distro),

and we'll see what happens tomorrow, or early the day before. I think the exchange

policy is great, but I have to be honest... I'm getting super nervous that I'll have to

go back through the exchange process. Has anyone gone through the exchange process as well that would be kind enough to offer me hope that the new monitors

I'm getting will work out fabulously. I really couldn't believe that I would replicate

the problems that others have been having with the monitors; I thought everyone

was just being super picky. Please offer me hope :)!

return them...

then use this coupon on the small business section of dell: LXPN5SJ1D?059F

and get a 2405fpw for $900, no back light problems at all, and the samsung panels dont have very large pixel problems either

Honestly, gotcha, if this $hit doesn't work out with

the exchanged monitors, I'm returning them and getting the

2405fpw.

I'm so mad - the backlight was ridiculous.

What about other folks and their experiences with exchanges?

how much did you get the two 2005fpw for?

I bought a second hand 2005FPW from some guy who was selling on eBay but the potential Buy it Now buyer was a scammer... he shipped it out to Canada with a card and everthing and made it a gift and everything. It cost me $500 USD, but he said he did a thorough check and there was NO dead pixels, and the backlight issue is almost nonexistant as seen in the attached picture. It's a revision A01, but I thought since all of the ones on eBay are from the US anyways, if I could get one that I know has no issues with it and the guy can get me through without paying customs fees, then why not get it even if it is a month or two old... it was shipped from Maryland on Thursday, and I'm tracking it and waiting for updates... USPS is awful with there online tracking service! Once a day updates and there hasn't been one YET. UPS has the best tracking-hell any other service does! lol

Toxic_Josh,

Not to be rude, dude, but you've got backlighting issues in the upper right (thinly),

and both lower corners... At least that's what I see... I mean, I hope I'm not

being nitpicky, but that's a lot of backlight bleed compared to other lcd screens...

Again, no offense, it's all about the buyer and what he/she thinks is acceptable.

I'm actually pointing it out just to make sure I'm seeing it right - am I correct,

guys?

take care

Yeah, I just got my two replacements - Recall that I asked for Rev A02's ...what did I get....TWO FREAKING A01's. These are all being returned when the 2405fpw arrives.

backlight problems on both of them.

I jumped on the 2405fpw thanks the coupon someone laid out above.

I had the distinct feeling that I would get screwed again. how someone can order in June and get A01's .... seems to me, we're getting the returns of the folks who originally had this problem. proly repackaged with new bags and such. That's me just being paranoid, but still .... I'm sick and tired of this. Can you guys at least guarantee

that my 2405fpw will be good to go?

take care

Actually to be honest, I think the backlight bleed is really not bad at all. I haven't actually GOT the monitor yet, we'll see when I get it, but I never do stuff with the lights out anyways, and compared to the other pics I've seen it's really not bad. I am not expecting it to be perfect at all like a 2405 or anything... but from those of you who have the 2005fpw, what do you think of the pic I posted? And those who have gotten ones from exchanges, what do you say?

Thanks.

Well, to be honest I really can't judge from that photo? I have a 2005fpw (as described before) and all I can say is mine is 2x worse than that. I just realized now after 2 weeks watching a video when a black part came on it was very noticeable. Dell will be more than happy to exchange the monitor BUT they don't guaruntee that you will receive a rev A02. I'm going to call customer service first thing in the morning and hope that I get a A02.

BTW: There technical service blows, you're on hold for about an hour with tech support (because you have to wait in line will all the dimension noobies).

Oddcrap,

that's exactly what happened on my exchange - both monitors were again A01's.

The guy who handles my exchanges was very honest and said all he can do is

make sure it has a "new part number" not a refurbished part number. That does

no one any good because if it's a new A01...well. Who the f*** cares?

Soon as the 2405 comes in, these babies are being returned.

Take care,

I recently recieved my brand new 2005FPW, A01, but the backlight is perfect along with zero dead pixels. First try. I guess its luck of the draw. It truely is a beautiful monitor though.

Same here. Got mine today, REV A01, date of mfg: MAY 2005, assembled in UK.

Totally perfect. What a beauty.

    • Pretty sure you will be happy with the result, good luck and take it slow!
    • Mixed thoughts. I do think MS realized it need's to re-focus on it's core while trying to get people to ultimate pay for AI. My windows machines is my gaming tower. That being said a windows machine I used as a server was just recently converted to no GUI Linux server (and it runs so much better for it's purpse), and general purpose laptop (non-gaming) that could run Windows 11 is using Linux. My work device is a MacBook Pro, and I have a raspberry PI acting as my DNS server, using linux. I honestly have more non-windows devices then devices. I don't consider myself typical user however.
    • Here is how to watch Apple's WWDC 2026 conference where iOS 27 is expected by Taras Buria It is Monday, June 8, 2026, which means today is the day Apple kicks off its annual Worldwide Developer Conference, WWDC 2026. As usual, today's keynote will be full of consumer and developer-focused announcements, including new versions of Apple's operating systems, developer tools, and more. Apple streams its developer conferences, allowing everyone to tune in and watch the announcements live. Today is no exception, so here is how you can watch it. Apple WWDC 2026 will be available to watch on Apple's official website here. Also, you can stream it on YouTube and the Apple TV app on your Apple device. The stream kicks off at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM GMT+1. Apple's annual developer conference usually focuses on new software experiences, so do not expect major hardware announcements. What is expected is the "27" series of Apple's operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and macOS. Apple is unlikely to introduce major UI changes, but you can expect subtle tweaks to the Liquid Glass design language, particularly on Mac. One of the biggest changes Apple plans to announce today is a reworked, AI-powered Siri. The assistant will be available as a standalone app with a chatbot-like experience and Google's AI models under the hood. If you want to learn more about what is expected today at WWDC 2026, check out our dedicated article here. However, if you prefer a spoiler-free stream, tune in at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT on Apple's official website, its YouTube channel, or the Apple TV app.
    • For we consumer readers, it would be helpful if you clearly stated in the headline if the article is about consumer or enterprise. Then readers will know if the article applies to them or not. 2 cents.
    • At the moment I have my main PC and a test PC on my work desk. The test PC is also not inverted so I am not looking at the glass panel side, which is irritating.
