Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20" Widescreen LCD

Works fine with 6800 Ultra, your problem must be in radeon drivers or something. Can't be that processor or ram.

Works fine as in maxed out at 1680x1050 with full AA/AF with zero lag at all on de_dust levels?

I am just going to ask... anybody who has an X800XT+... I run CS: Source and if I max everything out at 1680x1050 (all High settings/ 8x AA/ 16x AF) I get some lagging in certain maps. Especially de_dust, de_dust2... I consider anything that goes to 30 pretty laggy because it really affects the gameplay when you are always at 60fps and then it lags to 30-40... just wondering if it's just the card that can't handle it or my CPU or something. I have a 3000+ Newcastle s754 at 2.35GHz so that isn't that much of an issue... my RAM also up that high at 2-4-4-8. MOST maps don't lag at all and are a constant 60 (the refresh rate), but some can get intense in some areas.  Even overclocked at well over 600 on the core and mem there is still that lagging in areas which upsets me. I put it down to 4x AA and 8x AF and it is BETTER and most maps DO NOT lag but still lags in de_dust. I am accrediting this to the high resolution but any comparisons would be nice ;)

I think you're overdoing it. I use 1680x1050 2x AA / 4x AF. But then I have dual monitors, and the second one hurts performance a bit.

Heh... so I guess even some of the best cards can't handle maxed out quality at 1680x1050. Any other backers to this to make me feel better and not like I wasted hundreds on a card that isn't fulfilling my dreams?

I play CS:S at 1680 x 1050 with everything on full at 0xAA 16xAF with a 6800GT @ Ultra speeds.

I do this because if de_inferno comes up or a level just as graphically intensive I don't get any lag and I prefer my textures to look crisp then a corner of an object. If I turn it to 2xAA 4xAF I lag to hell for the first 10mins or so of de_inferno which is just annoying. Of course I also run VSync on which limits my output to 60fps and stops the picture from tearing up at such high rez and hurting your eyes.

Hope that helped someone lol

Could everybody with a Dell 2005FPW look on the right hand side of their screen (Next to the scrollbar) and look if the bezel on the right hand side (Black plastic casing) shows some metal underneath if you look closely (And you can push the plastic on that side in and feel it moving)

Also, stand up and look down on the area where all the buttons are.  Is there metal exposed there too?

It seems badly designed to me if this is how it is on every model :(

REPOST

Got a replacement today, July 2005 :o

The exposure problem has gone away quite a bit, but now I can see a small white light to the left of the control buttons and also there is still some exposed metal in the middle of the right hand side, about 2 - 4 inches of it.

Am I just getting unlucky here :x

I have no idea John... to me there is no exposed "metal" and it looks just fine. Not sure if you are unlucky or just looking to hard :p personally I would just forget about it. If the backlight bleed is immense then yes, get a replacement. But if it's just that you are seeing metal and it's not really affecting the picture quality I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Well I could forgive the right hand exposure, as it isn't major (But you can see it big time when the screen is rotated and that side is running along the bottom of the new position!)

But I cannot forgive being able to see the little white light near the power buttons. It isn't 'backlight bleed' or anything, it looks like a backlight component.

And realistically I might as well keep trying while they're still prepared to send me 'new' monitors out :). I just don't get it, the left side has no problems at all so why should the right side be suffering!

Ordered one on tuesday, hope it's fault free (Y)

it's shipped with "walsh western" and the eta is "Carrier will phone customer to arrange suitable delivery date"...it's been like that for a couple of days now, and they still haven't been in contact :/

They don't turn up on your doorstep, for me it was FedEx / Business Post Express (Both times now).

And how much are kettle power leads worth? I'm going to build up quite a large collection exchanging these monitors

Are you in UK? and did they call you?

First time they called me up Tuesday morning, I was on a bus so told them to ring me back, they tried again when I was on the bus back home so I didn't even bother picking it up.

Called Dell and they eventually said they would sort the delivery...Friday afternoon the screen turns up (Scheduled for 5-9pm...).

Returns ... They arranged a date but they showed up a day later than arranged. Luckily someone was in.

For the replacement Dell sent me about 3 fresh invoices, and Walsh Western sent a letter confirming the delivery date of this monitor. It all gets very confusing :pinch:

Now I have to arrange something with Dell regarding this monitor. Gonna instruct them to get it 100% spot on this time before sending me any other screens

P.S. You UK buyers that have just popped into the thread, inspect your monitor closely when all set up, especially to the right hand side of the screen and try and spot the exposed metal behind the black plastic casing. I'm still wondering how the hell they can all be like this!

My Samsung TFT has gone now  That was a brilliant monitor but let down by lack of adjustment.

Offer ends July 20, 2005 11PM CT on select items.

hey, does anyone notice that the "Auto Adjust" button is not working? i press the Auto Adjust button which is the "+" button near the power button on the panel but it won't do anything, i even go into the menu but the "Auto Adjust" Button was black out... i hook my monitor up through the DVI connector...

does anyone have this same problem?

I just want to know why 75% of the options in the menu are greyed out :p btw... the + button I don't think is auto adjust. The + and - are just used for adjusting in the menu I believe.

talking about video card settings here is some tips:

if you want your color to be deeper on your 2005FPW monitor, then turn the "Digital Vibrance" on to low and you will notice the picture quality increase right away :D but this settings might only be avaliable with the Nivida Graphic Driver...

fix0gx.png

but having "Auto Adjust" function is always better for instant automatically settings...

just got mine but its got a pretty bad case of that backlight problem :(. about 50 percent of the edge of the screen glows from the backlight. other than that, this display is soooo nice. no dead pixels. revision A02. out of curiosity, does anyone elses screen have a sort of black wave moving along an edge with some dark colors?

    • You can't remove Safari though. Or almost any other bundled app for that matter, and pretty much all of them are useless to me (and there are is a heap of them compared to Windows). I'll much rather take Edge than Safari, at least it can be highly customized vs. Safari. I'll take a PC with ten Edges over a Mac any day though as I can't stand all the limitation and painfully frustrationg restriction that make me dislike their stuff with a burning passion, iOS included (especially iOS).
    • DVD only? What kind of self-respecting optical disk backup/ripping tool doesn't support Blu-ray these days? I burned all my DVDs like 15+ years ago...

    • Glow 26.9 by Razvan Serea Glow provides detailed reporting on every hardware component in your computer, saving you valuable time typically spent searching for CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and other stats. With Glow, all the information is conveniently presented in one clean interface, allowing you to easily access and review the comprehensive hardware details of your system. Glow provides detailed information on various system aspects, including OS, motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card, storage, network, battery, drivers, and services. The well-organized format ensures easy access to the required information. You can export all the gathered data to a plain text file, facilitating sharing with others for troubleshooting purposes. No installation needed. Just decompress the archive, launch the executable, and access computer-related information. Glow runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit versions. Glow 26.9 changelog: New Features The processor hardware detection engine has been significantly enhanced beyond traditional Intel and AMD architectures. Native support is now available for modern platforms such as Apple Silicon (M-Series) and the newly introduced NVIDIA Spark. In addition, all ARM-based processors can now be accurately distinguished between ARM32 and ARM64 architectures, providing precise hardware reporting. This marks a major milestone for Glow's hardware detection capabilities. The RAM manufacturer identification algorithm has been expanded. JEDEC vendor codes for popular brands such as Patriot, PNY, Team Group, GeIL, Lexar (Longsys), and Asgard/Gloway have been integrated into the database. This significantly reduces the likelihood of incorrect or "Unknown Manufacturer" results and improves overall hardware detection accuracy. New Public IP Address and Internet Service Provider (ISP) features have been added to the Network section. To ensure reliability, this information is retrieved from the trusted service ipwho.is. When Hiding Mode is enabled, no requests are sent and these features remain hidden, as they may expose sensitive information. The search engine used in the Installed Drivers, Installed Services, and Installed Applications sections has been enhanced. You can now perform more flexible and accurate searches using initials, partial matches, and loosely arranged character sequences. The TS Preloader loading bar has been rebuilt using our modern TS Custom Controls graphics library, developed entirely in-house. As a result of this infrastructure upgrade, the loading bar now features smooth rendering and rounded corners that align with the visual style of Windows 11. [TS Updater] A new validation algorithm has been added to check whether the target application is currently running before the update process begins. Bug Fixes Resolved a condition that could prevent TS Preloader from shutting down safely during rare application crash scenarios. Fixed a text alignment issue in the Network section affecting the display of DNS addresses. Alignment is now rendered correctly. [TS Updater] Fixed an issue that could prevent the updated application's executable "*.exe" file from being located after the update process. [TS Updater] Fixed a bug that could leave outdated "*.sha256" files in the application directory after an update. [TS Updater] Fixed a rare issue that could cause subfolders to be moved into the root directory after an update. [TS Updater] Fixed an issue during the first launch that could cause flickering and a temporary white window appearance due to Windows Defender interactions. Changes A small improvement has been made to the internet connectivity detection algorithm. Connectivity checks are now performed in the background with minimal impact on the user interface thread. The keyboard shortcuts in the top menu have been reorganized and simplified to provide a consistent experience across all Türkaysoft applications and to avoid potential conflicts with standard Windows shortcuts. The TS Preloader splash image has been updated with a Türkiye-themed stadium design to celebrate Türkiye's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup—its first appearance in 24 years. Congratulations, Türkiye! The TS Custom Controls module has been updated to version 26.6, delivering improved stability and a more polished visual appearance. [TS Updater] The application icon has been redesigned to provide a more modern and refined look. Note: Always unzip the program before using it. Otherwise you may get an error.
