Yeah the gear gap is becoming insane at the moment.

I wasn't online for 6 months or so so I completely missed every progression and am gearing up my mage again at the moment. Mostly I don't have an issue finding a group with him as I know my class and know the instances although his gear is gimped. (Only 700 spelldmg and 20% crit).

Have been playing with my warrior lately and got him some merciless gear. He's now in a tanking build and should be ok to start tanking heroics, 11K hp unbuffed, 11,5k armor, only 436 def, will need to up that one. But tanks are so gear dependent it's not funny. Atm I'm trying to up my faction with SSO so he can get the stuff from there but it's a pain.

Also our server was on recommended for a few months so we got an insane influx of noobs. Ppl like mentioned above LFM blahblah good gear... for KZ lol. At this point in the game KZ should be a breeze, even with mediocre gear. If you need good geared players for that I don't know what to say but gl with the rest of the game.

What bothers me also is ppl running around in PvP gear S1 and S2 who seem to think they're the man because they got purples, mostly they just suck at their class... There is no difference anymore between noobs and players who know their class, everyone wears purple or high blues now. For me before BC that was the factor that showed if someone knew what they were doing or not.

With BS its best to look at the plans that drop from the 25man raids, hell plans in general.

I used to be a BS but I switched as Ive found selling BOE Gear a bit tricky as a BS. Im now an Eng and love my mount and helm. Farmin motes with your Mote Extractor is easy tho and nets a great deal of gold.

BS = If you wanna gear up easier

Eng = Money / Fun toys

With that reply, I wandered down to XRoads, did a full loop for as much ore as I could find (66 copper, and .. like 10 tin, and 4 silver) and by the time I came back up to my starting location I'd decided to do engineering. After I got back into Org I sat down and worked my tail off for a while. My engineering's now at 131. :)

10:1 these people have no real interest in seeing the rest unless they're carried through by more experienced people.

I like to think there isn't a whole lot of difference between me and the full welfare priests standing around the bank. I don't fart rainbows of have "the magic touch" that lets me play so much better than everyone else.

The only thing I really have over-and-above other players is a well developed social network. I've been fortunate enough to play with some of the best players in the world -- they've taught me many things, and driven me to learn a few more. Without the tanks, dps, and other healers in my guild (past and present) I'd be no different from anybody else. With their help I'm able to rise above my mediocrity at least for a few hours a week and play at the top end of the game, but I'm still subject to the same troubles everyone else is.

For me before BC that was the factor that showed if someone knew what they were doing or not.

That was dangerous: I was in a guild selling BWL loot for things like bandages and level 20 cooked goods to help open the gates to AQ.

Even then, in spite of my T6/Sunwell gear: I screw up. In fact, I screw up a lot. Chances are good when most people play with me they'll never notice my failures because I've collected enough 'phat loots' to afford me a whole bunch of mistakes. The gear I wear never showed how good of a player I am/was, but how good of a team I've been able to be a part of. Gear might tell you a little bit about my personality but not a whole lot about my ability to play.

Anyone care to offer two cents on something?

I'm currently a level 117 paladin blacksmith. I'm.. sort of happy doing it.

However.. I was looking over engineering and it looks like it'll be more profitable, and more fun.

What's better for a paladin to take in the long run?

Well tbh Andrew, you are so late in the game, that I would consider choosing a profession that will profit you more than anything. Right now most people are trying to do anything they can to make gold for the expansion, and most are picking gathering professions.

But if you are looking at 2 normal professions:

Blacksmithing is a great profession for pally's since there are quite a few good patterns that drop for shoulders/chest, etc.

Mining to go with blacksmithing is your best bet, and also mining is a great money maker.

Engineering honestly costs more than what you can make off it. Only really good for the goggles and the copter, and you can easily just get S2 helm instead of the goggles.

Well Im considering a server move.

I,ll quote my post from over at Cromfels (ret pally forums). Tho my current guilds CC has found out and apparently wants words. The way I see it im thinking of a server move after a number of years on my current Realm and well when I do go which will be within the next 2-3weeks I want to know that where ever I do go theres something waiting for me.

Considering a Realm and Guild change should the oppurtunity come up. My gear is shown below. The guild im in at mo have cleared Bt and Hyj both of which are on farm. However recently with a flux of new members I find myself not being picked for raids.

On a personal lvl I also become a little complacent but due to a the lack of feeling Im one of the gang. Im still with them at present and am getting to raid just under 33% of the time maybe less.

I guess I feel the need to move as my guild altho williing and full of good players and some nice people, just has a new atmosphere or ethos of some sort and either im just in need of change or something has changed.

Below is my armory link and hopefully no one from Risen will see this and call me a git. It really is more of a fresh start before wotlk kinda thing and probs long overdue for me to leave Hellscream. Apparently the grass is always greener on the other side tho hopefully its more purple.

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xm...eam&n=Chuck

Im missing the main parts of my T6 and would say I need 4 items from BT before being SWP ready. Tho am ofc willing to raid 50%+ (3-4 days pweek) and always bring full consumables and more.

Gear wise I need my T6 Chest/Legs/Shoulders and The Helm Of The Illidari. Rest is fine until SWP. I have played a Ret Pally for 3yrs (+1yr combined Holy time)

I also hold a full epic Prot/Holy set both with an average gear lvl of 125-130 ish.

Fully exalted with all Major Outland factions and have raided all the old content until mid Naxx, all the TBC content until Illidan and ofc all the other instances and pve stuff.

Yeah you're right I screw up too from times to times but the difference in those days was (And what I meant but maybe it didn't come out so well) was that you knew the ppl with high end gear. We had like 4 guilds Horde side on our server who were doing AQ40 and Naxx. If there were players in there who got high end gear without having the play style for it we knew about it. (Ppl piggybacking when there was a spot).

Now you don't know that anymore. I have nothing against the welfare epic stuff but the problem is it's not clear anymore if they know how to play their class or they just grinded their way to get some purple and don't know a thing about playing their class.

Examples that come to mind doing MGT and we had a hunter shooting the boss without us even being ready. The MT asking me to sheep before he pulled... stuff like that and they were "high end" geared.

I didn't stay away for too long.

With my activation running out on the 27th, I moved in to my apartment feeling almost relieved I wouldn't be playing. Not too sure of anyone else, but I think the thing that made me leave the game was having my own fate (being able to raid) in the hands of another person, regardless of prior endeavors. Even if I was there, which I was, to raid every night, 4 nights a week, 4.5 hours a night, plus all the time grinding mats for foods, pots, elixirs, and gold for whatever else, the raid leader could tell me, "Hey dude, sorry, group make up", or, "Trying out this new guy, maybe you can come in later?". Now, I've been known to be a bit self-righteous, regardless, not being able to direct my own path in the game made for a lack of enjoyment. What I'm getting to here is that whether it be my personality or not, I felt like I was obligated to play, to sit there, and wipe for as many hours as it took, because of course, seeing new bosses falling animation was worth it, yet, I wasn't getting the same respect or what have you from the game, which sounds kind of creepy, but I'm speaking of other players as the same entity. Perhaps I am an odd case, sadly, however I feel I'm not.

Anyway, moved in on the 25th, had no internet until the 27th, so you know what that means, no way to cancel the auto-subscribe for the following month. I've logged on a few times, see more and more people with the bear mount, more people with s2, which btw is getting kinda crappy since I'm still in my t5 shoulders (for the bonus) and get so much **** for being a welfare-nub because the graphic is the same. I don't know though.. which is harder or takes more time..? Clearing easy trash to 1-shot VR or grinding honor and marks? Meh. Even so, I feel I'd like to raid once in a while, maybe get some t6 and see some of the end bosses before Q4, which now that I think about it, is only a month away.

That's the problem with wow for many people. They would like to raid once in a while but what guild is going to let you do that when 30+ other people put their time and life into a game 5 days a week. Of course they are going to get raid spots before you.

Trust me, you're not alone. You could raid ****ty dungeons but where is the fun in that.

I was one of those people..that's what I'm saying.

Hmm :/ I've quit WoW for a while... Just, if you're at school and you don't want to raid till 3 at night you can't find a guild. If you get kicked for having to go to the toilet ><...

Probably, when WotLK comes out, I'll just buy it, spec retri (Holy pala now, geared with ZA-TK-SSC) or stay holy, whatever works, maybe even prot, and level to 80. At 80, do some HC's for the lore (Old Strat ftw) and then quit again. Maybe some chill raids, but no more guildcrap.

Now sssh, I have to play Trackmania!

WOOT!

After being on standby Friday night, and not raiding Saturday and Sunday due to holidays my new guidl went into Black Temple tonight. Ended up doing Naj'entus, Supremus, Shade and Gorefiend. This guild has only cleared up to Bloodboil so we did pretty good. I was nervous as **** at first, and hated to slow down raid speed by having them explain **** to me (i read it all, but it was nice to hear it right before hand). My targe was X and that's it the entire raid, second kill target. I did fine never lost aggro, and on some cases of trash picked up strays or ****.

Naj'entus came and I was dps, wasn't told about spreading out from melee, in a melee heavy fight so it was pain to deal with. Think I may have caused that wiped, several melee quickly explained to me what was up, and we downed him next try, with me keeping my distance from everyone I could. Then we cleared to Supremus, them doing extra trash to get me used to it, and for some extra rep. Then we came on to Supremus.

First off, mother ****er is huge. And I mean HUGE. Told me what he does, and how where to kite him (keep him out of middle to avoid volcanoes there) and there's no MT, fight us for threat. So we run in, myself still weary so I'm just trying to learn it all, and the fires for the first two phases. I watch a few people kite him (never selected me) to try to learn that. And then about halfway through I step it up a notch, and started to fight for aggro. Ended up holding it a few times, which diffently gave a good impression. After 10 minutes (either extremly long fight or we had low dps) he died. I died once, due to a volcanoe (moving him away) and out of range of healers. He dropped those ****-poor ugly Pauldrons of Abyssal Fury, which were a huge upgrade over T4.

Then made are way to Shade, and it took us twice with him. I was on left side add duty, and it was a rush to deal with those guy, were not expecting them to run so fast. Had a frost nova to help though, but that fight is really easy. Didn't take but like three minutes and we downed him. Then we made are way to Gorefiend, which I know is a TPS/DPS test for most guilds in T6. Finally clear to them, and the raid leader tells are MT to throw on DPS gear and says "Mad get ready for a ride."

I'm like ****, this is my test to the guild, I gotta do good. Gotta show 'em I can handle it. So we run in, have him at abotu 50% when I got crushed and died, causing a wipe. My fault I was not prepared for his hits like that. So next attempt I threw on Moroes and ate some agility food, for the next two attempts I was golden. Didn't get crush but a few times and kept my TPS up roughly 20k from the nearest dps'r. We wiped again due to constructs in the raid, at 1% non-the-less.

Overall, guild was awesome. Black Temple is amazing, and I'm so glad to be out of Kara/ZA every week. Gotta say, this guild is promising, and the guild leader complimented me in guild chat (something all claim he rarely does) on my job tonight. So I'm happy again, glad to be playing my warrior for the first time in months. Can't wait to see more, and progress further.

Just dinged 70 tonight (this morning, if you want to get technical :p) !!! :woot:

This is my first 70, so I'm pretty excited. Still have crap gear as I basically dinged, got my flying mount, learned my 70 skills and logged. But I'm very excited to start gearing up as my guild runs Kara all the time and I'd love to get in on it.

Awesome Slane, its really fun hearing stories of guys who just hit 70 like giga.. Gratz on 70!! and Slane stepping into a new guild first time in BT, being in awe of how big it is, etc.

I miss those days, and honestly those are the best parts about wow.. Once you get to the point were we are, were you have everything on farm minus 2-3 bosses in Sunwell, you don't get that feeling anymore, and its nice to hear others having it

Spent 3 hours last night redoing my guilds bank layout and re-organizing it top to bottom according to the new structure instead of having it just be a Lazee fair (sp?) "Dump your crap off here" kinda bank.

I'm extremely pleased with the way it's looking now.

I also made my pally my main as I've gotten sort of tired of my Tauren hunter and happen to be enjoying paladin a whole lot as it's a jack of all trades (DPS, Heals and Tanking.)..

Haha, slane, I feel you. I remember the same things from my first walk into BT. Especially being the first one to hit Supremus in our guild (Misdirect, but still!) hahaha. I wish I was still inspired and in awe by the game to further my experience.. but.. again.. it leads right back to relying on others, which kinda sucks.

Is anyone on these boards from an RP-PvP Server? I'd like to transfer.

One of my 70s is on a RP realm. From my understanding, the RP-PVP realms are light on RP. What exactly are you more interested in?

Curious: have you done you do Kael or Vashj? My take on the first of BT and pretty much all of Hyjal is that they were pretty bland / boring.

I suspect that if you don't fondly remember fights like Kael/Vashj then early BT/Hyjal will feel like great zones. They're certainly a step up from the content most people have done to death. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a shame Blizzard wasted so much of Tier 6 on "reward bosses" for killing Kael and Vashj.

Sunwell has been consistently fun (except for the guild-killer right before the end). I'm not a huge fan of Twins or Brutallus but they're short fights and they don't feel like a waste-of-time when you're doing them: they aren't "easy" -- if only because they're pretty harsh gear and "idiot" checks.

Recruitment

If you're a resto shaman and want to raid 5 days a week plus optional "get gear for alts" and "sell bears" runs: Betrayal on Shadowmoon (US PVP) is looking for you. We can provide all the gear you need: but consistently showing up and performing is required.

There's also some talk about wanting a rogue (4 piece T6 or better), and a reasonably well geared resto druid (say 2/8) but shaman are a priority.

Honestly I enjoy PvP and PvE pretty evenly. I enjoy the group effort for PvE Raid encounters, and how free PvP can feel if you want it to be. But, group PvP is a lot of fun too. I don't RP at all, I'd be surprised if even 30% of my server did. In fact, I see a ton of RP-Bashing on my server, which is kind of lame, but yeah.

I'd really rather raid than do PvP if I were to transfer.

Sadly, I've only seen/done Void Reaver, A'lar, Lurker, and Hydross in T5 content. My guild has done Vashj, and hasn't put any serious attempts on Kael yet. I'm hoping to do an SSC run one night to see all the fights, and get my Vial from Vashj. I'm pretty sure we have plans to do Kael, just haven't done anything serious on him yet. Can't comment on Sunwell, as I dunno if I'll get there. I see Illidan being downed, andy maybe Kal/Brut in Sunwell, but I'm not sure if my guild will "beat" the game.

I don't (didn't) RP either, at all. Only reason I even had a toon there is because the people seem to be less of the "Omg imma pwnzer u nub" named Sneekystabbs type.

    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.

    • That's not what I meant:) I like the tabs being above the URL bar, but previously the tab selection started from the top of the screen (y=0). So I could just quickly push my mouse up and done. Now I have to actually aim it just slightly below the top, because the tab is now a few pixels below the top. In other words, previously I only had to aim with my mouse horizontally, now I have to both vertically and horizontally. Super annoying.
