World of Warcraft - Cataclysm

Azeroth is changed completely. Some zones are completely destroyed, some are shattered, some are flooded (Thousand Needles), some are ripped in half. Coastlines the world over are changed. Durotar is wrecked, along with Orgrimmar, which is torn in two. A new orc city is rebuilt over the course of the expansion. Gnomes retake Gnomeregan in an instance.

Malfurion comes back and helps activate the new Guardian of Tirisfal - Thrall. Thrall hands over leadership of Horde to Garrosh Hellscream while Thrall serves as a coordinator for both Horde and Alliance forces and players to combat the Naga and Black Dragonflight. Garrosh declares open war on the Alliance, and you can expect more Wintergrasp like areas on the old map. Due to some political manipulations, Cairne Bloodhoof gets painted as a betrayer and is murdered by Garrosh. Cairne's son takes over as Tauren chief.

Even if just some of this is true. This is a massive kick up the arse to WoW! :o

I'm betting that it will turn out to be fake.

He's been fairly dead on for the last few 'estimates' on what expansions will consist of. If The Barrens does get a revamp it'll be a massive pat on the back for all the quests you did in the area to bloody save it. :p

Mm... it's MMO-Champion. They're quite a reliable source of information.

When the Goblin and Worgen masks came out, the author there said they were likely to be the next new races and that he'd run the streets of Paris nude if he was wrong. He also suggested that if Blizzard wanted to keep a lid on it, they'd release various other masks soon after. Boom, there came the various other masks. He still stood by his statement though, and seeing it come to life with such an in-depth article... Yeah, it's easy to speculate, but hard to be so wildly creative, as Blizzard seems to be doing with this.

Here's a great quote by someone on the WoW forums that really hit the nail with how I feel, and makes some really good points:

Firstly, I'm in agreement with the view already expressed here that I'm less skeptical because it's mmo-champion. I really doubt they'd blow their credibility unless their source was good.

Secondly, this actually fits with the current state of WoW lore. They've been setting up this Garrosh thing for some time. Over and over Garrosh pees in Thrall's cornflakes, and Thrall doesn't put the smackdown on him...probably due to the interrupted challenge for leadership that Garrosh sort of won. The difference between Garrosh and Thrall though, is Thrall actually wants what's best for his people, he's not interested in warmongering and leadership for the sake of leadership. He's more of a true leader, and if that means handing over the "executive" position in the Horde to stop the end of the world from coming, he'd do that. Politics always burdens down true leaders, and this would be him stepping away from them to do what's best for his people. This leaves the horde with a jackass leader to counterpart the Alliance's jackass leader, and war breaks out in full swing while Thrall and others ride out to try and stop what's causing the cataclysm. It'd actually be the most intriguing plot I've seen for WoW in some time, something completely free of tying up loose ends from WC3 (Illidan, Arthas) because by then they'll have already been tied up. Essentially, WoW being allowed to come into its own instead of being the nextdoor neighbor of WC3. All kinds of intrigue and shaking up the status quo could be just what this game needs.

Think about it. How better to make a new endgame -and- make leveling more interesting in one fell swoop? If new races are to be introduced, that tackles the question once again of leveling being -boring-. I have hardcore alt-itis and even I can't stomach leveling more toons anymore, the content I have to slog through is just too stale. This would be an incredibly smart move to save these new races from being a lame duck feature because it might get people actually interested in leveling again.

In making old azeroth the focus for the new expansion, it also would allows blizzard to kill two birds with one stone, snatching up some long time player requests (flight in old azeroth, for example) in the process of revamping kalimdor and the eastern kingdoms. Dev time is, yes, limited, but this allows them to pick up some of these changes that otherwise would never get funding approved by sweeping them up with the expansion development time.

Honestly, I hope it is true, this sounds incredibly interesting.

I dont really get why some SV hunters are complaining the their dps has decresed, mine has just sky rocketed LnL Procs pretty much every 15-20 seconds and you can force proc one instantly after again with a trap, Constantly i seem to pull out 4-5k in heroics now on bosses where as before i barely managed 3-4k. Also in VoA fully raid buffed im hitting around 5.5k, i get the feeling if i gem properly and clean up my rotation i can get that up to 6k with ease.

Might be something to do with the TotC and all the new armor penatration gear that drops from there, im at around 40% armour reduction which is pretty sweet, never been that high before, anyone tell me if there is a cap and what that is for armor pen?

Also why does gear with Armor Pen, hardly ever have any +hit on it?

I completely agree with that as well. I would love to see these changes. If you take a look at the Blood Elf or Draenei starting areas, they're absolutely fantastic -- great gear, fun quests, and they make you feel totally bad ass when you're done with them (the huge crowd that cheers for you when you're done with the major Draenei questline, for example). If they can revamp the other starting areas and even later leveling areas to be more like that, I would have no problems leveling anymore.

Ya it's 100%. But seriously depends on what trinkets you have. Which one you have is what soft-cap you will aim for.

ArP Soft-cap: 619.6 ArPen, if wearing Grim Toll

ArP Soft-cap: 566.6 ArPen, if wearing Mjolnir Runestone

When the procs happen it will put you at 100%, anything past that is wasted.

Can't believe I was keylogged. It wasn't even a trojan, Avast didn't pick it up.

I had to run Malwarebytes to find it.

I even reformatted just to make sure it was dead.

I just hope now that I have access back to my account, that it is over.

Haven't felt so violated over the internet before... Guess it's time for an authenticator...

It makes me wonder WHERE I picked it up though... I am thinking through World of Raids... I wish I kept a Malwarebytes log of what it was...

Make sure you guys leave the WoW launcher on, it apparently acts like when Avast starts up and searches the memory for possible malware, didn't know that until this mishap.

K so my account has been stolen too :(

They changed it to a battle.net account, Changed the email and name on the account too.

Just scanning with Malwarebytes now see if that finds anything otherwise i have no idea how it got stolen.

Still waiting on a reply from blizzard. Apparently my DK is in storm peaks and has been for a couple of hours.

My account is a Battle.net account. I got hacked last year and logged into 4 lvl 70's neked. I used to use the iPhone Authenticator but when The phone needed restoring after a jailbreak and I couldn't get the same authenticator installed I lost connectivity with my account for nearly a week due to how fast BLizz would speak to me and get it removed.

I think If I got hacked again I would sell up and create a new lvl 1, Its not the same getting all of your stuff in the mail

I had a strange experience a few days ago also, I had someone who I was in a raid or HC with say your from Neowin arent you. I was like ermm... yes lol wasn't sure how to react

haha nice one mate, been very, very unlucky with the Grim Toll trinket, almost always have been the second highest roller in pugs which is hearbreaking. To top that off when I was in my previous raiding guild (pre-ulduar) i never had enough DKP for it. Might change some +20 agi gems for +20 Armor pen instead then.

*Raises hand*

;)

Well since Blizz have ****ed me off one too many times when it's came to my Mage. So I though it's time to prepare another toon for gearing up. The only problem I had was leveling. Simply because. It's so god damn dull the 9th time. I did a bit of research now I'm dual boxing a RAF account. So I can skip all the boring parts with level grants to my main. :D

Speaking of pun names, these were Worgen ones from WoW Insider on Twitter:

If you like British actors: Hughroarie, Judegnaw, Waggiesmith. More obscure: Worgenzevon. Or Shakespearean: Worgencrantz (and Goblinstern).
For you BBC folks, Terryworgen. If you're more of a premium cable type of guy, Dexterworgen. Bank alt? Jpworgen.

Jpworgen

I've recently resubed and all I see is people LFM'ing demanding that players link them achievements for that instance before they get accepted. What the heck is that about?

I thought achievements were supposed to be a "fun side activity" and not some stupid requirement before instancing.

Whist I've not really tried to group since resubbing it seems a bit catch 22 to require the achievement, yet how do you get the achievement if no group will take you?

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
