I'm curious, I haven't played since Wrath came out basically.

Did they ever change it so you can make more than one Death Knight per server, or change it so you can make a Death Knight if you didn't have a level 55 toon or higher?

Just asking because on my friends server I have quite a few toons, but all are under level 25 or so. I rather enjoyed my DK when I played him :D

The same limitations apply now.. just checked it myself.

Alliance :p

Damn you, I get the idea that there's far more Alliance folks over there than Horde.. :)

Maybe we can arrange a duel sometime ^^

Well I'm enjoying it. Got quite a few quests stacked up atm, but I finally reached level 10 ... it's kind of annoying though. People keep following me when i'm in towns wanting to duel ... so finally I accepted one and had to whoop that ass, so I got an achievement for that =)

So I actually started playing again. After watching every single minute of Blizzcon I suddenly felt the urge to play

Well here's the problem - My FPS is terrible. I've had the computer in my signature for quite a while and I have played World of Warcraft on it without problems, so this time there is something else causing it. Like, standing in a Hellfire Peninsula inn looking at the wall gives me a MAX of 40FPS and it drops below 30 at points, it's fluctuating like mad despite not moving at all. Dalaran I wasn't even able to hit 14FPS.

I know my computer can handle the current settings as it has done it before, I've been through the 1-80 leveling mill and never had this problem - Something is acting up, any ideas?

Is this the first time your running it under Windows 7? Because I've noticed lower performance under 7 x64 then I have under Vista x64. I'm not really sure why but when I Login objects take days to load in (Character models and things) and generally the game feels a bit sluggish I think Blizzard just need to do some optimisations.

I have played under Windows 7 a long time ago, purely for testing and I can't even remember the result. So yes, you might be on to something - Characters do take a long, long time to load and everything feels sluggish so could very well be a Windows 7 issue. Just weird considering every other game available ( almost ) gets a performance boost or just the same performance as Vista, this is actually the first game I've heard of that has lower performance under Windows 7.

I don't want to dual boot, I don't want to re-install Vista ... What a waste of money :(

I'm sure if this is a Win 7 + WoW issue that Blizzard will fix it. And I agree with your assertion every other game I have is at the same performance in Win 7 as it is under Vista x64 (I have it as dual-boot to compare) TF2, Left 4 Dead and GTA4 which are games I usually play react exactly the same under both. But WoW under Windows 7 is really under-performing. Especially when I first log in characters of other players can take around 10-30 seconds to load in but I'm loading the game off 3x320GB Single Platter Hard Disks that reach over 300MB/ps read in RAID. And under Vista they load in 0.5 seconds lol

Very strange. There is also an issue with WoW in the new Snow Leopard for OS X. It has performance issues. It appears Blizzard heavily target each operating system version?

So I decided to re-install Vista and Windows 7 was definitely the problem, the inn where I was getting an average of 30 and peaking at 40, I'm now hitting 400FPS peak. Not sure how Windows 7 manages to choke this game so bad, I just hope Blizz sorts this out fast. So thanks for the suggestion and help Vice (Y)

On another note, any suggestions for new UI packages? Haven't been following the UI modification scene for ages, so not sure what's hot or not. Preferably something that works with my druid, which I'm currently leveling. Also some suggestions for 'minor' addons such as Quest Helper etc.

Sethos, have you looked at Caith UI?

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11255-CaithUI.html

I think its one of the cleanest UI's out there. I have it and have been using it for over a year now.

Anyway I use that, along with a few other addons, They are:

NPC_Scan (will find rare elites for you without you spamming macros and automatically target it for a quick, easy kill)

Atlasloot Enhanced - Browse loot tables

Carbonite - dont use questhelper, its a memory and resource hog, use this instead.

Omen - Threat meter for raids/instances

Qbar - adds a dynamic button bar with quest items only, so u dont need to go searching your bags for items.

Recount - DPS meter

SexyMap - replace the minimap that Caith uses, its crap compared to this one

Xloot - better loot frames.

Here is how I have mine setup for raids (this is messy, clean it looks exactly like Caith UI in the link under solo)

    • How does it compare to the "SeeStar S30 Pro" and the "Vespera PRO 2"?
    • Indeed. And note that those units are MUCH cheaper than this new Steam Machine...ahem.
