I'm quitting. My account is up on ebay atm. It's not the game it used to be and I no longer wish to play it, The warning was obviously what pushed me over the edge.

To be fair, your macro is pretty childish. You need remember the playerbase of the game isn't exactly the most "on the ball" and some would fall for it and get annoyed. It doesn't matter that they did it themselves, you were essentially trolling. It is no different to people who post rick rolls on forums.

And Blizzard have fixed it... by putting a warning on your account, you won't be doing it again. There is no other real way for them to deal with it and anyway, a warning is just that. A warning. In the scheme of things its totally harmless to your account unless you continue to troll the playerbase.

To totally ragequit over it when you brought it on yourself is hilarious really.

As for the gearscore/achievement checker thing, it's one of the reasons I can't be bothered with this game on anything but an ultra casual basis any more.

Gear has never = skill and whist yes, someone with good gear helps does it REALLY matter if an instance takes a few minutes longer because you've took slightly undergeared players to a PUG?

The vast majority of PUG content isn't balanced around every player having top of the line gear so it's really pathetic to see the community ruin it and make even simple content SRS BUSINESS. It's really sad how achievements have turned from something fun to do on the side to a virtual requirement.

It's so so retarded when people won't even give you the time of day unless you have XX/YY/ZZ gear/achievement.

None of the above applies if your in a progress based raiding guild tho, then it makes sense to be all hardcore about gear/achievements.

I agree that people shouldn't be so strict about GS. I'll gladly take somebody slightly undergeared, yet I've seen people asking for 4.5k GS for Vault 10. There are people that are ruining it, but if you use it as it's meant to be used (a replacement for manual Armory checking) then it's fine.

Depending on where we are in the content release gear can be used as a measure of skill: if you saw somebody with loot from 4 horsemen (at 60) or M'uru (at 70) you could be reasonably sure they were competent players because those encounters didn't leave a lot of room for "completely worthless" players to tag along even buying loot.

I've always thought this was the next logical extension of "LFM Gruul Must be Geared".

It's a way for 'bad' players to separate themselves from other 'bad' now that world+dog has roughly instant access to top-end gear.

"I can't be the same as him: I have Item level 219 everywhere (that I got mindlessly farming heroic dungeons and 10-man nax)". With most guilds not clearing top-end heroic mode 25-man content there's no obvious difference between a "bottom 70%" player and a "bottom 10%" player except for /played. The terrible players need to latch on to that in order to maintain the illusion that they're not really the proletariat.

I'd almost prefer to see a return to the old "raid hard content or die" style of gear progression. At least back when strat was a raid zone pugs didn't have an inflated sense of self-worth when piecing together a group.

That being said, I almost always beat out other mages with better GS than me. It seems the 2-button Arcane rotation is still too difficult for most people to master

I personally would think it would be a gemming/gearing issue. I've seen plenty of arcane mages, but to fully utlitize it you need some serious haste. Alot of mages I've ran into didn't know/understand this tidbit.

Has anybody gotten an email from Blizzard offering a free 7-day pass for some kind of anniversary thing? A friend of mine got one, and we've both been inactive for a few months now, but I haven't gotten anything like that.

I did, used it, it worked just fine. Just be sure anything you click on from Blizzard links you to the appropriate Blizzard websites, with the https and such.

Eh, I don't gem for haste too much. I gem to fit sockets, so for red I gem straight SP, yellow I gem SP + haste, and blue I gem SP + spirit. Though I guess it's at least a bit better than those that just gem straight SP.

I read about that on WoW.com and it's apparently pretty random, or so it seems.

I'll assume you've disregarded the "Live" and "Import fresh data from Armory" options.

Yes i do check the live option on WH but it doesnt change the fact that it caches profiles when you sort by who is best on server and the is no live option when searching this.

I think you need to revisit the site and check where the live options are and Get Fresh Data from Armory. Just incase you missed it the live option is on the "Character" search page and "Get fresh data from the Armory" is on the Guild Search Page. These Options are not on the Realm Search page... therefore the players displayed in there are cached.

Should I have mentioned I do upwards of 7.5k deeps?

Tough crowd. >.<

Not hard to achieve at all. DKs and Pallys in my guild are doing this and they still have a few items from Nax25 and ulduar 10. Im doing that with 2500-2600ish wh score on my hunter also. Still need to upgrade trinkets and weapon too.

Couldnt find a recent WWS so ill post one of mine from about 6 weeks ago.

Since then i have aquired new gear (chest, wrists etc) so dps is now a lot higher.

I can't think of one spec/class that it's more beneficial to gem to fit sockets instead of gemming all out for one stat and once you reach a "cap" for that stat you start on another one.

As an Arms Warrior I'll gem ArP until I reach a soft cap (with trinket procs) or the hard cap and once either of those are reached I'll start to gem str while I keep that capped reached, as those gems is what increase my DPS the most. I only ever gem for a socket bonus on a piece of gem when it's what I need to make my meta.

It's better to gem for straight SP actually, unless the socket bonus is particularly appealing. In the case of a mage, you're looking for SP bonuses of +5 or more. Gemming SP/Haste is fine for yellow slots, but SP/spirit should really only used for meeting your meta.

I never said it was better to do what I do, but this is one of my OCD-like tendencies (we all have one or two little ones). Regardless, there are actually many pieces of gear where it makes sense to fit the socket, at least according to Rawr. Only a couple of pieces would it be more beneficial to gem straight SP over SP + spirit, and the gain is usually less than 10 SP, so I really don't care.

Like I said, I'm almost always top DPS, so nobody's going to be scrutinizing my gem choices in raids.

at least according to Rawr

Rawr and others like it or nice to see different sets of gear but other than that I would never use one as a basis for my DPS. Call me old school, whatever you want, I'll crunch numbers spend thoudsands of gold on re-gemming/enchanting to find what would work best for me. Nothing can top that.

Regardless if it's working for you go ahead, but you can always be better.

After adding everything up, it's only a difference of 36 SP. Because of my 2-piece T9 bonus, I'm getting 30.8 crit rating from the spirit I gemmed. I'd say it's a pretty fair trade, especially since my total SP is already 2460 before procs.

Regardless, I don't have the gold to re-gem them all anyway

So I was doing a few BC instances on my pally for the Outland Dungeonmaster achieve, and I decided to do the two Caverns of Time instances. I've never run them before, but I love CoS for all the lore that's in it so I figured they would be just as fun.

Anyway, as much as I like the lore, I haven't taken the time to learn more by reading books or whatnot, and I was never a huge fan of the original Warcraft games, so I'm pretty lost on some things. Either way, I did the Black Morass instance (Opening of the Dark Portal) and looked up where the Black Morass actually is, and I was surprised to see that it's the Swamp of Sorrows and Blasted Lands combined.

I don't mind such drastic changes to the landscape, as what I read all makes sense. But what I did notice is how insanely small the Black Morass is compared to those two zones combined. I could run across the instance in less than a minute on an epic mount easily, but it takes at least a few minutes to run from the southern end of the Blasted Lands to the northern end of the Swamp of Sorrows.

Am I missing something here? Did the Black Morass grow to the north before the Dark Portal was destroyed (which changed the southern part to the Blasted Lands)? Or did Blizz simply decide to make it smaller for the instance (which wouldn't make sense given how large Old Hillsbrad Foothills is)? I just don't get it.
